  1. Ok Teammates, a serious big one tonight. Would like to see UPL play his best game ever. We need something big to happen. Muscle Weight Go Sabres !!!
  2. This one is really big. Cannot let this streak get to 3. Especially all at home. They really need the some other players to help the top players. It is time for the guys playing with Cozens to contribute, and same with the Jost line.
  3. I think they would play both equally in the AHL unless one (most think Levi) is far better than the other and they want to get him ready sooner. I don't think there and too many easier paths for Portillo than the Levi-Comrie-UPL path, but maybe there is and he knows were it is. If some team offered to him their 1 slot in the AHL he might go there.
  4. Yes, and all CF-18’s were made on the USN F/A-18 production line. “A” models were single seat, B models were two seaters.
  5. True in the later years. Paul learned to play drums along with guitar, bass, piano, keys, …
  6. Great video. If you are into this stuff then watch the documentary McCartney 3, 2, 1.
  7. Not unlike most all rock and pop drummers. You either start with a beat the drummer came up with and make a song, or most likely the drummer listens to the song demo and adds the percussion in afterward. None of the Beatles could read or write music. They started out covering songs by ithers. When they would “write” a song they had to memorize it, maybe jot down the lyrics and the chord progression with the words. Paul has said he could not write songs on paper in music notation and he still cannot. Same with John. Same with most rock/pop bands.
  8. Yes. I do. Many of his teammates that he clicked with are gone too.
  9. I just don’t like seeing US and NATO planes doing that.
  10. What are they flying? Did not know the CF-18 is retired. They bought A and B models in early 80’s. They did some avionics upgrades along the way but the plane is ready for retirement.
  11. That song doesn’t fit Winnipeg. But they do have a Royal Canadian Air Force Base there. Also, Boeing produces commercial composite parts at a facility in Winnipeg.
  12. He was actually a very good drummer in the rock/pop genre of the time. Early days he was a great live drummer and a showman, later days he was pretty creative in the studio with his beats. He had a less is more style that works in that group that had enough egos. It’s pretty common that people think he wasn’t much because he didn’t write songs but other drummers respect him.
  13. He fits in Rochester. He may good enough to beat out Bryson and Clague, but for his own good time in Rochester would serve him well.
  14. Yes. This is level we are at. Any big money goes to re-signing our own.
  15. You came out guns blazing because Comrie played, as if UPL was the next coming of Dominik Hasek. You had no facts as to why he played, even though it was explained yesterday before the game, and then again during the game - the game you say you watched, and I assume you watch it with the volume on? You are upset because Peterka and Quinn were sitting out. They have been getting about 9 sheltered minutes a night - and with just so much energy and enthusiasm the coach isn't playing them a normal shift. It was a back to back. The seats from the press box will maybe light a fire under them. Sure, I would love to see the Sabres take the body more often and do it right from the start. I think this aspect of their game is not there yet and that it needs to be if they are going to move up in the standings. But you are constantly upset because they don't hit, then they hit, and now its too late in the game for you. You are not out there. You don't know what's going on. I am not going to blame Dahlin, or anyone else, for cleanly hitting a pest like Tanev, a guy who throws late hits and after the whistle hits. Especially Tanev. And stop making excuses for the Kraken team. I am aware that the Kraken were on the road and on a back to back. Both teams were on a back to back. You think that was their B game, maybe it looked like it was their B game because we were also playing hard and we controlled the play at times? Maybe that was it? The score was 4-3. The mighty Kraken were behind for large portions of the game and they did not run away with it once they took the lead. Since New Years they have destroyed the Oilers (twice), the Islanders, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. Buffalo played them tough right to the end and apparently that bothers you.
