  1. Another rules thing: there was a situation in the OT where Stevens closed his hands on the puck in the crease and it was just a penalty. I have always thought doing that was a penalty shot, not a penalty (The most notable example being game 5 of Isles-Panthers in 2016 where in OT an Isles player got called for it and a penalty shot was awarded but Greiss (Who along with *Redacted* were the reason the Isles won the series) saved it). Was the rule changed since 1994?

Tage Thompson has been absolutely lost and horrendous in every NHL minute he's ever played. Never mind top line minutes, I'll believe he's ready for NHL minutes when he shows it for the first time in his career

    10% isn't super low

    Thank you

i get so puzzled reading about how fast this guy is (and how great his hands are)

theyre both mediocre at this level

Watching Leon put up 5 points tonight for Edmonton... what could of been.

You do realize that if we had taken him our piss poor organization would've bungled his development so bad that instead of being the Hart frontrunner he'd probably be headed back to Europe as an NHL bust right???

I got bad news for you when it comes to drafting forwards outside of the 1st round.

When you get the chance to draft a defenseman with no offensive ability whatsoever whose a non entity on a mediocre college team over one of the best goal scorers in all of junior hockey who is carrying a team that should've finished dead last into the playoffs YOU DO IT.

I think he has until Thanksgiving assuming he signs a 2C and continues to improve the middle of the roster after July 1st.  If they are struggling before the holidays: he's gone.  If they are competitive but don't make the playoffs next year: he's gone.

There are literally no decent #2 centers who will even be on the UFA market this summer. In fact this might be the worst UFA crop of the post lockout era.

Remember when we spent years crying: we need a too4 defenseman but nobody ever trades one!  Risto is playing too many minutes he needs to be a second pairing guy!

Now we have arguably 4-5 top 4 guys. McCabe is a solid third pairing now. Montour is forced playing offhand because of the depth. And we have Pilut, Borgen, two first rounders and some other wild cards like Laaksonen in the system. When we lose a defenseman in the expansion draft (and we will), we already have a replacement in order.  I believe Ristolainen is gone before next season, and we won’t miss a beat paying that UFA contract he will want.

It’s very true. And Joki and Dahlin are still kids and the sky is the limit for both of them still.

Have tour gripes and pretend Rome can be built in 2 years all you want, but our defensive depth is now SOLID. Great way to build from the back out, the way it always should have been.

Oh you want to do a building analogy? Here's one: The Islanders will have submitted a plan for an arena, have it approved, begun construction and will open it (October 2021) before Botts puts together a team capable of playing meaningful games in March much less make the playoffs.

The STH’s aren’t going to (to any large degree) drop their plans. Fantasy land to think they will. Good grief....

I bet 10-15% do, and those 10-15% will quickly and gladly get snatched up by new STHers.

The fantasy land is the idea that there are thousands of people waiting to buy ST's for this team. Unless you are blind you can see the thousands of empty seats at most games.

Two cup contenders playing in a manner conducive to maximizing their seeding and getting prepared for long runs. The Sabres gave everything they had, and played 4.5 of their strongest periods of the year to match. These games were a good barometer of the gap between us and where we want to be

Maybe next time put that type of effort in against the dogshit teams we threw away all those points against and maybe our season wouldn't be over before the end of February.

    4. He’s not the only one who ever thought this.

    5. He’s the only with the balls to actually say.

    6. There’s no such thing as a safe space.

    7. I’m completely messing with you.
