  1. I was going to post what you have in bold almost verbatim. If we learned anything from the rebuild(s) it is that evaluating a players fit in the organizations culture is critical. I expect that Adams will account for this and will do his homework before adding a player from outside.
  2. Syracuse is probably the eastern boarder. In football, Syracuse is relatively new to even supporting the Bills but there are some Sabres fans there. Any New England state, including North Eastern NY is Bruins/Pats* country or NYC teams. Southeastern NY favors the NYC teams. I worked with a company in Binghampton for decades - Jets, Giants, Rangers all the way. The northern border does not extend very far - there are Sabres fans parts on Southern Ontario near the US boarder, but not to the west if you get anywhere close to Detroit. There will always be more Leaves fans just about anywhere in Ontario. Western Pennsylvania is Pittsburgh country, so Erie is the western boarder and the state line the Southern boarder. If anyone in western Ohio cares about hockey they probably like Pittsburgh or Columbus. Pretty small physical area. Not a big market overall.
  3. A few weeks ago we lost to Winnipeg at home and some of the folks here said we played bad, got out muscled, got pushed around, etc. The same comments were made when we played the Kraken. The reality is no one played the Kraken better than Buffalo on their road trip. It also turns out that the Sabres impressed the Winnipeg coaching staff a lot that night. Their coaches said that we outplayed Winnipeg in the prior home game, we made one big mistake and gave up a break away goal, and their goalie (Hellenbyuck) was the difference. Dan and Rayzor commented last night on how impressed the Winnipeg staff was with our game and admitted that we outplayed them. They set up an early/extra practice just for to work in their game-plan versus the Sabres. The result is that we dominated the rematch even more, and this time we came out on top of another 3-2 game, with their excellent goalie once again keeping it close. This team still has a ways to go but they look like they will be good, scary good, for a long time.
  4. Well, the Avs fans are at Stanley Cup level of expectations, our expectations for the year were to challenge for a wildcard playoff spot. There is normally a considerable difference between the top contenders/division winners and the the wild card contenders. Jost is much better than Eakin, and he fits in with the boys, and he is responding to DG and working hard to play his best hockey. That said, he will probably be replaced by one of our center prospects sometime down the road, but for now he is helping the team. Having him means our center prospects at least have to beat out a real NHL player and do not need to be rushed (like we rushed Tage and Mitts in prior regimes).
  5. So, any time we don't win by 2 or more we nearly blew it? No matter the opponent or any other circumstance.
  6. Agree. We are fine with 3 right now as long as UPL gets the majority of the work. I thought Comrie did fine, made big stops early. He is small and he leaves a lot to shoot at on top.
  7. Highlights on Sabres website. I think you can rewatch on ESPN+. What happened is we dominated and if not for Hellenbyck we score 6.
  8. Hopefully he was wearing a mouth guard, with is actually a teeth guard. It prevents upper and bottom teeth from slamming together, usually from contact to head/jaw. Yes, blows to the jaw can be concussive.
  9. Yup. Dahlin and Power with good partners and you can pretty much control the play for over 40 minutes a game.
  10. Having good players helps. We have a coach that is smart, fair, teaches, and provides players with real opportunities to reach their best They are starting to have faith in themselves and their teammates. We have a group that works hard, is serious about improving, and that plays for each other. Lots of internal leadership emerging.
  11. 3-2 doesn’t tell the story of how we dominated the play.
  12. Hmmm. No shutout. They had a chance to clear it down and didn’t.
  13. Big loss. Roughing. Looked like butt-end got him. By the way,we are doing great winning face offs and getting control.
  14. More meaningful than when we destroyed Columbus. Winnipeg is a good team.
  15. Little Bryson got cross checked in the back way after the whistle by 26.
