Nope. For all of Scandella’s mistakes, he can still play at an NHL level. Sobotka is sub replacement level garbage. If Scandella were put on waivers today, half the teams in the league would put in a claim... if Sobotka was put on waivers today not a single team in the league would touch him.

Id switch 2 and 3 in order... but yea, I mostly agree here. Scandella makes a lot of sense to move, but not if you want to acquire a similar value forward. A team trading for Scandella, is a team trying to make a run, and said team's usually aren't subtracting middle 6 forwards at the deadline, they are using picks / prospects only. Scandella makes more sense as an offseason trade when teams are moving pieces around. If someone offers a 2nd for Scandella... you take it.

There are good teams all around the league with guys like Casey Nelson in their 3rd pair/depth D roles... a 3rd pair that gets limited minutes, against lesser competition, can be a pairing that's successful through it's skating ability. It's why Beaulieu-Nelson was a capable 3rd pair early in the season...

Cost effective RD depth... is more valuable than an abundance of 2-4 million dollar LD depth (Scandella, Beaulieu, Hunwick)

The collection of talent on the backend is not bad... you're seeing a poorly coached team that lacks leadership. Lou Lam and Barry Trotz would've kept ROR and been on equal footing with Toronto with this roster.

Yea, if we don't trade someone before Nelson's 14 day conditioning stint expires... we could always bring him back on our roster and put Hunwick on waivers. I expect Beaulieu will be traded for a semi-useless draft pick in the next 14 days.

I'm of the opinion that Sam Reinhart has been really damn good for basically the last 100 games... he can say whatever the hell he wants... because whatever the leaders of this team are doing, it's not working.