  16. Players like Chara and Pronger, there are a few each decade. Pronger was considered somewhat of a bust until he went to St Louis. Then he physically matured and got mean. Chara was traded. There are bunches of big, slow, low skilled guys out there that are tough guy. They can stand around and push people around but they will probably give up goals and slow down our transition game too. We have Dahlin who is a playmaker first, and he is also our best defensive defenseman, and the one most likely to lose his cool and push back. He is our best player overall. Muel had about 50 NHL games in before this season. He is doing great s far. It would be good to see him use his size and strength more when things get rough. He probably will. Power is a rookie. He just turned 20 in November, so still a boy playing with men. He is a big skill first player with huge upside. We just have to see if and when he decides to get nasty. His frame can carry a lot more muscle. When you were 19, how many 24 to 32 year old athletes did you want to fight? Be honest. Yes, we still need a physical pest or two. One may be there and just not ready yet.
  17. They had 22 shots but 15 were scored as high danger chances for the Kraken. The Sabres, with all their shots and all their firepower, had 12 high danger chances. The Kraken were allowed to play in the slot, near the crease, and in places where the dirty goals are. Just like the Flyers did the night before when UPL gave up 4 to a weak offensive team. Comrie's first game back was not great, but not bad either. I see nothing with him that makes me think we found a #1, he will probably be the backup next season. Sure, we could have used a few big saves, but he is not the reason they lost. The Sabres win and lose as a team. They are a team that is not very steady in their own zone.
  18. No one. Samuelsson is not very physical so far, and neither is Power as of yet. That doesn't mean that won't change. It took Dahlin a few years of getting pushed around for him to push back. When they finally add another defenseman they better add a veteran with both a mobile and a physical aspect to his game. I am looking for a significant upgrade, someone that can play with Power and help him get better. I do not expect to find such a player right now during the season. Why would a team part with a player like that unless they were rebuilding? If they are rebuilding they are going to ask for a lot. Get this match for Power, then we can play Joker and Luby on the 3rd pair. Joker has good skills and Lubey has grit, that would be a decent 3rd pair. Joker played pretty good last night for his first game back. DG played in the very first shift, basically saying this is big game, get the rust off fast.
  19. You complain about the team being "non physical", then you complain about which player is actually playing physical. I don't disagree with the notion that the team make up is not that of a physical hard hitting team. You said, and I quote, "You don't want your best defenseman running around and trying to lay people out". What about Pronger, and Chara. and Stevens - should they have been told not to check? They were their teams best defenseman after all. Which players on the Sabres are allowed to check? Provide a list and maybe Donnie can put a little piece of tape on their helmet so he can remember which players to put in the game when we decide it is ok to check someone. Thank you voice of reason. And who the heck knows what stuff Tanev was pulling out there. He is a pest.
  20. You need to get the facts. UPL - It was his start. He was sick. The exciting energetic line has not been scoring or contributing. Quinn and Peterka were becoming overwhelmed and a defensive liability, they were sitting most of the 3rd periods, even in the win streak. Cozens points are coming from the PP and from playing extra shifts with other wingers. What was wrong with changing a few rookie players with players with more experience? Especially after the terrible Philly game. You complain about no hitting, then Dahlin levels a tough guy, and you complain about that. Tanev is an instigator and he got leveled cleanly. Did you see his ***** with Skinner? Dahlin and Tanev went at it last game too. After all your comments and complaints about hitting, I find this one to be bizzare. Seattle did not play bad hockey or coast. They were brilliant for ten minutes in the 3rd, scored two, and then they hung in for dear life. Both teams were on back to back games, and both played hard to the very end, and both were exhausted. Seattle got some fortunate bounces and some huge saves - and the Sabres did not. Are you watching the games? Are you keeping up with roster moves? It appears you are looking for reasons to complain.
  21. For the 70’s the Sabres and islanders got good fast. That is about it. Vancouver, Atlanta, Washington, KC, Colorado, NJ, and Cleveland - they all struggled for quite awhile or they died completely.
  22. Why are you and several so worried about them being expansion team? This isn’t the 70’s. It’s an advantage to be an expansion team over a tear down and rebuild. Look at the veterans on this team, a few have SC rings. There is a salary cap, teams cannot stockpile all the best players. Vegas went to Cup final their first year.
  23. Height and weight are not a problem. They could use a few bangers. I’m not talking pugilists, I mean skill players that take the body when it’s there.
