Please trade Casey Middlestadt. He is a turd. And what happened to the highest scoring team in the NHL? Garbage!!
Did you watch the game cuz Casey was the least of our problems. How quickly you forget about his great pass for our first goal
If you did watch the game you’d know that When the Tage line plays like they did tonight we have no chance
UPL was really good, except unfortunately for his overcommitment on the breakaway, but we need our own Hellebuyk. Switch goalies tonight, Sabres win 6-1
Jost and Ollefson we’re by far are best players - great for them/not good for the rest of the players
you think we’d learn from Winnipeg’s first two goals and actually have someone in front of their goalie once in while. We need more dirty goals

Two mishandles by skinner in the last 20 seconds unfortunately - fails on a Basic shootin and he a lane to the net there on the pass at the end
I’m being too hard on Comrie but, i honestly don’t need to see him play anymore. Having 3 goalies up is stupid
we desperately need a tough RHD who clears the front of the net - I thought we had that with 46 but he’s pretty lousy. Lubushkin was directly responsible for goal 2 and 4 against. When you contribute nothing offensively you cant play like garbage in your own zone

Comrie just does enough to lose games - it’s been that way all season. He’s not horrible but he’s just not good enough. The timing of the goals are killer and he IS allowed to make a huge save once in a while.Â
he’s an NHL backupÂ
switch goalies tonight and the Sabres are winning

I'm still going to harp on goaltending. Generally speaking your not going to win many games when you're opponent scores 4-5 goals on you. UPL has been making good saves and timely ones but the fact is at the end of the game our opponent's have routinely been scoring 4 or more goals on us. I know the lower half of our defense is weak but we wouldn't be "losing leads" with a true number one net minder IMHO. MAF wasn't happy with his game and neither should UPL.Thankfully our offense is high octane. It is fun to watch. But if our offense cools down we'll be in for another loosing streak.
UPL wasn’t the issue last night, and I’d be the first one to harp on it if he was. You switch MAF for UPL last night and Minnesota wins 10-3. A couple of fleury goals by Minn and D zone breakdowns. Can’t say he should have saved any of the 5 against + he had 6 saves in OT including a couple great ones

Quinn and Peterka with about 9 min of toi last night.Â
Rookies being eased in. They did give up a goal but I thought they played well/agressive when playingÂ

I’d had to watch the condensed game as I went to a wedding tonight. Â
ÂSome quick thoughts
1) Dahlin offensive skills are off the chart.Â
2) Power is looking like he is about to takeoff. Â He seems more confident each shift.3) Mitts has turned a corner since replacing Skinner on the top line during the suspension. Â He looks more assertive and more confident. Â He was completely locked in tonight. DG moving him to wing has allowed him to stop over thinking each play and just be natural out there. Jost has fit this team like a glove and has helped Mitts play looser. Â With the kids going cold, we needed VO and Mitts to step up and they have. Â Now if we can get all 3 top limes going.
4) Skinner has been awful since the suspension. Â He seems to be in a funk.Â
5) Our in zone D play needs work.  Mule seems off as well.  How many stupid penalties can one D take Mr Lyubushkin?6) Not UPL’s best effort, but he made some terrific saves. Â
Overall a very solid and exciting win. I agree with earlier posts that this is a team that no one wants to play. Â Speed, high skill, scoring depth, youthful exuberance, and a playing for each other attitude is a recipe for success now and in the playoffs if they make it. Â
ÂÂ
Â
Not sure why your hate for Skinner? Overall, that line was good tonight not great while the other lines (especially Mitts) made up for it. Only player I though was subpar was Samuellson - he had an off night and Bryson subbed in with Dahlin for him a lot in the 3rd. UPL was even great, despite giving up 5, overall D was suspect and Minnesota could have scored 10

Key word being "tonight". If Mittelstadt played like that all the time, or even close to all the time, nobody would say things like that.
Was at the game and Mitts was extraordinary last night. Vs Minnnesota he knew everybody back home would be watching ……

