You need good bottom 6 players too. Especially tenacious ones. We got bigger and more physical. Now if they do not stick check we win!

Sabres fans complain to just whine and complain. I get being jaded, but this move makes this team better and gets rid of a give away machine. He is not a superstar but a solid 4-6 that plays well and moves the puck decent. Definitely an upgrade over Clifton. You know you are all right, we need another player that may or may not help in 4 years. 🙄

Solid dman coming back to bolster our crappy defense. A 4-6 dman with good analytics. Also size too. A help the team now player but not flashy. Totally OK with this. We do not need more prospects!!!!

So i did say i loved the trade. My reasons: - Peterka can score, but he is a defensive liability. His poor stick swipes in our own end actually made me angry at times (Along with the other Sabres that do thaT!) - If you did not notice the Reinhart puss on Peterka's face last year, you knew he wanted out. - IMHO Peterka did not have that right to not want to be here. Get rid of future locker room cancer. We do not need a crybaby in the locker room. - We needed a physical defenseman that plays on the right side. Kesselring looks like he fits that bill and he is YOUNG!!!! - Doan is a player we need more of!!! A tenacious forechecker that can lay the body! On a team full of stick checkers he will be a pleasant change! - This temporarily helps our cap situation and allows KA to get another top 6 forward (Not holding my breath on that one though) OK, on the other side, was this ideal? NO!! Getting rid of a 30 goal scorer is hard, even if he sucked defensively. But Peterka did not want to be here. We got what this team needs to play against grown up teams!! Fingers crossed both of the incoming guys work out!

Exactly!!! Not to mention he was a tire fire defensively. Both players brought in have what this team needs. Some smart physicality and they are both tenacious! Doan forechecks like crazy and has decent speed. In this case i think we were overvaluing JJ. I still think we need to add another Solid Dman and a goal scorer. I have zero faith in Adams, but holds on to a bit of hope he can get this fixed.

I actually loved JBD play last season. I have mentioned this a few times. I get it, small sample size, but on a defensive deficient team, he stood out in my eyes. A solid 5-6 defensive guy that can be bumped to 3-4 for short periods and not cost you anything as he definitely handles his own end well.

I am with you here Ink. Just watching JJ play last year reminded me of Reinhart in his last year. Zero emotion. This team can score. This team cannot play defense. JJ was one of the biggest zeros in defensive play on the team. Scoring 30 does not mean crap if you give up 50! I do like both players that came back. IF they live up to what they can be then we did ok. Physical and forechecking. Yes please!! There is still work to be done, but i think we are all jaded with lack of playoffs. Defense just got better! Is that not part of the problem?

Ok, i HATE the trade, but love what we got back. IMHO we did not get enough, unless Kesserling turns into that solid top 4 physical defensive dman (Which is well in his wheelhouse) and Doan turns into a solid insane forchecking 3rd liner. IF JJ stays where he currently is at and Doan and Kesserling are what we hope then the trade is good. If not, then we just got screwed!!! Either way, we got more physical and harder to play against and gave up a 30 goal scorer that does not know the word defense.

I actually like JBD. He played well on the backend. Steady defensively responsible. Cannot ask for anything more from him as a player

He is 100% making this pick. No imagination to make this team better and his trading skills are far from desirable.

The Sabres just need to stop doing press conferences. Prove it or get out. That needs to be this team's motto moving forward.

I get the feeling that this is going to be a typical same o same o for the Sabres. Draft best player available and bring in a lower lever FA and cross your fingers it is going to work. No major changes and typical Shampoo bottle Sabres. Wash, rinse, repeat

Really hoping he brings some common sense and a better direction to this team. Love the Stahl hiring as well. Credibility is seriously lacking here. Time for the adults to build a team that can win!!!
