Just some quick thoughts. I thought Skinner played really well. I would have given him the first star. He made some really good passes. He is adept at hanging onto the puck and twirling around in tight passes to set others up or get off a shot. He was our most noticeable player. And he may be our most feisty player.

It's getting repetitive to point out the obvious that Dahlin is usually one of the best players on the ice for a particular game but also one of the best players in the league.

Krebs made a nice pass that was converted. And so did Mitts.

Power is solid now but he is going to be a top tier player very soon. He plays with such instinctive intelligence on offense and defense. Sometimes you don't realize how big he is because he can skate so well in tight spaces. I'm sure I'm jumping the gun but he plays like an anchor defenseman already.

Okposo is our most consistent player.

Hinostroza was a good pickup. He's fast and an active player.

The Sabres are an entertaining team to watch.

The best decision this organization made this year was the hiring of Don Granato. The two players who would second that opinion are Skinner and Dahlin. He unchained them and set them free to exploit their natural talents.

    Okposo and tage too

Vegas is at CGY on Thursday and at EDM on Saturday. Those are 2 teams that a) can easily defeat Vegas on home ice, and b) should be supremely motivated to keep Vegas out of the playoffs. Because if healthy and without any cap limitations, Vegas could get very dangerous. Calgary needs to keep Vegas from getting the #4 seed in case Dallas flounders down the stretch and Edmonton needs to keep Vegas from getting the #3 seed in case the Kings collapse.

Yep - those are 2 huge games.  Other than LV getting a loser point, last night was perfect. Who had DAL beating TB - I didn't.

Vesey and even Fox came out and said they weren’t signing with the draft teams. As far as I know, Portillo hasn’t done this (yet).

The good thing for the Sabres is Portillo is very close friends with Dahlin and at the least, knows Power well.  He can also sign next year, after the college season, and burn one year of the ELC which he can't do if he signs elsewhere

You could do both. Trade back from the first, pick up a 2nd a 3rd and a 5th, then trade your 4th and 2 5ths for another third, move your remaining 6ths and a 7th for a 5th. Now you've got 6 picks total: two 2nd, three 3rds, and a 5th. Or maybe you package a player and a pick for someone/something.

All this depends of course, if you've got a guy you love in the first you just take him  and ***** the rest. But draft picks are lotto tickets.

Related but seperate thoughts, this set of graphs is interesting when it comes to pick value by position:

Interior DL and QB? Huge dropoffs. DBs and WRs? Not so much.

Like this rationale a lot especially considering how deep the draft is.  With only 6 picks, fewer get cut to the taxi sqaud

Wild game in Belleville, 6-1 Amerks late 2nd.

    Peterka 2g,2a

    Quinn 2g,2a

    4/5 on the PP

Both are doing things rarely seen by 20 year olds in the AHL (though Quinn may be 21??).  Future is bright - KA needs ot add a legitimate goalie next near

  6. It's not one of his "super famous" calls played over and over again, but, I always remember one he called in the playoffs (maybe 1974 or 75) but it wasn't the fog goal;

" Off the boards to Martin, Martin, a long pass to Robert, he would have been gone.  Here goes Robert, going in on goal, going in on goal, he shoots, he scores! Robert, Rene Robert .... and the Sabres have won, the Sabres have won.  Robert, shooting it on a breakaway, and it's all over, Buffalo has won."

That was my first memory of RJ and obviously, I still have the call memorized.

The other one I remember vividly (though not in verbatim) is RJ calling Danny Gare's 50th goal.  The one when Martin (also going for his 5oth) shot and Gare scored on the rebound.  Gare got a hattrick that game to get 50, while unfortunately Martin, only needing 1 goal for 50 didn't get it. Here is Ted Darling's call on TV but I was listening to RJ call it on radio

Lots of legal experts chiming in but none of the actual attorney's on this board have spoken up.  Hmmmm....

If the Sharks buy out Kane, and free up $7m how about:

William Eklund, Nicholas Meloche, Tomas Hertl (cash dump but a solid player that could help shelter Cozens and Middlestadt) and 2022 1st for Jack

Hertl has one year left on contract at $5.5m, could fetch a decent return at the trade deadline but does have a modified NMC.

Sabres were rumored to love Eklund

No improvement as of yet. Not surprising. This organization sucks major donkey balls. I'm pretty much done for the next few years. This is pitiful.

This board overreacts so much - I can only guess it would blow up if we got a 2nd and a 4th liner like the Rags got for Buchevich.  Trade does look light - yes - but it's time to change the culture.  We need leaders like Josh Allen not douches like Masshole jack and Smiley Sam.

And just our luck. Get the #1 with no clear #1. Regardless who goes, even in the top 5, are still few years away from NHL ready.

Nah, Power could play in the NHL next year.  He's playing top line minutes at the worlds now, Not the top professionals but still professionals and he's looking fine as an 18 year old playing there.

Power is a better D prospect than Beniers is a F prospect.

Any return for Eichel and/or Reinhart will include a top C coming back, so not really a need at that position.

Take the known commodity in Power, a guy with his size and skill set doesn't come around very often, they should jump at the chance to take him... he'll eat 25min a game, he's a Seth Jones type... could transform the back-end on this team, and the modern game is largely driven from the back-end.

He has a ton more hockey sense and transitional game than Jones.  Jones is a Risto type, Power is like neither of them

    We're not drafting Power.

    Matthew Beniers.

I doubt it.  I firmly believe Cozens>Beniers, so I don't see us drafting Beniers.  I like Eklund a little better than Beniers, though I know we're not taking Ehlund 1oa.  Hughes and Clarke could easily end up being better than Power.  Not an ideal year to be picking 1oa
