  1. Anyone still a “Housley isn’t the main problem” fan?
  2. 1. How do you know he doesn’t? 2. JB this season once said he talks to Terry and Kim often. 3. So Terry or Kim vents to JB. So what? 4. It would be a clown show if the owners vented to the coach. The owners shouldn’t be venting to any coach. That’s up to the GM.
  3. Sobotka is not getting bought out with one year left on the contract. Last thing we need is more dead money we can’t use. Good grief ...
  4. Um ... this game is not the “well Housley should be fired if he doesn’t win” game. about 3 months ago, it became the “wtf is he doing night in night out? He needs to go”. His in game adjustments are baffling. Most of his line construction is troubling. Who he sits on any given night is obtuse. And the inability to get the team to come out strong and a pain in the a$$ to play against every period is sophomoric . nothing has changed ... He will keep his job until the bitter end this season. There is no benefit to firing him now. But no matter how they look, win or lose.... I predict he’ll be gone before the playoffs begin.
  5. TONIGHT’S GAME SABRES at DEVILS This is the third and final meeting between the Sabres and Devils this season. Last meeting: New Jersey defeated Buffalo 4-1 in New Jersey on Feb. 17 The Sabres are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Devils; 3-4-3 on the road. This is the 157th game all-time between Buffalo and New Jersey; Buffalo has a 76-54-26 series record. The Sabres are 35-27-15 on the road against the Devils all-time. THIS DATE IN SABRES HISTORY The Sabres are 8-8-3 all-time on March 25. March 25, 1992: Donald Audette scores twice in 14 seconds as the Sabres improve to 30-16-2 against the Maple Leafs at Buffalo Memorial Auditorium. The team would finish with a 32-16-3 record against Toronto at the Aud. THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW With a win tonight, the Sabres would clinch their first season-series win over the Devils (2-1-0) since Buffalo went 2-0-1 against New Jersey in 2013-14. Jack Eichel has totaled five points (3+2) in four career visits to New Jersey. Jeff Skinner has recorded six points (4+2) in his last seven meetings with New Jersey, including three points (1+2) in his last three. Brandon Montour has recorded three points (2+1) in his last three games against the Devils. Rasmus Ristolainen has totaled four points (1+3) in his last five games against New Jersey. Conor Sheary has recorded a point in six of his last eight games against the Devils (2+4). Zach Bogosian has tallied an assist in both of Buffalo’s previous matchups with New Jersey this season. Alexander Nylander (2+2) and Rasmus Dahlin (0+3) each enter tonight’s game on three-game point streaks.
  6. Loading the Sabres team with multiple rookies is a great idea. What could possibly go wrong? haha Fans tend to forget these kids are playing against AHL talent not NHL. Asplund definitely needs another full season in Roch. He can come up when injuries hit and play a handful of games. He needs more development for sure. Olofsson i’d take the risk (if he looks amazing in camp) and give him some preseason and a handful of regular season games to see how he responds. If he looks lost or below average, send him back to Roch with the idea of calling him up often for injuries. It will be interesting to see if JB starts Tage in Roch next season or not.
  7. The playoff TV schedule probably won’t be released until a few days before it begins.
  8. Dude flat out sucks. Are NHL teams clamoring for the great coaching prowess and intellect that is Ted “no system, just try hard” Nolan. Where’s he coaching now? Even Poland didn’t want him back Bahahahahaha.
  9. President of hockey ops. Sabres lack one. It MAY help this franchise.
  10. Meh ... throw him a bone for a few games. Then get him back to Roch. and help the Amerks win in the playoffs. Nice paycheck for a few games.
  11. Yes. If I knew about the industry, company, sport, product very very well. If I knew about fracking and the oil industry very well. But when It came to hockey I was only a fan and not very (sports) business saavy, I would hire people who really really know the sports business well. I would solely rely on their expertise, wisdom, and experience to run my business well. And if they didn’t, I would replace them with people who do/can. I wouldn’t tell a doctor what instrument to operate with just because I own a medical facility. I would rely on the doctors knowledge to successfully complete operations. I wouldn’t tell my GM who to hire if I didn’t know what it takes to be a successful head coach. Just my opinion on the Pegulas getting involved in hiring coaches.
  12. That’s just not how all companies or in this case, sports franchises work. Some? Sure. Never said a generalizing word like none (or all) to begin with. Agree to disagree...
  13. I think (in part) it’s also a case of the owner(s) making coach hiring decisions instead of leaving it entirely up to GM’s. I love the Pegulas, but they need to stay the F away from coach hiring decisions. They are too involved on that aspect.
  14. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying playoff hockey, no matter what team it is. But for me, that’s where any “fandom” ends. Blue and gold or GTFO ?
  15. All things that can be fixed in a short time.... with better coaching.
