  1. So should he have blamed the players for missing by 1 win and do it publicly? Then end the interview?
  2. Berglund in St Louis - The players have been very tight knit there for a long time. He seemed to be ok with the players but he was not a serious player or a leader, his role was that odd guy that sometimes played with the skill fitting of his #1 draft position. Fans did not embrace him or his inconsistent game. He took nights off.
  3. It is sad but he was probably one of many that had Buffalo on the "never want to go there list". I think that list is still pretty big even today. So Adams needs to be careful who he adds. So now he openly talks about how stupid he was with regards to understanding his contract and the NTC. The Blues were genius in getting rid of this dopey guy. They dumped a bad contract and made room for their young forwards. I never thought they would win a Cup that year but everything came together: ROR's chemistry with a loaded vet team, a hot goalie, removal of deadweight (Berglund and Sobotka), and insertion of younger and tougher forwards in their place. He had about a 100 texts and no phone calls from either team. That tells you something.
  4. So you are in Eastern Pa? Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins? Maybe the Hersey Bears?
  5. Didn't you leave here because we didn't re-sign a Swedish player or something like that?
  6. who is winning the contest so far?
  7. I see this guy was hybrid TE/ big slot WR. Good chemistry with Allen and he will catch a lot of balls.
  8. So true. But you are supposed to over react and blame the GM for something.
  9. The coach shows no accountability or responsibility for himself. The players will love that. What is easier. Fire the coach or replace 15 players?
  10. I like the Bills pick. 6’4” 250. Lines up in slot and has great hands. Allen should be happy with this guy. He will be reliable like Beasley but a much bigger target. Knox will start at TE but this guy will play as 3rd WR or 2nd TE. Now go get Allen a blocker in round 2
  11. ROR just played a 2:49 minute shift and won every faceoff which allowed the Leaves to score and control the puck. He will play after the time out. Tampa wins but man that ROR shows up.
  12. Leaves win a face off ( they are important) and score. 3-2 game on
  13. Trono pulls goalie with 4:30 left down 3-1. Panger is not liking it but @Eleven is pulling out the analytics.
  14. That Bisonette guy on ESPN is really bad at analysis. He keeps saying “ that’s a joke” when describing the Leaves play. He sounds like a fan, not a TV analyst. He sounds like a fan that just drank an 8 pack of Genny Cream Ale during last period. They were about $1.79 back in 1975.
  15. Funny this topic came up. I looked up Skinners stats a few days ago. I don’t think will get to 500 so the HoF never crossed my crusty mind. Now, If the Sabres win a Cup or two, and he is a big part of it, and he gets close to 450 then what a career! He does have potential to be in the rafters in Buffalo as a minimum.
  16. Linus with a big turnover in OT. Game over, Tkachuk scores - salt in the wound Bahston.
  17. Boston has a way of playing that doesn’t ever change much from coach to coach. How much of their success attributable to expectations and culture? Talent wise, are they as good as their record?
  18. Yes. Loved it . The darn inserts were extra work and weight. We literally ran a business. Pick up papers, deliver, collect, pay paper bill, keep profits. I put my wagon at the half way point and used bags to loop around one half and then work back to the wagon. Then reload for the second half and loop back to the wagon. Then go home and eat dinner like it was my last meal. Collecting could be frustrating with people stringing you out. Remember the free calendars that you gave out at Christmas? I got some really nice tips because of those calendars. I learned to never passed out calendars on a normal collection day. Do it separately and you get more tips.
  19. If we want to get better then need to improve upon Bryson and Clague. If we want to get better we need to leverage the overabundance of wealth at forward and replace it help on defense and goalie. VO is the likely guy to go.
  20. Could be. Or he could be softening his comments because he realizes he was trashing a then 19 year old kid. I doubt Patrik has that level of EQ. He has always been a head case.
  21. Was Tage arrogant or confident? It is often a fine line. No one makes the NHL without a good dose of it. Berglund sounded like a raving lunatic. That was not praise either. He is taking another point of view.
  22. @Randall Flagg and others, Look at Tage's early career. Started in 2017-18, at 20 years old, on a tough veteran Blues lineup that he could not crack at that age. He played 47 games with a very limited role and sheltered, splitting time in the AHL. From all accounts the Blues were very high on him, and they also had Thomas and Kyrou in the system. Next season (18-19) he played 65 games for Buffalo. Nothing about his game indicated he should be playing 3rd line in the NHL yet. The Sabre played him to justify the ROR trade, he should have been in the AHL. He went down later in the season and he looked good there. He was looking really good in the next offseason (19-20). Reports were out that he got a lot stronger and worked hard on his shot. His reputation as a hard worker started in that off season. He unfortunately played one game and was hurt and done for the season, when he game back from injury he played in Rochester again. The next season (19-20) was the Covid season combined with playing for Ralph in his abysmal hockey/soccer system. He looked good late in the season, once Granato took over - you could see it happening for him. Summing this up as 18 goals in 145 games is true, but not the whole story. He took awhile to develop but look at the chaotic way that Buffalo handled him, the injury, Covid, and 3 head coaches between 2018 and 2020. Every player develops at a different pace and some have a few bumps along the way while others are fortunate to be drafted into a better situation, stay healthy, and are handled better. Thankfully for Buffalo, Tage fits the hard working and determined prototype, and he had a connection with Granato. Otherwise he would be scoring 45+ goals for another team right now.
