Raise your hand if you would have said 3 years ago that Jeff Skinner would be used at the end of the game to protect a lead.
Oh, put them down, you liars.
Or three hours ago and you replaced Skinner with Clifton.

Touché. It was actually reverse jinx logic for the hockey gods. And it worked. This game also answered my question about what would it take for UPL to claim back the net. A performance like that.

Sam Rosen “Rangers winning most of the face offs tonight”. Shocking, said no Sabre fan, ever.

The Sabres have followed up 8 of their 11 losses this season with a win
edit: 8-3 following a loss, better way to write it
Here are your 8 in sequential
TB - with Jonas
Islanders - below average tea, not Sorokin
Senators - Nice offensive outbreak but almost gave up a 4 goal lead in the last 2 minutes
Avs - Solid win (Avs long road trip with B2B)
Maple Leafs in Toronto - good road win
Wild - Poor team with back up netminder
Black Hawks - nuff said
Penguins - Nice comeback but played only one good period.
Rangers are -235 at home on the money line. Give up the 1.5 goals and take the Blue shirts +107

Listening to WGR and pregame, which will feature Paul Hamilton. I thought Audacy fired him. What was the background on his return?

Yea... he's mark richt. He's never winning a superbowl as a hc.
Probably not. I agree with your overall sentiment/assessment, he must go. His time in Buffalo is eerily similar to Tony Dungy in Tampa who developed a team that was 7-9 under Wyche in ‘95 and built them up to 11-5 in ‘99 but showed regression in 2001. A new voice in the room lifted them to Super Bowl champions one year later after going 9-7 the year prior (Dungys last). Tony eventually wins one, but the circumstances are different in Indy. What is the stat about QB/Coach combinations? If they don’t win one by their 4th year together, they never will. The air is stale. Josh is the only “beast” in Buffalo sports, and his window isn’t even close to closing. They need to do something different at Head Coach. My only concern is the dynamic of GM/HC in the org. These two are super tight.

Rosen and Kulich play all season together on the same line but Donny splits them up, because…the risk of two rookies on one line trumps the chemistry these two have built all season? Meatballs should be working at @Wyldnwoody44 birthday bash. He’s a next level mixologist. Consistency Don!!!

Started with an old fashioned, bulliet with a maple simple syrup I made and orange twist with some bitters
Then a floral drink with empress gin, st Germain, creme de Violette and lemon with soda water.
Next a Reyka vodka with some dragonfruit rum, homeade cherry sauce and seltzer.
Now I have some Green spot over an ice sphere.
Who knows what's next
I've been out of the drinking game for over 20 years, but are these real drinks? How about a "Screaming Viking"? And don't forget to bruise the cucumber. (Cheers fans??)

Victor Olofsson is heating up and it’s because he’s seemed to improve his overall game lately. It’s translated into two goals and four assists for six points in five games.
Peyton Krebs only has one point all season, but he was easily Buffalo’s best player on Friday. He was flying and he along with Kyle Okposo and Zemgus Girgensons were hard on pucks, creating offense and spending most of their night in the offensive zone.
Jordan Greenway missed the game due to injury and Girgensons left the game with an injury and never returned.
Goaltending has been a huge issue for Lindy Ruff’s crew this year. Vitek Vanecek will likely be between the pipes. He’s 7-5-0 with a 3.43 goals against and .886 save percentage. New Jersey is 29th in the league in goals against.
One thing the Sabres don’t want to do is take penalties because the Devils have the top power play in the league at 36.5%.
Krebs wasn’t even the best player on his line. Kyle had a good game (finally) followed by Gus and then Peyton. As evidenced by his time with players other than Z and KO (Natural Stat Trick) below. And when you look at the replay of Kyle’s goal, Krebs stick is not even on the ice when the puck is deflected by Karlsson. Meaning he didn’t even have the awareness to get in a position to attempt a high danger chance.
Tuch was by far the best player, followed by Skinner and then EJ. Honorable mentions to UPL, Cozens and Kyle.

I think the Bills can beat the Eagles on Sunday.
Hoping the offense continues to find its groove. More worried about all the injuries on defense right now. Philly has a physical team, even on offense and at QB.
While statistically the “letdown” game is a myth, next weeks matchup against Philly is letdown personified. Super Bowl rematch, on the road, with a second half comeback win twist. Add to it a shortened week for the Eagles, and a Buffalo team that desperately needs to stack wins. To me this game is so much more important than KC. Philly can afford a loss and Buffalo cannot. A win next week followed by a bye week can give them the proper mindset going into KC. A loss just hangs over their head during the bye knowing KC is a must win.

Question for the Buffalo Expats, how often do you come back to visit?
When I was single it was twice a year, or more. In my late 30s and 40’s it was once a year at most. One of my sons has autism and travel from West to East was challenging when he was young. Plus my parents both retired early so they spent all of December and January with us so I didn’t feel I was missing anything. When I turned 50 and my Dad hit 80, it changed back to 3 times a year. The oldest with autism is now a Senior in high school and he’s mostly taking life skills classes so for the last three years we go back for 10 days during October. Sabres games in person a must, plus wanted to show him the fall foliage of western NY, which is a season we don’t have in California and he loves. Another trip in the spring, which brings more games. Then another trip in the summer where the wife and other son will come as well. My wife is from Laguna Beach so she can do summers in the 716. Not so much the winters. In the 26+ seasons I’ve been out here I’ve seen Buffalo play at least once (Anaheim, LA, PHX or San Jose) per year but it’s been great seeing them play 2-3 home games per year the last 4 (excluding Covid).

All the time. Next trip is planned for March but it could be sooner. I will probably be there for all of June and July again.
Do you own a house there? Where do you stay for 8 weeks?

Maybe I just don’t eat enough hot dogs? I’ve lived in 4 states and never bought the local hot dog and thought, “wow trash”.In regards to Wawa, that’s more a comparison to chains. In any mid/major city I’ll take a neighborhood bodega over any chain 7 days per week. But compared to Stewart’s they might as well be Wegmans.
Lived in SoCal for almost 27 years and there is NOTHING close to a Sahlen. I literally have neighbors who ask me to bring a 3 lb bag back after I visit the family. We used to serve them for parties and the parents would rave about them. Especially served with webers mustard and Teds hot sauce. But with my kids in high school and the shear volume of kids over for a party, coupled with the inflationary cost of a 3 lb bag, N.F.W. they are getting their hands on my f-ing Sahlen hot dog 🌭 .
