Exactly!!! Not to mention he was a tire fire defensively. Both players brought in have what this team needs. Some smart physicality and they are both tenacious! Doan forechecks like crazy and has decent speed. In this case i think we were overvaluing JJ. I still think we need to add another Solid Dman and a goal scorer. I have zero faith in Adams, but holds on to a bit of hope he can get this fixed.

I actually loved JBD play last season. I have mentioned this a few times. I get it, small sample size, but on a defensive deficient team, he stood out in my eyes. A solid 5-6 defensive guy that can be bumped to 3-4 for short periods and not cost you anything as he definitely handles his own end well.

I am with you here Ink. Just watching JJ play last year reminded me of Reinhart in his last year. Zero emotion. This team can score. This team cannot play defense. JJ was one of the biggest zeros in defensive play on the team. Scoring 30 does not mean crap if you give up 50! I do like both players that came back. IF they live up to what they can be then we did ok. Physical and forechecking. Yes please!! There is still work to be done, but i think we are all jaded with lack of playoffs. Defense just got better! Is that not part of the problem?

Ok, i HATE the trade, but love what we got back. IMHO we did not get enough, unless Kesserling turns into that solid top 4 physical defensive dman (Which is well in his wheelhouse) and Doan turns into a solid insane forchecking 3rd liner. IF JJ stays where he currently is at and Doan and Kesserling are what we hope then the trade is good. If not, then we just got screwed!!! Either way, we got more physical and harder to play against and gave up a 30 goal scorer that does not know the word defense.

I actually like JBD. He played well on the backend. Steady defensively responsible. Cannot ask for anything more from him as a player

He is 100% making this pick. No imagination to make this team better and his trading skills are far from desirable.

I get the feeling that this is going to be a typical same o same o for the Sabres. Draft best player available and bring in a lower lever FA and cross your fingers it is going to work. No major changes and typical Shampoo bottle Sabres. Wash, rinse, repeat

Really hoping he brings some common sense and a better direction to this team. Love the Stahl hiring as well. Credibility is seriously lacking here. Time for the adults to build a team that can win!!!

I know there are going to be some that beat this up, but he has a decent resume and good at adding good players. The BJ are going to be a hard team to play against and he is the reason behind it.

He likes tougher players as well. I am definitely ok with his voice being added to the Team

I am happy to say this, but no thank you. Another smaller sized player that plays a smaller size game. I guess nobody is watching the playoffs with that crush kill destroy style of play. We do need more skill, but it needs to be abrasive and able to play against an abrasive style of hockey that the top teams play. The goal of this team should not be making the 8th spot, it needs to be a cup. This is far far far from a cup team!

We are going to need a hire similar to this just to be credible again.....Very sad

100% agree....But, one thing. Actually winning, will fix everything. Fix the problems and win. Make the playoffs not as the bottom seed and i bet the narrative changes.

I actually like the way he plays and hopes the Sabres keep him. If we do not and we use him as trade bait for something that we really need to make us better, i am all for that as well. I am pretty solid on Power not going anywhere and i believe he will mature and get better.

No way we are giving up JJ. Give up a 30 goal scorer under contract. If he was miserable and still put up almost 30, imagine if this team does the right thing and gets the pieces we need to make the playoffs!!

It is what it is. They had a good season. They won a round. Young players got some playoff experience. Every player needs to stay there next year.
