  1. I'd be willing to bet someone here will google it.
  2. He gets 41 games for betting on other sports. Can someone explain to me how that's justified? Is it simply a case of him being involved in some kind of low-level mob-type bookie? If he were doing this on the OFFICIAL BETTING SITE OF THE OTTAWA SENATORS, would he be punished? There has got to be way more to this story.
  3. I really disliked Greenway by the end of last season and I thought the bit of news that came out after the season that he was battling injury was just some kind of management running cover for him situation--that's how negative I felt. Boy was I wrong. I really like his play on the ice this season and it makes me wonder what kind of difference he'd have made down the stretch last season if he were health.
  4. Novikov is a difference maker even if a non-obvious one.
  5. I really like Greenway at this point and I’ll be the first to admit I didn’t like him last season. He’s quite the complimentary player.
  6. Can't blame Comrie on this one. Buffalo outplayed Montreal for most of the game. I want to know what's going on with Tuch though.
  7. Except the 10 game win streak was, itself, worrisome to anyone not caught up in the emotions. 9 of the 10 games were single goal differentials and 7 of the 10 were OT/SO. That's basically coinflip games. There was a return to the mean--and a hard one at that--which was to be expected. 11-3-1 in November was balanced by 2-12-2 in March (also a departure from the mean).
  8. Not sure I want Comrie in net tonight if that's going to mean UPL against Ottawa. That's not a statement against Comrie. That's a statement against UPL. 5-3 Buffalo.
  9. Is this true even if a player is past the 9 game mark and has a second injury and returns from IR? I’m curious because I can’t find anything specific about it. I can’t find one about waiver exempt conditioning stints either.
  10. Need the boys to win this in regulation so I can see the whole game and make my beer league game on time. First hockey game in 14 years. Gonna be brutal.
  11. Benson needs to take shorter shifts
  12. It was. That's the funniest bit.
  13. Man, Laval just let Kulich walk in there, get the puck, and shoot. That's a bold strategy.
  14. Appert said he's scratching players based on rotations and matchups because he has the "good problem" of "too many quality players" and even went so far as to publicly thank the "veterans"--I assume Stillman and others--for understanding part of his job is getting younger players ice time and the need to share the load. At least based on what was said, Stillman wasn't scratched due to his effort, health, conditioning or play. Fun fact: Novikov has played better in the AHL and looked more like he belongs so far this season than Ryan Johnson has--despite the latter's better performance in the preseason.
  15. I'm not sure I disagree with you about the strength, but I think he's better off sticking it out and learning in the NHL. It also helps immensely that Greenway has seemingly found his game. In the very least he'll get 9 games to see how he responds. Your take might not be popular, but it's not unreasonable.
  16. I agree that losing at home is unacceptable from the culture perspective. Obviously this is just conjecture, but I suspect DG prefers the 'disappointed dad' route for sending a message to the team as opposed to Torts' style of just unloading at anyone and everyone. They can both be effective if they fit the personality and culture of the team as well as the coach. It would be hard to take DG seriously if he suddenly showed up one day screaming at players. It's not his style. Of course, if that's how he's managing the locker room, I'm disappointed that he's not making comments to that effect publicly and I think that's probably what you're saying here. He should present the same message to the media that he does in the locker room (worded differently but the core is the same). The game should have been won and he is disappointed in players not meeting expectations. You don't necessarily need to publicly admonish someone in order to indicate they didn't reach expectations. In the past, he's made comments to that effect (VO at the end of last season), but he is generally too reserved--at least in my opinion--on public comments, and I believe he's probably that way in the locker room as well.
  17. Benson just made the correct decision to shoot that… as an 18 year old rookie. Love it.
  18. From the outside looking in, I will say I think Granato made a mistake with his handling/allocating the preseason games. The Sabres gave too many games to rookies and too few games getting the top lines together. The organization is too far along in the rebuild to give this much ice time to evaluating rookies. It is what it is. I think it's far worse of an issue in the NFL than it is in the NHL, but it's still something they should keep in mind for next offseason.
  19. I’m starting to feel I’m the only one left who doesn’t think the sky is falling. Sabres win this one by at least 4. Tampa can’t matchup effectively and the mismatches become apparent. Sabres confidence gets a boost and it creates a snowball effect of momentum.
