  1. 14. Joshua Eernisse, RW, Michigan-Big Ten

Eernisse’s pure numbers won’t get you overly excited, and this is not a forward who gets power play time at Michigan. But he is a big, fast, and highly competitive winger. He is very physical and brings it every night. Eernisse uses his feet and good enough skill to take pucks to the net and creates enough offense in a highly translatable way to the pro game.

This is a guy I would love to see them sign. They can’t find these guys to save their life. Bottom 6 winger who is highly aggressive

  2. The Ray of Hope is the Vancouver Canucks. Same core but they brought in Tocchet, Gonchar, Foote as a coaching staff and changed everything around.
I believe the right coaching staff that demands accountability and structure could turn this team into a playoff squad next season.

Whether the Sabres are willing to do it and have any clue who those coaches would be is a completely different conversation.

  3. I see 2C and top 4 RHD as big holes.

Cozens needs to be 3C or RW.

Chandler Stephenson, Monahan and Duchene  are 3 guys that could fill that role.

Demelo, Matt Roy, longer shot:Pesce, would help Power immensely.

If they could add one up front and one on the backend I think it would go along way.

I fully expect UPL-Levi next year.

A Stephenson- Roy offseason seems the most realistic especially with Vegas just extending Hanifin.

I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE IN ANY OF THIS HAPPENING 😁

  4. So the only valid reason to bring Granato back is the contract extension they gave him last year.🤬

FWIW Jeff Marek put in Hus Rink Fries Weekly Blog he wonders if Seth Appert and a veteran assistant would be the direction the Sabres go if they move on from Granato. He is the first national media member to bring up Appert

    Veteran Assistant=Matt Ellis😜

Appert would most likely be the move especially if they go another couple rounds this post season.

I want to see a departure from the Sabres norm.  Berube, Boudreau, a successful coach let go by another organization this offseason. A move that says that Terry has had enough and wants to get serious about fixing this mess.

  5. Power will be an elite offensive dman. He will never drive people through the boards or drop the gloves and demolish someone. If that is what you want him to be that is your problem.

He needs a coach to help him with blocking out and clearing the front of the net. He would benefit greatly from a more simple, structured defensive system.

  6. I wonder if this move and the money being thrown around to make it happen peaks Pegula’s interest as far as selling the team. Would have to be a buyer willing to keep the team put.

To change directions, another aggressive owner will make things interesting in the trade and free agent market. Interesting which Coyotes players become available. I think most see Lawson Crouse as a good fit. Liam O’Brien as a 4th liner who is aggressive and will enforce would be a nice change of pace for this lineup too.

Wonder what the move means for Armstrong and the front office. Does Smith want a fresh start like an expansion team with all new hires under his watch.

I'd prefer a Gallant or some other veteran coach out there but the Lindy with Peca idea has appeal. I would actually be willing to roll the dice on Peca as head coach right off. Unproven, yes, but he was my favourite Sabre in his era and he played the right way and hard all the time. If he can bring that ethic to this team we might be okay. He'd need some good assistants though. A good PP guy and a good guy to work with the D primarily.

You’ll get HC Matt Ellis with Associate HC Adam Mair and like it😛

I see that former Sabre property Devin Cooley stopped 49 of 50 shots last night to help San Jose beat Seattle.

I’m glad Adams unloaded him. He might block Levi otherwise, and Tokarski is a great guy.

Cooley is garbage. He had one great preseason game too and then absolutely stunk all season. If you don’t watch him play don’t comment after one good game.

Marks Stone cleared to practice with Vegas. Who could have seen this one coming?😂

We haven't made the playoffs in 13 years, the bar is so low that any change is positive right now. What is going on isn't working.

I don’t see that as change though, just shuffling the deck chairs. They already work collaboratively and Adams as President reporting to Pegula would get final say and push Pegula’s ideas.

I think a lot of ppl don't talk about Adams being fired because it seems impossible.

I'd like Adams moved into a role of whatever we wanna call it, but he basically just is the liaison between gm and Terry. Move Karmanos into the GM role and Ventura to assistant GM. Adams job is to keep Terry up to speed, offer his opinion, stay out of the way.

I agree but do we really know that Karmanos is a better GM option? We hope that would be the better setup but do we really know? The fact the rumors were the Canucks wanted to offer Karmanos the GM role is a positive.

If anyone will get the President role it will be Adams but Inthink Terry wants to keep it and keep Adams as GM.

You have been a very positive force here lately.

The build momentum got a good chuckle from me.

I just want them to win at home, and let the kids see reasons to like this team.   I really do not want to them fall behind and have the crowd get upset.

To think there is a whole generation of kids that have no concept of what a Sabres playoff game is.

  12. I always enjoy following prospects and the draft but I could absolutely care less who they draft this year. We have danced this dance way too many times already.

Trade the damn pick for someone tangible. Give the fanbase some hope that you are remotely serious about getting serious.

Pretty sure Rod did not coach Jeff.  He started after they traded him.  Possible he said I don’t want a floater on my team after looking at tape, but the Hurricanes made a lot of moves in an attempt to play a different style of hockey.  Laying their failure at the feet of Skinny is a bit much.  The guy can be a net negative, but his skill set is top three and last year on a poor defensive team was a +15.

@Crusader1969 In answer to your question, placing Skinner on the third line with defensively responsible players who can play a two way game could yield a lot better results than we have seen in years.  In terms of LW, I think Quinn has the highest potential with goal scoring and plays a better defensive game.  Similarly JJP is ascending so I plug him on FL2.  The third line does not have to be a no skill/checking line.  Better match ups and opportunities of possession for Skinner if facing an Islanders “identity line”.  Plus, unless the cost to extricate Jeff is low (2nd round) I would rather use picks and prospects to acquire talent and not to hope “addition by subtraction” works.  Skinner is not Diggs.

Rod was the one that demanded Skinner be traded. After the trade he said that you can’t win with players like Skinner who only play the way he does.  He wasn’t wrong.

  14. If Granato is back then I am not. We have seen exactly who he is as a coach and how these players don’t respond under him when big games are played. Poor starts to the season, poor starts to games. Special teams, especially the PP has been a joke. I can’t watch him behind the bench anymore.

If Granato is back they are 14 years without playoffs.
