  1. I still don't understand the trades for Ben Bishop and Johnny Boychuk. I know it was for cap reasons but it seems like gross mismanagement that the Sabres had to do this in the first place. They didn't play one minute for our team. The return the Sabres got on the Reinhart deal, although incomplete, seems to be bad to me at this stage. I'm not counting on Levi making it (we'll see) and Kulich, although he has a rocket, seems to be a one-note Johnny, like an Olofsson. As mentioned, the Hasek forced trade for Kozlov and what turned out to be Keith Ballard was really poor, but like many bad trades the Sabres have made, they have turned high draft choices to stale mediocrity by bad choices. It might not be the worst but my least favorite trade was Peter McNab for Andre Savard.
  2. This actually happened. It wasn't made up. It's a real story. I don't think it's propaganda and I don't think it's cutting the segment short to fit into a TV show. NBC editing it out and getting exposed shows the type of decisions that a TV network makes covering a sporting event or maybe a news story. The story was covered by a number of different outlets, not just the Gateway Pundit. If you don't like the source I posted, choose any of these other ones: https://news.google.com/search?q=c.j. stroud jesus&hl=en-US&gl=US&ceid=US%3Aen And you're the one talking politics, not me.

  4. I'm not talking about the print edition. I'm talking about the online edition. Wonder what's the excuse for that?
  5. I looked on weather.com. Apparently there has been 11" already in the past 24 hours with 3-5 accumulating by the end of the day, and another 16" in the next 24 hours and 18" in the next 48 hours with winds tomorrow 15-25mph for the game. Buffalo truly needs a domed stadium. Anything else is short-sighted.
  6. I checked The Buffalo News online edition today and there was absolutely no mention of yesterday's Sabres-Canucks game anywhere on the front page. It was as if it never even happened. There was, however, a story about "KenmoreGI-Port shuts out Williamsville" in HS hockey. Are the Sabres becoming irrelevant to the Buffalo News? It seems that way. I just get a strange feeling the Sabres are being phased out. I would not be surprised if in five years, it's only the Bills in Buffalo.
  7. I think you're over-reacting a bit Mike. An F would be a 7-30 record. The Sabres are 18-20. The expectations were higher but but the GM did not address critical issues, in favor of "development." I didn't expect them to make the playoffs this year simply because of the unaddressed needs. Sure they're a disappointment but they have won 3 of 4 and hopefully they'll get some traction and have a good second half, like last year. I'm a bit optimistic with what I've been seeing lately.
  8. In a bit of an eyebrow raiser, the Hockey Guy gave the Sabres an "F" at the halfway point of the season. The Sabres did have the 9th hardest schedule in the first half but they do have an easier second half. Here's his rationale (6:35)
  9. When you look at TSN's scouting report about Skinner, you understand a bit more about his game: Assets: His skating sets him apart from the pack, thanks to great lower-body strength, quickness and balance. Is also a natural scorer who has the shot, smarts, focus and instincts to produce quality numbers. Liabilities: CONCUSSIONS have been an issue for him during his NHL career, and he generally lacks upper body strength. As a result, he is not always willing (or able) to win puck battles in the trenches regularly. Career Potential: Inconsistent sharpshooting winger. Add on to that list that he's a rat, that he annoys people, including refs, and gets under the skin of opponents (which may cause trouble with more concussions), he has improved on his passing/playmaking capabilities (had a career high of 47 assists last year, making his line even more of a threat), he meshes very well with Tuch and Thompson, with whom he seems to be peaking career-wise, and he has never been on a playoff team. He's a -129 career-wise, reflecting his defensive hesitency. He's also funny as hell, in a concussion-related way. I like Skinner, despite his flaws. He's just about the best scorer on the Sabres and a good example to young'uns about how to stay in the league and still be relevant at age 31. I just worry about his concussions.
  10. Note to Fans in Attendance: Hockey is emotion. This team must dread home games because of the continuous booing, which is really embarrassing to the home team and gives the visitor the edge. I know it's been a looonnnng twelve years (and Pegula sucks!) but I ask the fans to try to forget the bad history and to not to be so quick to boo the team. They are young and fragile and need the crowd behind them. Not to be continually kicked in the ass. Otherwise , bad plays cause booing and booing causes bad plays, over and over again. The next thing you know, it's another loss. So rally behind them if at all possible. Booing only gets them down and makes them play uptight and worse.
  11. I've noticed Dahlin with the short fuse in a past post or two. Slamming his stick is the main thing I see. He must be cursing that mega contract he signed after stalling for so long. Wonder what the over/under is for when Dahlin trashes the Sabres' precious $10 million locker room?
  12. Please don't trade Greenway. That said, he sure does miss a lot of games for various reasons.
  13. Looks to me from this angle that Danworth scored a goal. (1:19) Also IMO it looked like Danworth reacted (before tripping over Fleury) as if he had scored. I don't think Fleury ever touched or deflected the puck on the shot. It looked like it went over him, though the announcer didn't see it and made it sound like he made the save. When shot, the puck was fluttering and it hit a vertical (hanging?) small black stick in the net. It may have hit the crossbar but I think it hit something under the crossbar that was in the net and bounced out quickly. At least that's what I can tell from this angle.
  14. Seriously I was wondering if anyone knows where I can place a bet on the Bills to just make it to the Super Bowl.
  15. Reinhart with his 26th, 27th and 28th tonight. That makes 7 goals the last 5 games. Will he hit 60 goals this year?
  16. Titts for everyone!
  17. Love Mitts but Tage needed to be there last year, but got injured and should be voted for this year, if only for the slapshot competition.
  18. Sabres needed a big shot of confidence, especially Thompson. Maybe now it's off and running, hopefully.
  19. I cannot believe Granato keeps playing Thompson on the PK. What an idiot!
  20. It would be nice if the Sabres had a real, professional coaching staff and management after all these years. But we as fans don't deserve a professionally-run organization. We deserve to be beggars, clingers-on, bottom-feeders in the NHL; a feeder/developmental team in a professional league, where teams can easily pick off our best players who have become disgruntled with the non-stop losing. This is our role and the role of small markets in pro sports leagues. Almost is good enough. Instead or griping, we should get down on our knees and thank Terrance J. Pegula for keeping Buffalo in the NHL and not moving elsewhere, even if we have become a perennially losing team run by non-professional hockey men, just so Terrance can have tight control of the team and culture and not get dominated and bamboozled by real hockey men running this organization. After all, Terrance's vision is being fulfilled...our lineup is flush with #1 draft choices and it's only a matter of time that we will be gifted wins for our sheer talent, right? Seriously, the time for patience is long-over.
  21. On the latest "After the Whistle," Rivet and Peters discuss Sabres coaching and management. They powerfully discuss how Ellis didn't get any credit for last year's top power play and the absolute disgrace of Sabres management passing over the assistants to coach the team in favor of Appert. I think this is by far the best Sabres podcast. They're rude, they're crude and they're good. Ihttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/episode-384-coaching-calling-up/id1590573108?i=1000640341622

  23. I don't know why the Bills are the only team in the NFL that cannot successfully run a screen pass. It's so basic.
  24. I think Dahlin might be on the path of becoming another Eichel in Buffalo -- He'll get mad and force his way out. No good player will stand for this kind of chronic mismanagement for too long. Losing is a disease. He's already mad.
