See the mods deleted what I said. I stand by it. It's garbage to accuse Tage of using PED'S, a post you have left up. 1.5% below career average sh% doesn't indicate ped use. Absolutely disgusting commentary.

I am not a mod but if I were I think I would be far more likely to remove the reckless, stupid and borderline defamatory one you replied to than yours.

I will be stunned if we get anything of value for Olofsson. If he was worth anything to other NHL teams he would have been traded months ago.  He is a scoring winger who can't get in the line-up ahead of a sheltered 18 year-old on pace for 9 goals, on a team that struggles to generate offence that has a wretched power-play.  And he makes 4.75 million per year.  That said, if he were to be moved it would not be at all stunning if he scored at a 30 goal or better pace wherever he goes.

He is the perfect example of a guy who is smoke and mirrors that a shrewd GM would get rid of while he still had value before everyone else in the league caught on.

I know your shtick is to bitch and moan, but it should be noted that both teams are much better than the Sabres are.

Vancouver has the NHL’s best record. Seattle has won nine in a row.

San Jose, Chicago & Tampa are all very winnable games.

Team is 7th bottom in the league.

Almost everyone on the roster has seen their play fall off a cliff.

The coach and his staff are completely in over their heads with no answers and have their jobs because the organization has no standards and refuses to hire actual pros with track records of success.

The GM who was the most comically unqualified GM hire since noted lunatic Charles Wang made his backup goalie Garf his new GM failed miserably this offseason and was fine with putting all his chips on a college goalie with 7 NHL games despite anyone with an above room temperature IQ knowing it would end in disaster.

13 in a row is all but a lock and it's painfully obvious nothing is going to change.

This is the most incompetent failure of an organization in the modern era of the sport so yes, I think "bitching and moaning" about this isn't "shtick",  it's a response to a situation that is completely unacceptable and needs to change.

I don't know enough about Pegula to know if he's sick and detestable or not. Maybe if he'd kept LaFontaine around as his King Clancy we'd be on to something? Simpleton? I doubt that, but he definitely doesn't understand hockey.

Hey, for all I know it's god's punishment for all the frakking.

Just to make things clear as I sense some people did not understand what I said:

While Pegula is a simpleton who constantly does stupid things and gets conned like a mark at the county fair on a regular basis he is not evil, he is simply very foolish.

Ballard is one of the most horrible people in the history of hockey (Google "Maple Leaf Gardens Pedophile Ring" which he essentially turned a blind eye to, and that's just the tip of the iceberg).

Ya, I've got no problems with an emotional owner who wants to be sitting right up there with the GM and President or whatever they call whatever upper management. He can cheer a goal and yell at a penalty and it's great if he says "what the f's wrong with that guy?" when a player blows a play or even "whatever we pay that guy it's too much" BUT like any good CEO he needs to hire good people and let them do their jobs. The results on ice lead to their own reviews and if it's bad they get fired.

Pegula is the new Harold Ballard.

The key difference is that both are/were incompetent but Pegula is a clueless simpleton whereas Ballard was a sick and detestable human being with no redeeming value whatsoever. Sadly he is not currently burning in Hell for eternity as even Satan has standards for admission.

The question was a legit attempt to see where Sabrespace applies blame, for what is a team that certainly isn’t better than last year’s but maybe isn’t much worse either.

@DarthEbriate seems to think Adam’s dropped the ball for not acquiring the correct pieces.

@sabremike skirts the roster question but sees a team that he thinks looks worse than it did and blames the coaches.

From reading the site, I know other are blaming the players. (Pretty much every one of them except for Quinn, Peterka, Benson and Ryan Johnson. You know, the one who haven’t been around long enough to get too disappointed in)

Look at the rosters of some of the teams above us and then say it's the roster and not the fact that the coaching sucks. Do you SERIOUSLY think the Caps, Flyers and Islanders have better rosters? Do think it's an accident that people who ***** sucked here leave and almost overnight do a 180 with their new teams? How many times are people not going to learn their lesson about blaming the players and getting crowned as hard as possible?

They are 18-20-4 and 7 points out. Given the roster, what should their record be?

(Last year on Jan. 13, they were 20-18-2, 6 points out.)

Last year at this time our record was worse than our play merited, this year it is better than it merits.

In a bit of an eyebrow raiser, the Hockey Guy gave the Sabres an "F" at the halfway point of the season.

The Sabres did have the 9th hardest schedule in the first half but they do have an easier second half.

    Here's his rationale (6:35)

How could anyone in their right mind NOT give this team an F? This season has been a monumental catastrophe and if the organization had any standards whatsoever the entire coaching staff would've already been sacked.

That, or he'll take a major paycut to continue to get to wear his blue and white underoos.

To some degree I feel bad for the guy because the decision to ***** over the Isles and go to Toronto wasn't his (and I think you know who I'm referring to).

I have made the arguement that the Penguins did not tank in either situation you described above.  Mario is close.  The Penguins still stunk with Mario.  Jagr was draffted 5 or 6 years after Mario.  Jagr was a rookie when the Penguins won their first cup in 1991.  What put them over the top was the fabulous trade with Hartford.

They were lucky to be terrible when Crosby was available in the draft.  Same for Malkin a year earlier.

    The day the Whalers died.

***** you Ed Johnston, worst GM in the history of American pro sports.

On the latest "After the Whistle," Rivet and Peters discuss Sabres coaching and management. They powerfully discuss how Ellis didn't get any credit for last year's top power play and the absolute disgrace of Sabres management passing over the assistants to coach the team in favor of Appert. I think this is by far the best Sabres podcast. They're rude, they're crude and they're good.
