If Kevyn Adams is stupid enough to trade the 16th overall pick for a 34 year old winger with 1 year left on his deal... won't have to worry about winning a cup in my lifetime.
Despite Pegs love for Kane, not happening. He might make sense as an UFA next year but not this year, giving up draft capital

I do not disagree. But the Bills started winning right off the bat with a new regime, who then masterfully drafted and stud QB. The Sabres are still basement dwellers. That is why our own draft picks are turning down a chance to make the squad left and right. It is quite disturbing...
Not exactly - they kind of lucked into the playoffs the 1st year and were 6-10 the 2nd year. Took 3 years to be a "real" contender. Of course, 3 years in KA's timeline now

Would you trade #16 for Dach? Someone further along in their development than whoever the pick might be?
I'd probably say thats too high for us.
God no, not even sure I'm trading 28 for him. 41, sure

Really like this for the Sens.
I'm not so sure - I think it's pretty fair value. It's not all that hard piling up players playing with Pat Kane.

Looking over my personal draft rankings, I think there will be opportunities to address defense outside of the first round if needed. There are going to be a bunch of LHD and RHD that go in the 2-4th rounds that are quality players with real NHL shots and the good news is, we don't need them to carry their pairings, just be decent.
Also Seamus Casey will probably slide and I wondered often if he is too low on my rankings but he is a intriguing guy who will most likely be available outside of the 1st and probably 2nd rounds. It is going to be a weird draft because basically everyone from 25-60 you could rank in just about any order based on preferences around skills you covet.
I agree - my rankings show a ton of D available in rounds 2-4 that either have size and defensive ability or are small and are fast with a offensive upside. Of course, I don't have any in those rounds with both, those are top 15 players - Nemac and Jiricek and maybe Korchinski and Mintyukov. Though, as LHD, the latter 2 don't interest me as much

Tonight draft the best hockey players you can instead of pigeonholing yourself into certain positions.
true - always BPA as these guys won't play for us for at least 2-3 years. If all else is equal, though, look for centers a D. I don't really want Lekkerimaki at 9 and Yurov at 16. Lekk is a bit small and Yurov may be available at 28 due to the Russian thing

Out of 9 picks in the first 4 rounds combined, we’ve taken 8 wingers and 1 D
Yep, always better drafting centers as they can move to wing easily. Wingers don't move to center typically. Tonight look for BPA at 9, center at 16 and D at 28 (unless by some miracle Nemec or Jiricek falls to 9 or we move up for one of them)

I don’t think he’s drafted a relevant centre yet fwiw
In general I would guess it’s a dicey play to go three straight draft years without adding a C of note to the pipeline. Would think they should prob take one in the top 2 rounds this year
WGR said something like, in his 2 drafts he's only drafted 3 dmen in 12 picks, and one was Power. Look for us drafting a lot of centers, a lot of dmen (hopefully most being RHD) and a goalie in the draft

I was just reading that thread and you are right, the view of Murray is pretty negative. I think he could be better than that but he would be a bit of a gamble. Reclamation restart kind of thing. idk, I'm just not that negative on him myself.
The trades in that thread seem crazy though. If one of those 3 way retention draft pick swap deals actually happened I'd be gobsmacked.
A gamble but definitely worth taking, considering the trade return. If he sucked you send him to the AHL and it's UPL time

Mafia should flood Murray's social media, if he has one. wouldn't hurt. Buffalo starting goalie has to be > than AHL (what Ottawa did to him last year)

Honestly, we could trade for Kuemper's rights and do a pretty rich deal (he's currently at $4.5MAAV) and I wouldn't be mad about it.
He's still a top five to 12-ish goalie in this league.
But why would we trade for a player who's an UFA in 6 days?

Guess I can’t give him too much credit for a deal that didn’t go through, but holy ***** Adams, nice work buddy!
That would have been a coup.
It would have meant getting a starting goalie (though an average one) and something like Jiricek at 7 and Savoie at 9. fukkkkkkkkkkkkk

I was able to get an Ottawa fan to agree to
9 for 7, 87(Bos's 3rd), Murray and their 2023 2nd. I think its pretty good to be honest.
Like it if at least one of the RHD is available at 7. If not, no need to trade up to 7, you're getting the same potential at forward at 9. Too bad you're not KA

Move him or Bryson to Vegas for Hague. They need to move out money and will be looking for cheap options that can play minutes.
Solid idea

Many lists have Kemell and Lekkerimaki around the #9 spot. They sound like good prospects but the Sabres have Quinn, Peterka, Rosen, Kisakov and Poltapov as skilled wings. I really want the Sabres to take a C at that pick unless Nemec /Jiricek slide.
My order of preference, assuming Wright and Cooley are gone, are:
Savoie
Nazar
Kasper (would rather pick at 16 but I think he won’t be there)
Gauthier (may be better suited to W but will be a C in the NCAA)
If Nemec and/or jiricek make it to 6 or 7, I’d do what it takes move up a couple of spots

If the Sabres are unsure if they can sign Ryan Johnson, they should trade him as part of a trade up in the draft.
True but obviously the acquiring team would have the same concerns

I’ve wanted Kuemper for 3 years but there’s no reason to believe he’d want to come here unless for $$$ if COL can’t afford him

More draft tea leaves. Snuggerud, son of a former Sabres, interviewed with the Sabres and TP was there. Jack Hughes is rooming with Levi this summer. Bichsel is teammates and friends with Isak Rosen in Sweden. All notes are from Sabres.com
Sabres didn’t talk with Hughes at the combine for whatever reason…

Great questions!. I wonder if Quinn and Peterka would benefit from another year in Rochester?
Peterka had a great playoff. Playoffs for rookoies can be tough, certainly a learnign experience. For instance, in Vanek's first year with Buffalo he was benched quite a bit in the playoffs by Ruff.

Sure looks like the lavas guy deflected the clearing pass over the boards and shouldn’t have been a penalty but tough to tell. Funny how refs hide their whistles in OT but love calling the mandatory over the glass penalty even when it might have been an erroneous call.

Review showed the clock expired before the ball entered the goal.
Great - video looked like it went in the goal well before time expired …but not going to argue

Looks like he scored before time ran out - what happened?

Rochester getting badly misplayed but refs bad again. 2-0 Utica and Amerk guying literally tackled going to the net to get a pass. Right in front of ref who ignores it and Utica takes over and scores 15 seconds later. Same ref then calls a much less blatant hook on Rochester 20 seconds later. 4-0 Utica game over
