Good interview. Polite and confident young man. Let’s not forget he is 18. No way this kid stays at 5’10” either. He is going to grow much more by 20-21.

Why are you insisting on rushing Rosen? He is still not strong enough and he will get stomped in the NHL. Comparing Rosen to Quinn: Rosen is more than a full year younger, he is 2 inches shorter, he is at least 15 pounds lighter, he does not have an NHL 2-way game - he is not ready. He needs another year in the AHL at least. Kulich will get a good look in camp and so will Rousek and Savoie. With Quinn now injured and out for awhile one of them will get a much longer look. Thinking that these Rochester players like Rosen and Kulich are going to replace Krebs and Mitts and improve the team THIS YEAR is not reality. Who did Granato go to for first line support when Tage was hurt? Answer: Mitts Who did Granato give key shut down responsibilities to as the season went on? Answer: Krebs

A Top 4 Defenseman is Adams Top Priority per Lebrun

Why is Pesce worth 2 firsts ? Is he that good or is this a Sabrespace reaction? -
Opportunity to show that they can play. That can take some time. They all need opportunities. Look at Tage and Mitts and the time and patience it took to develop them. There were times many here, and across the league, thought they weren’t much.

I like the pick. Everything says good value at 13 KA has about 6 forward blocking him. Time to make a trade soon to help areas in need today.

I cant say I know much about Pesce, I have no idea if he had a down season or not, but your take on him is different from all others I have read here. He is 28, that is prime age for a defensemen and unlike most forwards, defenseman do not drop off in their early 30's. -
Hall got an $8M salary, a NMC, and he ended up with the Bruins - a real Cup contender. He leveraged his relationship with Krueger. He and his agent cannot be blamed for smart business, but I blame Hall for the very poor effort in his time here. He knew once Krueger got fired that all he had to do was float until the trade deadline, and he did. He even had Eichel and Reinhart on the team and he did nothing. His scored just 2 goals in in 37 games and was a shameful -21.

Would Adams have paid that if he made the trade for Meier? I think not. Olofsson for Graves. Straight up hockey trade. Get'er done Kevyn. Edit: Yes Graves will be a FA. Just getting loopy waiting for a trade or two that improves this team.

I am only going by his numbers. He helped the Caps win a Cup. He was there for all 21 playoff games and he scored 5 goals with 10 assists and only 31 PIM (he had a whooping 187 minutes in the regular season). So he toned down the penalties in the playoffs. He has scored 20+ goals 3 times since that season. People don't like him because he is a pain to play against. Sure, he does some stupid stuff, but he can also play.

And for 3/4 of the season maybe Dahlin and Cozens won't have to take on the bullies of the Eastern conference on the routine basis? Lets not complain about a team with no grit and no response. Last year we saw Dahlin, Cozens, and Tage all fighting (gloves off) and I really did not like it. Payton Krebs was our scrappiest player. Greenway was reluctant to engage even though he is big. Wilson is never reluctant. There is more to Wilson's game than fighting. He can score goals too. I get that fighting is not part of the game, until it is.

I thought Musk was going to fix Twitter ???

Sabres fans are used to overpaying maybe? I like seeing Duclair leave the conference. He always plays well against us it seems. Florida gets better with Hanifin though.
-
That is if the refs actually call penalties. This is the NHL you are talking about. I do not get the negativity towards Wilson. I am probably in the minority here, but a player like Wilson could help the Sabres. A policeman type player at 6'4" 220 pounds, a power forward that has scored 20 goals three times already, and a guy that has hoisted the Cup. On the other hand, we have a lot of forwards and we just re-signed KO and ZG. Is Greenway going to be this for Buffalo?

They will then start lobbying for Marcus Foligno.

Not kidding Mr 11. In the US, this past SC was one of the least viewed in years. The average was close to 10,000,000 less viewers per game than the NBA championship series. Compare the NHL TV ratings to the championship series in the NBA, or the MLB World Series, or the NFL playoffs - the SC playoffs is not even close. Lots of hockey fans in the US switch to other sports once their NHL team is eliminated. This has long been a trend. MLB is a big factor, so is the competition from the NBA, and so is golf. We are all diehard hockey nuts. We even follow the NHL draft. Most fans do not.
-
In Canada you are correct. In the US you are wrong. First of all, they are early season games when almost every baseball team has some hope. Secondly, most American Hockey fans switch to baseball (or golf) once their hockey team is eliminated. If the Rangers are not in the playoffs then NY hockey fans watch the Yankees or Mets. I was in Boston for a week during the finals, the Bruins were out of it and the hotel bars and sports bars were tuned to the the Red Sox, not the Stanley Cup. I had to ask the hotel bartender to put it on and it was the finals. The Red Sox were in last place at the time. Ditto for Chicago, St Louis, LA and every other big baseball town. No question about it. Ever wonder why Buffalo has very high Stanley Cup TV ratings, higher than most markets, while their team has not sniffed a Cup since 2007-08?

Yes, Ville is another. Then there is Berglund who thankfully quit but does not shut up. Slava Kozlov is another that I do not like.

Fire sale might be a bad choice of words. We could get to a point where we have no good places for some of them to play. We would not intend to move them for peanuts but the rest of the league might be shrewd in what they offer to us. I am trying to say that we could lose leverage on a deal. It is a good problem I guess, especially when we had barren shelves left by my buddy Murray. -

If we gave up the 13OA I would not complain. I would think Adams and his staff have the roadmap of what prospects project to the big club and when, I would not be surprised if some of the sleeper prospect are higher on their list either (Rousek, Kozak, etc). Kevyn Adams is smart guy. Lets see if he can pull off a big hockey trade that really moves the needle for this team. -

Quinn is not on my trading board. So far he is the one most likely to be a core player down the road (IMO). I would give up Rosen within of that group of prospects because I think we have other prospects very similar to him. I would offer them Rosen and the Philly #2 or next years #1. I would even add in a 3rd piece if needed (another pick or a B level prospect) If they insisted on 13OA I would not agree to it right away. I would put it on hold until the draft and see what the board looked like before doing that so that my staff could weigh in on the reality of what is there. Before all of this I would have to talk to Pesce (or Graves) about his desire to be a Sabre, and obviously what the next contract would be. We would have to both be comfortable. If we hold on to every prospect we will end up selling them off in a fire sale. I do think we need to convert some of this prospect potential into players we need right now. It is time to get good support for the current real core. -
Great catch.

Hope not. I want Graves or Pesce. Either would be a good fit for us. Would like KA to surprise me and not shop in the bargain bin. -
He was terrible in Buffalo, he liked Ralph, and he quit. One of my least favorite Sabres ever.

Peter McNab - 6th round, 85 OA in 1972 954 games, 363 goals, 450 assist, and 813 Points. Unfortunately, most of this production was for the Bruins.
