-Is San Jose the worst team in the modern NHL era? Possibly the worst team in major NA professional sports in the last 50 years?Ā They are 'on pace' for 20 points for the year, and that is AFTER getting their first win last night.
-Edmonton...Stanley cup or Bust this year right?Ā Some betting sites had them as a top-4 favorite to win the cup before the year started.Ā Well, 2w and 9L with the worst goal differential next to San Jose...something gotta change there right?Ā McDavid missed 2 games, but that doesn't excuse the way that team is playing.
Ā Ā San Jose is now tied with Edmonton after their win tonight. Ā Two in a row after Mike Grier rattled some cages in the dressing room. Ā McKenzie Blackwood played great. Ā Skinner, not so much, giving up 3 on 18 shots. The Sharks PK held the Oil scoreless on 4 chances. Ā Could be some broken LCDās in Edmonton tonight.

Not always, but it certainly can be. Look at guys like Messier, Chelios, Jagr - or their football equivalents like Bruce Smith, Clay Mathews, Jerry Rice - They all had significant injuries at some point in their careers (I think), but mostly they played game after game of violent pro sports at the highest level for much longer than virtually all of their peers could. And many of those peers worked every bit as hard at conditioning.Ā
They had the luck of good genetics, and probably a good measure of balance, skill, and smarts to avoid damage. That's TALENT.
That said, most guys probably have to rely on conditioning and luck.Ā
Maybe more luck and conditioning.

If RyJo is a 7D you actually want to play (led team in time played against CAR), you can rotate him through the lineup, giving the other Ds maintenance days to keep them fresher as the season goes along.Ā I figure Power and Dahlin won't be part of that rotation unless they're dinged up, but it could take the pressure off Muel to be The Man alongside Dahlin and maybe he won't get injured as much.
Iāll ask in the form of an SAT question. Ā
RyJo is to Sabrespace as Blank is to Mean Girls? The answer is Fetch. Ā Itās just not going to happen.Ā

I have the Carolina feed and they are going off on Raantas save, which really was nothing special. Krebs golfed it. Was a relatively easy save seeing it in slow motion.Ā
Raantaās save against Krebs was number 8 on ESPNās Top 10, and his save against Mitts was number three.Ā

Well itās hard to see a puck coming at you when three of your own players are screening you and one of those players deflects the puck in. All definitely UPLās fault š

Bruins win in Big D. Ā Swayman is a perfect 6-0, GAA ~1.38 with a save percentage above .950. Ā An embarrassment of riches between the pipes.Ā

Disclaimer - Not here to pi$$ in everyoneās Cheerios. Ā (Thatās somebody elseās job). Ā Happy with a win, and the effort. Ā But I need to see wins against opponents not playing their backup goaltender. Ā Five of six wins have some at the hands of a backup. Ā

Anyone know how Philly is doing tonight?Ā

UPL deserves another shot before I say itās the old him again.Ā
Ā Comrie is week to week, so what is your guess Ā on games played going forward with UPL? Ā We have 10 games including the Thanksgiving weekend before Comrie is an option. This includes two sets of back to back. Ā How many games does he see? Ā The Pens on 11/11, Chicago on 11/19 and Pens again on 24th? Ā Levi has the next two (assuming he gets both), both tough games against Toronto and Carolina. Ā Possible UPL gets Minnesota. Ā When does he get another real Ā āshotā, and not just his turn in the rotation as a back up? Ā A legit chance at taking 7 of 10 games. Ā Is it another Levi injury? Last week I was convinced KA was genius for keeping a three man rotation, tonight Iām MFāing him for not trading this summer. Ā The gummies have helped subside the pain. Ā An oft injured Comrie, inconsistent UPL and an unknown quantity in Levi. Ethos, Pathos and Logos.Ā

Just got home from that SH** Show they called a hockey game. Ā JUST AWFUL
I hope it turns around soon.....the patience with this group is wearing thin. The Boo Birds were pretty loud after each period, don't know how much was heard on the TV broadcast but it was pretty loud.Ā
Ā
They were heard, and even acknowledged by Dan. Ā Didnāt invest the time and energy like those who did go to the game, but watching, I was disappointed the same. Ā

Got to watch that game last night because it wasnāt on NESN or otherwise blacked out. My goodness do the Bruins play great defense, and that includes the forwards, in front of their goaltender. Their structure is quite good. I can see why their Dmen can be interchangeable. I bet they donāt give up many ācheapiesā. And yes, it pains me to write all that
Swayman was great too. Ā That tandem will be tough all season. Unfortunately.Ā

True. Ā The Power Play is by far the worst aspect of their game. Ā Itās shockingly bad and they give up odd man rushed against us.Ā
ĀPressure - the opponent just puts pressure on whoever has the puck. Ā The last thing they will do is stand and defend, and let us pass the puck. Ā
Punch - Did Dodo put an extra shot of espresso in your Americana this morning? Ā You are on š„!

Your Buffalo Sabres are 2-0 with 6k and Bryson in the lineup.
Not taking anything away from UPL, but 78 will be back in the press box soon enough. Ā He was entrusted with 8 minutes tonight. Ā Thatās what the coaches think of his play. Ā Clifton was playing 15:30 and will contribute as this team improves this fall. Ā
ĀThis team finally gets two wins in a row. Ā Two is a coincidence. Ā Beat the same team on home ice Friday. Ā Three is a trend.

Letās see how many games McAvoy gets. Ā Marty says 5. Ā Hopefully six, so he misses his appointment with the Sabres on 11/14.Ā
