No I disagree. It's about roster construction and how you build your team. Show me one single playoff team right now whose forwards are almost all skilled offensive guys and their D is almost all fast offensively minded puck movers. There isn't one. You can't build a team this way, you just can't.

This is an overpay but, given that Adams has no other goalie plan, it may be necessary. The one year deal like Swayman had would be a better and safer option. UPL delivers a good season under Ruff's system and he can then earn a long term deal.

The simple fact imo is UPL is big, so that allows him to get away with some positioning errors or slow reactions. He covers a lot of net so opposition players will shoot wide or just into him. Levi is relatively small, so he has to be faster and more agile. He is, but there are still gaps and openings. Neither is perfect, neither is fully formed, both could be good. I think rolling with those 2 as your only goalies is a huge gamble that might work, but could also fail miserably and cost us another season. A better plan would be to have a veteran goalie who was good on the roster and then Levi could fight to take the job rather than getting anointed.

Heart? Heart for who or what though? When I was playing hockey there was almost always a guy like Skinner. We used to call them "goal sucks". Guys who wanted the glory and tried flashy things but never did the little things and ignored the details of the game. They were all uncoachable and when they didn't score they were liabilities. I'd be back in my own end with 2 guys coming in hard on me and there'd be no support. He'd be floating around up ice waiting for an outlet pass and if it didn't get to him back on the bench he'd be prone to say "I was open man, you should have passed to me and I could have got a breakaway". That's Jeff Skinner.

What makes you think Savoie is NHL ready? I agree about too many prospects that are similar though.

The pick is just one more asset in a big pile of assets, but all that will matter is what's on the roster so trade this pick or a 2025 pick or a prospect in Rochester, whatever and whoever.

Not what I said. Dahlin is what he is. I can assess that pretty accurately. Power is not yet what he might become. So get back to me in 2 years when Power should be at the beginning of what he will actually be.

I guess you could take it that way. I was trying to avoid people reacting "trade Dahlin? You're nuts" type of thing so I phrased it as an exceptional deal. So no, only 6 I wouldn't trade (unless some team grossly overpays for them but that wouldn't happen).

Don't "want" it to be traded but fine with it being traded if it adds a roster player we need.

Not really. I put 6 guys on the "protected" list. One is a prospect, 5 of the 6 still have development upside and one bleeds blue and gold and should be captain. I put 4 guys on a list where I'd want a good deal that makes the team better. That's it for the entire franchise. I'd hardly call that protecting the roster.

Oh no I know greatness can build hatred for sure but I don't think that's how you build a real rivalry. That has to be geography and to some extent history. So we're probably not really disagreeing. Sabres are definitely insignificant to everybody right now.

Well that was anti climactic. Glad Chicago didn't win it anyway. So I'm sticking with Liam Greentree. I know many people will say he will go lower but idc. I like the kid and how he plays. If they are still there (which I doubt) I'd probably consider/take Iginla or Yakemchuk but I think they will both go top 10. If we trade the pick for a roster player, I'm fine with that too. That's it for me on the draft this year until it's done.