Was at the game - with what’s happened this week decided I needed to make the trip from CT for this game and tomorrow’s. Came with my son - crazy atmosphere  - not sure if it was a sellout but sure looked like it. Sat near the Sabres bench and they were going nuts when the crowd started chanting MVP for TNT after his goal.
UPL was very good despite 5 goals
not sure why everyone is saying fleury was insane - Sabres got outshot by a lot - and the 5th goal he gave up to Dahlin was hideousÂ
Dahlin was insane
middlestadt was insane - perhaps he needs to play vs his home state team every gameÂ
crowd was loud
ref tried to take game away from us in the 3rd
samuellson has a rare very bad game
we’re missing hardhitting dman but it is what it is. When Dahlin is your best checking dman, there’s an issue
amazing game now let’s go Bills - behind Buffalos bench for tomorrow’s game too

Goaltending, D depth and 3C seemed to be fatal weak spots but Jost has been adequate, Clague has been relatively solid, and UPL has been very good. With Cozens breaking out big time and others coming along this is perhaps the leap forward we'd hoped would come.Â
Yes Jost is a steal - one of the best players on the ice today. Claque is solid - was our 3rd best dman tonightÂ

10 thoughts....
What exactly is Thompson's ceiling?  It's getting to a point where it's considered a bad game if he doesn't score at least 2 or 3 points.
The trip on Skinner was as obvious as it gets.  Kuznetsov slashes UPL in the mask, undoing the snap and play has to be stopped... all within arms reach of the referee.   That's a penalty every day of the week.  Â
Samuelsson a -2, his worst outing of the season.Â
Owen Power wears glasses off the ice.  That said, I assume he wears contact lenses during games... why not wear them all day or get Lasik? Â
Who was Granato yelling at during the timeout?
UPL made some spectacular saves, but continues to struggle with rebound control, high glove and catching the puck.  Washington scouted him and took advantage.
Bryson needs to sit.
JJ Peterka looked dangerous all night, yet logged a team low 12 minutes of ice.
Mittelstadt is German for "Middle City".
That Ovechkin guy can shoot the puck, he'll be a good one.
Â
Picking on the wrong D tonight. Dahlin and Samuelsson were the problem (combined -3 and a lot of d zone sloppiness). Power and Bryson were fine; +1 eachÂ

Great win.
2 items.
1. Said before this game that UPL could cement his spot on the roster today or get himself back on the road to Ra-cha-cha. Anybody doubt he cemented his roster spot?
2. During the broadcast Dunlevy said there were a lot of NHL Brass at today's game. Did Cozens do enough today to get himself set up as the 3rd Sabre All Star? Doubt it, but it would be sweet to have him join Thompson & Dahlin in Lauderdale.
Tuch would go before cozens

My takeaways:
-Just 4 or 5 great games, but UPL can’t be sent down to Rochester at this point.
-refs and jack Edwards can suck me
-character wide and SKILL wise, we win the eichel trade especially with #19 suddenly relevant
- would have loved to hear Jeannerette announce the game today

The kids haven't looked all that great tonight.
It's amazing how much better VO an Mittlestadt look away from each other.
I don’t think the kid line has scored in the last 2-3 games, so Granato is probably trying to create a spark. Or he’s rewarding Jost who has looked very good the last few games

Different year same result - start strong, fall apart in November, season over around december
very bad goaltending, worse defense
Constantly repeating the past is a guarantee of failureÂ

same Thing with Murphy following Van Miller - can’t stand him eitherÂ

Effort good - finishing not good - no morale victories anymore -
A bit embarrassing losing to Montreal at home
goaltending looks the best it’s been for a few yearsÂ

Horrible defensive zone play tonight
when Dahlin and Power are a combined -5 with no points, the team has no chance
Dahlin has been awesome but didn’t play well today - partially fanning on that golden opp with 10 seconds left was the story of the nightÂ

Refresh my memory, could we have drafted Beniers instead of Quinn? Didn’t think so, so stupid comparison. If you want to argue taking Beniers over Power, you could do that. You’d be wrong but you could do thatÂ
