NHL trade & FA rumors (Sabres & Non-Sabres)
Pimlach replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Are you saying the Sabres are making moves so that they don't get too good? They already had Quinn and Mitts, Adams job is to make the roster better. To my thinking we just cannot fully evaluate the Mitts trade until we see, (1) who they replace Mitts with; and (2) how Byram plays over a full season. Is Byram a top 4 or top 2 guy and why did Colorado think otherwise? Does Byram really bring what we need given we have Dahlin and Power? I wanted a top 4 guy that moves people out of the space in front of UPL. I still do and I saw a ton of that in the Cup final. As for Adams not ever talking to Mitts agent about an extension, that speak volumes. -

Jeff Skinner rumors, trade and buyout speculation swirling

Here we sit, all of us are skeptical on how they will use the savings. We are so far from the days of "drill another well" and "hockey heaven". This could the most important off season for the franchise since the Pegula Era started. -
Jeff Skinner rumors, trade and buyout speculation swirling

They have to replace his goals, and that does not mean expect more goals from Peterka, Benson and Quinn. We already expect more from all of them, they were 23rd in scoring as a team with Skinner, not nearly good enough. -

And play at a minus 10 clip. -
A team can put up to 52 names on the Cup for winning it. There are guidelines for this. I believe that Florida’s GM intends on putting Rick Dudley on from his administrative entries. He was allowed on the ice to hold the Cup.

That explains Draisaitl, ribs are essential McDavids numbers are even more impressive given the injury. Yes, warriors. They play with much pain at times. -
Will Lindy allow players to have their own goal songs?

I go with the flow at a hockey game. However they present it. -

Good thing Sabrespace is worried about goal songs for him. -
If Byram is a more value-added player than Mitts he will be a good add. Mitts is just coming into his prime and is going to do well for the Avs.

... when not talking about prospect pools and imaginary trades? -
Rico, you forgot about the gapping hole at center. We need one right now and that is on Adams to bring in the right guy. Unless of course one of Krebs/Savioe/Kulich/Rosen/Östlund is ready to jump into the 3C role, then the problem is solved. Otherwise we are probably spending some of these coveted assets to get Lindy a center (or two) right now.

One would think he would have taken a similar deal in Buffalo, given he “wanted to be here”. But maybe not? Apparently Adams never talked to them. Let’s see which center Adams brings in (and the contract) before we flame away.

Will Lindy allow players to have their own goal songs?
Pimlach replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
Lindy himself just said in a recent interview that he is a different coach now, and that the players are different now, and you have to relate to them and get to know them. I still expect he will erupt at the refs, and occasionally the press, and even a few players that don't listen, but he is not going to take the program back to the 80's. -

They had good teams with Turgeon but they never won a playoff series in his time in Buffalo. He was traded for LaFontaine, a player with both high skills, leadership, and grit. I saw Turgeon in St Louis when he was making his post HoF induction rounds. He played 5 seasons there and they gave him a nice tribute but he is kind of a man without a team. Sabres’ Refusal to “Salute” Fans Confirmed

I would not rejoice for Kane. I like Kyle much more, I can see a decent person there. I do not care for Kane and I wish we never traded for him or Bogo. -
Sabres’ Refusal to “Salute” Fans Confirmed

We don't know the full story on this, other than the boycott really happened. The interview with Kyle made me think that he supported the boycott, I was expecting to hear "booing and firing coaches are part of the game and the young players have to understand it", but he didn't say that. But what was worse was the interview with the coach. Granato actually put out there comments that the players feelings are hurt, and some of them signed long term deals to be here. That was the interview that led me to believe that Granato was a big problem and stunting the teams growth. Whatever really happened, it was handled wrong, and you can include Adams in there too. Time to move forward. Ruff is a different kind of coach and leader. -
Sabres’ Refusal to “Salute” Fans Confirmed

Just about every year a player finally gets a Cup. There are always vets dealt at the deadline from poor teams to strong teams, and always hope that it could happen for them. Edmonton had a similar older guy in Henrique, but no one talks about the losing teams very much. Kyle is the guy this year, and he got it in part because Florida wanted him. He had a coach that knew when to play him and when to let him talk to the team, even if he was a new player with very little skin in the game. To me that says something about him that we fans don't see. PS - Paul Maurice really proved he can go beyond X's and O's, and motivate and really understand his team and how to get the most from them. -
Will Lindy allow players to have their own goal songs?
Pimlach replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I prefer no individual songs, just a team song. But it sounds like Lindy has picked up the vibes of the modern Gen Z players so if it is even up to him, which I am not sure it is, then he will allow it. -
2024 Stanley Cup Final - Edmonton vs Florida
Pimlach replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
Well, this should sum up the MVP argument. 16 of 17 first place votes for McDavid means lots of people saw the same thing. McDavid is special, even if he didn't score in the last 2 games, he was a force the entire playoff. I can understand the argument for picking a player on the winning team since it is extremely rare to see this result, but every season is different. Reflecting back on it and listening to their coach talk about it, Florida must really have some great internal leadership that extends beyond who wears the C and the A's. -
2024 Stanley Cup Final - Edmonton vs Florida
Pimlach replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
Say what? The entire Oilers team was completely gassed for the last two minutes of the game. Knoblach probably overplayed his top players in the 3rd period, they pulled their goalie too late, and they had nothing left for a final push. Florida had a fresh Evan Rodrigues out there for the last minute and he dogged the puck excellently. Talk about a guy that plays smart hockey and knows his role on a team. Rodrigues came up big in many ways, 7 goals and 14 points, and he was out there to finish the game in a defensive role. But I must say that Knoblach overall did a fine job, he just asked a bit too much of his top players in the 3rd. Great game. I did not expect the Oilers to have so much grit and compete. -
