I'm not cherrypicking anything, I think Casey has had a good season.

And you would be cherry picking, instead of looking at the season in it's entirety.

But the prospect that would replace him would be a rookie that would need a couple years to develop as well, so you're not getting much of a benefit overall for that move. I don't think he's that easily replaceable. Trade VO/Hinestroza/Jost before Casey is a better idea IMO

I'm not sure why people think he's a lock to improve the Sabres defence right from the start. He's a prospect - to give some perspective Kale Clague was also drafted in the 2nd round, 51st overall.

I know many are dubious to the value of the plus/minus stat, but this isn't about that. Do you know who leads the Sabres without peaking? Owen Power at +12. Here's how I see the goaltending going for the rest of this season: Carolina - UPL Rangers - Levi Devils - Comrie Then depending on if we're eliminated or not Sens - Anderson if we're out, Levi if we're alive BJs - Levi if he didn't play the Sens, or UPL

We were not likely to do much damage in the playoffs this year anyways. I wouldn't give up any assets from this team until the offseason. Making the playoffs this season wasn't a necessity, next year will be. I'm not frustrated at all, I'm enjoying this development season for what it is, and next year who knows how far we can take it with another year of maturity.

It's better than that - we have three games at hand on the Islanders - if we win those three we're tied but we'd have more wins

If the Islanders lose at Carolina tomorrow, we're 6 points back with 3 games at hand. It's not entirely out of the realm of possibility to still catch them. They look like a team that could go on a losing skid, hopefully. 😀
