  1. So Botterill saves say 3 million per for those 2 years... while spending over 5 million in those same 2 years on Sheary and Hunwick cap genius
  2. I believe Botts got ALL the big calls wrong and lucked in to 3 critical things that mask what a terrible job he’s doing. big calls 1. ROR - fail on every level. I’m sure it’s been discussed ad nauseam here, but making the move under the “woe is me”/locker room narrative is awful enough, but then we get a ***** return on top of it, only for the outcome to culminate in another (potentially) wasted season and downstream impacts on development... it’s in the Chiarelli/Milbury club. 2. Reinhart bridge. Dumb. I sketched out a development profile of Reinhart as compared to Schiefele at the same post draft seasons... this season was predictable. 3. Mitts/Tage in Buffalo. They should be playing dominant 1st line minutes in Rochester together. Luck 1. Dahlin 2. Skinner NMC 3. 10 game winning streak with significantly more talent, we are basically back to where we were when Bylsma and Murray were fired... but we’ve got draft picks. Cool. Winning the draft is fun. meanwhile a real GM took lehner in, helped him get right... and now a team that LOST John Tavares is on track to the playoffs. And another veteran GM who fleeced ROR from us, has overcome a terrible start to be back within striking distance. frustrating
  3. Sorry, you don’t think Eichel’s “desire to compete” is at a higher level than the franchise that traded ROR for futures?
  4. You think Eichel has less passion for winning?
  5. Do you think Eichel is going to demand a trade on a similar timeline?
  6. I would define “stunting” as anytime you are not putting a high end young prospect in a great situation. At the end of this year, it will be hard to say we did that with Mittelstadt
  7. They could structure the conditions of the trade as such that it would become the SJ 1st JT Miller is a RW only... he is getting traded, I hope it’s not to us. Toronto would never trade Kadri in division im not actually interested in acquiring a long term center. We need a short term solution... and we need it now.
  8. Mittelstadt should’ve been in Rochester all year. Botts trade of ROR and believing Mitts was ready is a poor reflection on his abilities as a general manager. We have potentially wasted 1 of 3 Dahlin ELC years and 1 of 2 Reinhart bridge years... and stunted the growth of our blue chip prospect in the process.
  9. It does surprise me how little value is placed on winning, while such high value is placed on unknown assets that cannot reasonably be expected to make a difference for years, while the unforced errors (ROR trade) continue to have detrimental effects to the present and future of the roster. I am not advocating going full Murray (multiple high value futures for multiple young vets), I’m advocating for one very specific move, the benefits of which would impact both the young core (winning, playoffs, etc) and the kids (roster alignment, quality line mates, appropriate deployment). and it’s a hole we are going to have to fill in the offseason.... why wait? Patience doesn’t guarantee success anymore than acceleration guarantees failure. We are not going to win a cup the the Eichel/Dahlin era because we had 4 firsts in 2019-20.... thanks for the welcoming
  10. I'm most interested in an immediate rental trade, with the ideal target being Eric Staal. The priority should be making the playoffs, and getting our young core the experience they desperately need. Prioritizing coin flip draft picks who likely don't make a difference until Dahlin's ELC is over, Reinhart's bridge is over and Eichel's half way through his contract, is a huge waste of time. Staal would help mask the colossal short term error Botts made in the ROR trade. We'd get him for a playoff push, and hopefully a bit of playoff success (wins). And then ideally we'd be able to convince him to sign a 2 year extension in the offseason. From a trade rental/cost perspective we are probably looking at something like: SJ 1st + Mid round pick + Sean Malone Couple adding Staal with allowing the next wave of Rochester talent to push the under performing vets out of the lineup, and we get to a much more capable forward lineup for the stretch run: Skinner-Eichel-Reinhart Sheary/Erod-Staal-Okposo (find out if we can squeeze one last drop out of Okposo with a high end vet center) Nylander/Olofsson-Mitterstadt-Thompson Sheary/Erod-Larsson-Girgs x Sobotka, Poms
