They played even better, yet they lost even worse
Hutton was bad. Refs were pitiful yet again-- pretty much stole the game on their own.
Sabres all of a sudden tried to make plays to the net. Just didn't get bounces their way. Vesey looked great. Mittelstadt looked good on wing. We need a 3C in a trade. Dahlin mistakes cost us the game when our players can't score anything.
Skinner is also useless on that third line. Swap him with Oloffson now please.
go back to hfboards with your whining
Nah, I'm good thanks ?

This sums up my thoughts perfectly:

What is wrong with this entire organization in a nutshell: a year after making the single worst most destructive trade in hockey history (a trade so bad it literally killed my Whalers) Ed Johnson was fired by Rich Gordon because even though he was among the worst NHL owners of all time even he knew Ed had to go. Botts makes among the most disastrous trades of all time that crushes his team and a year later faces no consequences whatsoever for his complete and total failure. And if we have yet another disaster I would not be shocked in the least if nobody is held accountable.

Well aside Vesey what should he have done?
For starters: not acquire a player as terrible as Jimmy Vesey.

Small real bad play that won't be noticed: Dahlin had the puck at the line and the Tampa player pressuring him was in our zone. Instead of doing everything he could to get the puck over the line and kill any danger he curls back and tries to keep possession.

I have absolutely NO idea how they were able to score that goal with two guys standing completely unmolested right in front of our goalie who we totally hung out to dry. Same Old you-know-what.

Deserved or not, it's the story of Buffalo-Tampa since the tank - surprisingly effective ES hockey for our guys against theirs, that doesn't matter because special teams gets won in a big way by Tampa, usually by Buffalo penalties that draw a lot more skepticism than is typical from fans.
Here's the thing with Tampa: Their entire gameplan relies on throwing picks in both zones, and it's never called. I was in the 300's when we played them last season and everyone around me was laughing about how ridiculously obvious it was. They would have a guy try and get the puck out of their zone and one of their guys would throw a blatant pick on our forechecker.

The more I see that play by Kucherov on Sobotka the more pissed I get. What a scumbag
The ref was staring right at it too and had the nerve to tell Ralph he didn't see itI honestly don't know what was more ridiculous: that the dirtbag wasn't given a major and sent off or that he wasn't at least hit with an interference call because at the time he delivered the hit the puck was somewhere in Malmo.

I had them in the 79-84 point range and adjusting for opponent I think they've played more or less to that level, at least in terms of how often they carry the play against which teams
If you are spot on with that projection then at 81 points there was a 5 point improvement from last year. By last year's standings that would be the 8th worst record in the league. If that happens certain people in this organization are going to have a LOT to answer for.

Hank has a point. It was a widely-enough believed rumor that it would have shaken me (were I in Hasek's skates) even if it just were a rumor. And I'm not sure it was just a rumor.
Even though at this point if it were true Hasek would very likely have done what Eric Wynalda did a few years back and verify that DC Scum Captain 4 Life John Harkes had an affair with his wife before WC 98 (Which led to Harkes being dropped from the squad) he has repeatedly said there is no truth to it whatsoever.

Tip for our PP: Instead of being a bunch of statues standing in place watching Jack skate with the puck try moving around so as to draw the opposition out of position and create scoring chances.

First time in what seems like ages that whatever is needing fixing is not the coaching. That's been fixed I believe.
I certainly believe it's far better than it was but two things I've noticed so far disturb me:
1) The line changes have been a real issue. In addition to multiple too many men penalties it feels as if we constantly execute a line change when it either kills off a rush the other way or leaves us in a position to get toasted the other way. Haven't got burned bad by this yet but if it continues it's only a matter of time.
2) It is painfully obvious that teams have figured out that when they hit us with an aggressive forecheck we look like chickens with our heads cut off. From what I've seen there has been no attempt to try and make a tactical adjustment to counter this. We all know there is a system in place, but if something isn't working you have to fix the problem.

I'm hearing conflicting reports the arena store is sold out Adidas 50th jerseys. I know a couple local stores have them and quantities online are slim at NHL shop, cool hockey and ice jerseys. Anyone go to the game last night and can clarify?
I can confirm this is correct. Adidas distributed a set amount to the team store and will not be producing any more. The poor quality Fanatics replicas are still available (and I would like to say Fanatics taking over NHL merchandising has been horrible as the quality has plummeted while the prices have soared). Shame as that was going to be my birthday gift, maybe hit up Cozens junior team and get one of their jerseys instead.

If you are a wrestling fan this is the injury (suffered after he delivered essentially a shoot headbutt in a match that was incredibly stupid and dangerous) NJPW's Katsua Shibata suffered that essentially ended his career (although it looks like he may be able to have another match but he will never be able to work full time again).
