Well that is certainly a creative way to look at it. I guess we should pass on Bedard then if we win the lottery.

I didn't care for the ending. Disappointing imo but I won't say any more right now in case people recorded it and/or haven't seen it quite yet.
-
Kulich looked good at first imo but became invisible later. Rosen has been a non factor last two games and is definitely not impressing me.

But they would break them up. Your left side would be Dahlin Power Samuelsson and Joker Lybushkin Subban on the right. Who would be with who idk but that's how they'd start I'd bet IF they signed Subban.

Annual expectations thread 2022/23: #19 Peyton Krebs
PerreaultForever replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Krebs is probably the guy I'm most undecided on. He has a really good attitude but he's just not quite there and I have no idea if he will ever get there. He might end up and in betweener and an AHL lifer. Just don't know, but I could see him bumped from the roster in time unless he gets better. -
Absolutely doesn't define them, but it's a valid observation. All these players are highly skilled, what I look for in these type of tournaments is the little things that define their character and personality. Do they push back or back off, do they dig deeper when it counts, do they hot dog or act more mature and so on and so on. A tournament like this can also tell you who is closer to NHL level and who will need a lot more development. Edvinsson, for example, has skills but he is no where ready for the NHL. I think he's going to need 2-3 more years at lower levels. Jirichek on the other hand, will get to the NHL faster. He's going to be a tough/mean and solid player imo.

I noticed that but the way I saw the play was he didn't drive the net with any energy and didn't fight for that puck. He could have tried harder in that situation. The Swedish team as a whole seems to lack desire, leadership and/or character as discussed above. Very little tenacity and they definitely have not gotten tough when the going gets tough as the saying goes.

This rumour is travelling around. In some ways it seems believable and might make sense.

Ya remember when everyone thought the Flyers had gotten so lucky picking 2nd in that lottery?
-
Sorry to say all Sabres prospects less than impressive in today's 2 games. That Bergmanis kid from Latvia was a dynamo though. Somebody needs to sign him.
-
Yes, I heard that too. I think most of the NHL teams with the bigger name prospects didn't want them to play but Anaheim gave in. McTavish insisted and ultimately they decided better to make him happy. I'm just feeling vindicated because I was really high on McTavish in the draft. Certain analytic oriented individuals around here who think they know better mocked me for liking him so this tournament is giving me a big I told you so smile. He was my top forward choice and the guy I would have wanted after Power. He's going to be Anaheim's captain eventually, little question of that imo.

That was it. The anti vax "freedom" crowd hijacked flag waving for the time being as they've tried to portray themselves as "patriots" and "defenders of freedom" rather than the fringe nut cases funded by right wing American money that they are.
-
Maybe that says more about who McTavish is than anything else.

Whats the crazy thing you would do for a Stanley cup?
PerreaultForever replied to Buffalonill's topic in The Aud Club
Already done it. Cheer for Brad Marchand. A true pact with the devil. -
No no reason, except the love of hockey. No reason for McTavish to be there either. But he is. He was fine today. But let's be real, it was Austria. the previous game was a better indicator, and he looked like a potential goal scorer in that one.
-
Not my experience. Far from it. But what does any of this have to do with the NHL or hockey?

Sabres Sign Forward Riley Sheahan to a Two Way Deal; 950k
PerreaultForever replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
and signing Sheahan helps with that? okay. -
Indeed. That McTavish - Bedard combo was dynamite. There's no question whoever tanks best this year is getting one heck of a hockey player and Anaheim already got a good one.

Kulich, player of the game for Chechia. His goal above reminded me of a typical Pasternak goal. Just a perfect snipe. Goalie has no chance. He's a shooter. Missed the net in the shootout trying too hard for just inside the post I guess, but he was very good all game. Goalie couldn't handle his shot on the tying goal either, which resulted in the tap in from in front. From what I've seen in the 2 games so far this pick is looking very very good. Raty was very good for Finland which will irritate a few people. 🙂 Rat-y style knee on knee with Jirichek as well. Overall even game.

That's great, as long as they combine all that with a look at the player's character, his attitude, his compete level. Do they have stats that differentiate how they play in an easy game or regular game vs. say when they are losing and need extra effort? You know what I mean, the kind of thing actual scouts see. You need to combine that with the metrics for the true measure of the man to be.
-
Well they have to though don't they? They traded away the big names on the roster so there has to be a return. The team is all in on the draft, so it simply HAS to work. If the plan was draft AND adding some free agents they could afford a few draft misses, but with this plan, the draft simply has to be very good or it'll be another decade before we see the playoffs.
