  1. I think at least some of it has to do with the fragile psyche of the young team. With all the losing over the years, there is now a dodgy relationship with the fans . Most of the players, besides maybe Okposo and Girgensons, don't understand the history. They just hear a lot of booing and it gets them anry. Dahlin and Thompson recently spoke about this. So the players come out flat in the first and get the yips when they almost expect the crowd to boo them. Then losing became a habit.
  2. Never bring a Sabre to a gunfight.
  3. I agree with PA. No track record Adams is unqualified for an NHL GM position and was only given the role because Pegula liked him and could dominate him. But Adams' hands are tied in more ways than one...Besides Pegula's odious influence, any free agents worth their salt refuse to come to Buffalo and most if not just about all have the Sabres on their no-trade list because of the shoddy state of this team. Everybody in the league knows that Buffalo is stuck in the mud because of the clueless owner...
  4. I could see Rezztek increasing puckhandling and passing and shooting accuracy. Shooting speed, I'm not so sure.
  5. Zdeno Chara recently bought into a hockey tape company called Rezztek. It's a new kind of tape that acts like sandpaper. Maybe Thompson can shoot faster and Dahlin can pass more accurately with the tape. Some NHL players are already using it...you never know. https://www.nhl.com/news/zdeno-chara-making-impact-with-innovative-blade-grips
  6. Keep the anger and hate consistent and take it out on the next team, then the next...
  7. On another note, Carson Briere, son of former Sabre great Danny, and his friend Patrick Carozzi, got sentenced to 15 months probation for throwing a woman's wheelchair down a flight of stairs at a bar in Pennsylvania earlier this year. The wheelchair belonged to a woman who was in the bathroom at the time. She had lost her legs in 2021 in a car accident. https://nypost.com/2023/12/21/sports/carson-briere-gets-punished-for-throwing-wheelchair-downstairs/
  8. This board has taken a decidedly overwhelming negative tone lately. Almost all the threads are have cringeworthy headlines/content. I know, we've gone through 12 years of this ***** and we've had it. We care too much. We're trying to make lemonade out of lemons. Except the lemons are rancid. OK. I know things look bad right now. We've blown off steam from the 9-4 loss. Get over it. It's a long season and things can rebound once they get the injured players back and if KA will get off his keester and get us a #1 goalie.
  9. First he bought the Sabres. First thing he did was remake the lockeroom to the tune of $10 million. Then he spent a lot of money on players. The money didn't help and the players left. Losing ensued. Things weren't going well, then he went crying to LaFontaine. I heard he was literally crying. Then he sacked LaFontaine. Then he went to the NHL to seek advice on who to hire. When you have to go to the NHL to seek advice on who to hire, YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.
  10. We all dreaded it when he announced that Kim was going to be "President for life." That has changed. She is no longer in the picture. In fact, she has completely disappeared from view. Pegula is in hiding from Sabres fans. That has changed too. It wasn't always like that. RJ, the face and voice of the franchise, is gone, that's change. Pegula, as thick-headed as he is, must notice all the rejections he has gotten from players and coaches he wanted to woo here with his big money. Money isn't everything. It's the situation. And this one is dire and unfixable under this Hindenburg of Hockey.Change could happen, even to someone as intractible as Pegula.
  11. Home? The Sabres have no home. I was thinking about this..it's been haunting me. Twelve years of extreme losing has turned the KeyBank Center into a lions' den for the home team. The team is filled with young players who have impressionable mindsets..as well as inexperienced coaches and executives who are supposed to be in control. In twelve years the once-lively, supportive and loyal fans who in its history have been among the best in the NHL have become ultra jaded, mortified with an avalanche of poor results and quick to boo with gusto. Most other times, the place is a morgue. Home games must have a deadly effect on players who are very young and not much better for vets. The players must really dread home games in anticipation of the very negative response of the fans, who in truth are booing Pegula's extreme mismanagement. The players are being thrown to the wolves every game at Keybank Center and they must hate playing at home. Okposo is right. These players are not responsible for all the losing over 12 years. Pegula is solely responsible. But the only ones who have been here for all 12 years are the fans. The players must certainly be sick of losing but they have no idea. The fans are the ones who have suffered for over a decade and it's showing. Pegula couldn't have done a better job at ruining this franchise. He needs to sell soon. He is a disaster at hockey.
