  1. Rossi definitely took a Briere/Drury matchup role on that team, which is to say, was the focus of the opposition to stop. Meanwhile, Quinn definitely found himself in the Vanek-Roy-Afinogenov sweet-spot of good matchups. I think that at least partially explains why 67ers fans probably loved Quinn over Rossi some nights.
  2. I was hearing a 1 year deal from a 'source 🤢' on 10/9, who also said we weren't even talking to Hall, aka, garbage source. We're in the territory of 'I have no idea what Adams will do, and I trust zero "insiders" right now, because they've locked down that ship tight'. Hoping for a 5-6 year deal, expecting a 2-3.
  3. I gotta say, I read a lot about him after we picked, and there was a lot of Ottawa 67ers fans who'd routinely say Quinn outplayed Rossi on nights. I think Quinn has more going for him than I gave credit for. I still think Rossi is going to be a star, and we'll regret passing on him. Rooting for Quinn though, just like I genuinely rooted for Nylander after hating that pick.
  4. So far. Staal trade: A Draft day-1: C Draft day-2: A (it's all the Peterka trade-up / pick) UFA Day-1 + Girgensons deal: F Hall signing: A+++ RFA's SO FAR: A (Reinhart, Olofsson, and Ullmark are very important contracts, and could swing this to an F easily)
  5. PHI sounds promising. Ristolainen/Montour for something? They have decent return options.
  6. Day -1 of FA, I was ok with this deal. Now that I've seen the market, this deal was absolutely terrible. If Larsson get's 1.4 on the open market, Girgensons wasn't seeing more than 1.5. We needed defensive forwards, so I'm glad they remembered that. This was an overpay though, for a decent 4th liner. Keeping Larsson at 1.4 over Girgensons at 2.2 would have me beyond excited about this team.
  7. Not this year, unless something disastrous happens, or he dominates the AHL. I imagine he's a backup to Johansson right now, who has an AHL all-star last year. I like 6K, but he's got a ways to go. Hasn't established himself in the AHL yet.
  8. Maybe this needs it's own thread, but now with the Hall news (showing the organization does indeed have a pulse): I'd love to get Lawrence Pilut back
  9. If Lias Andersson for the 60th pick is any indication, Mittelstadt's value probably isn't great. Granted, Mittelstadt will definitely have more value than Lias, for a couple of reasons, but probably not enough to get something of note in a trade. The best thing we can do for Mittelstadt this year what exactly what they did with Thompson to start last year. Rochester immediately, you'll be back when you've earned it. In the meantime, you'll get the best minutes we have in Rochester. Don't waste them.
  10. That's the key. He hasn't been able to play at NHL speed. His athleticism was bad, and hasn't improved enough. All he's got going for him is his draft status, and puck handling skills, and the latter isn't enough to guarantee a NHL trajectory. This is a year where if Mittelstadt doesn't take it very seriously, he'll be a NHL journeyman at best, and completely out of the league at worst.
  11. Cozens is, and it isn't close. His D+1 (hell, D+0) vs Mitts' aren't close. Mittelstadt was significantly hurt by a dipshit GM making a horrible trade, then throwing the kid into the fire to fix it, but that doesn't change the fact that Mittelstadt pre-NHL vs. Cozens pre-NHL are at 2 different talent levels. Agreed that Cozens shouldn't be guaranteed a spot, and neither should any prospect that isn't elite (Eichel and Dahlin are the exceptions in Buffalo's case).
  12. Oh yeah, I'm consistent on that. If Cozens looks like Mittelstadt circa 2018/2019 camps, you send him back to the WHL, and probably roll: Skinner-Staal-Thompson Ruotsalainen-Eakin-Reinhart I have a lot more faith in Cozens in y1 though, specifically because he'll have the support cast Mittelstadt never did, and because he's a better prospect than Mitts.
  13. I'd MUCH rather start our promising rookie on the wing with 2 veteran all stars, than Cody Eakin. Think of Skinner-Staal-Cozens and Thompson-Eakin-Reinhart as two middle six lines, not a 2nd/3rd line. This setup is significantly better balanced, and puts guys in a better position to succeed than arbitrarily putting Cozens on a '3rd line' just because 'he should be there'. Rubbish.
  14. Also like: Hall Eichel Olofsson Skinner Staal Cozens Thompson Eakin Reinhart Girgensons Lazar Okposo
  15. Fully understand why people wouldn't like the following idea: Analytics would not be a fan of this at all, but because of Krueger, I wonder if they look at Chara for that 3 LD hole. Respected leader, will stand up for guys, Dahlin mentor, Jack will love Boston captain he watched lift the cup. There's not great analytical reasons for it, but there are great emotional-team reasons.
  16. I go Skinner Eichel Olofsson Hall Staal Reinhart more balance, doesn't lose offensive potency and Eichel/Olof really clicked last year. 2000s night vs. CBJ, I was there, and Olofsson had just come back from injury. Eichel/Olof instantly connected and basically won that game just the two of them. Put a Taylor Hall who can pass with them, and holy moly. Meanwhile, Reinhart is the experience two-way youth anchoring 2 former all-stars. They'll be just fine. The bottom 6....is scary (bad).
  17. Hall Eichel Olofsson is going to be ***** sick. Skinner Staal Reinhart is a line that doesn't contain Sobotka, and has a real center. It's already 2000% better.
  18. Right back to the drawing board. Hall Eichel Olofsson //elite Skinner Staal Reinhart //beautiful Cozens Eakin Thompson /I'm a little scared here Girgensons Lazar Okposo //ehhh...I'll live. I'd still like a 3C, but Eakin makes me think that won't be a thing. The defense needs a trade. Montour or Risto. Pick one, and punt. Hutton + for a better goalie. End this ***** playoff drought.
  19. This is Dahlin's last ELC year. Time to swap Hutton for someone with a pulse, and shore up the D (TRADE RISTO OR MONTOUR GOD DAMMIT).
  20. I'm actually not even referring to the cap. I'm talking about a Risto/Montour trade to improve the team further 🙂
  21. I kind of wish it was 2 years, and I'll definitely take Hall. There has to be a trade somewhere....
  22. They’re 100% one of the teams trying to woo Pietrangelo, but I doubt they get it done. Same story with Toffoli, and they lost on Fast. For the 600th year in a row, they needed to trade the right guys to make something happen (Risto), and so far, I’m expecting us to get sold that Cody Eakin and his finals experience is what this teams been missing.
  23. Olofsson Eichel Reinhart Skinner Staal Cozens Reider Eakin Thompson Girgensons Lazar Okposo McCabe Ristolainen Dahlin Miller Montour Jokiharju Ullmark Hutton Smith Irwin thats a bottom 5 roster. Again.
