  1. Could be. Might not be. Could be almost anything at all. Yup.
  2. Umm...........no. But watch KA sign him to a 2 million per 2 year contract next year and then watch him end up in Rochester by Christmas.
  3. Well yes, just like I didn't say it was wrong, nowhere did I say it had to be NHL hockey. There's a women's league now too. That might be a new thing for some as well.
  4. idk what some of you are talking about. I thought that was pretty atrocious hockey on both sides. Both teams basically playing to where they sit in the division standings (last and second to last). Giroux as a real veteran leader tried his best to lift them but otherwise that team looks like they've cashed it in for the season. Coach firing definitely hasn't worked. We were about the same as we usually are. Sabres have some snipers who can score any time any moment, we know this, and they did, but overall it was sloppy inconsistent bad hockey all around. But hey, win's a win.
  5. Because he knows he can bully them. Just for once maybe punch back harder and quit whining. Ottawa is garbage. If we lose to them again we are garbage on fire.
  6. Ya, I grew up in Hamilton and fondly remember my dad making me the backyard rink. That was a long time ago and I don't think that's easy to do any more around there. Generally not cold enough any more. Lived in Ottawa for a while and skated on the canal. They rarely open that any more either. ice too thin and unstable now.
  7. I didn't say it was "wrong". Everybody can watch what they want for whatever reason they want. You can watch Sabres games if Marty Biron turns you on if you want or for any reason at all and that's fine, but if you don't like hockey if it's not the Sabres then you're not really a fan of hockey, you're a fan of the Sabres. That's all I said. No judgement. It's just different.
  8. This Gauthier thing is fascinating. Apparently Briere went to the Worlds, wanted to meet with him to talk, and the kid said no. Wouldn't even talk to him so the Flyers attitude became "who the F*ck does he think he is?" and that was that. Under the circumstances I think they got a decent return and now maybe they move Walker or Seeler at the deadline even if they are still competing. Can't wait for the day some new prima dona does this to the Sabres he says sarcastically............ Flyers talk is he better keep his head up when he comes to town. That I guess, is Philly hockey.
  9. I actually hadn't thought of that but good point. I kind of just mean there's love of hockey, and then there's love of your chosen team(s) and imo those are two separate things. My favourite hockey of all is the Olympics if the NHL is there or the Canada Cup and in those the Sabres can be spread around all over as friends and foes. Hope to see something like that again soon.
  10. Well that's fair so maybe it's a Canadian thing. Just love the game, period. I watch hockey just about every night and sometimes 3 games in the same night plus highlights. Played the game and watched it all my life. Don't like the current era as much as I did the 70's but it has new and different charms. If the Sabres folded tomorrow I'd still watch hockey all the time. Probably more Kraken. I've pretty much lost my love for football, but I will be watching some playoffs (hope it snows).
  11. I meant the current group and most of all Granato but yes, there was this Jack moment and look where he ended up. We all put blame on him and we were all glad of the trade and re-set and now I think we all know that Eichel-Reinhart-Risto were NOT the problem. All three of them are now on teams doing better than they were (even Risto) and the Sabres are, well, the same. We could get into ROR too if you like. It all leads to one conclusion, it's not the players. It's the organization itself. It's the coaches, management AND ownership as the point all of that comes from. Unless that changes, not going to matter who we draft or trade for.
  12. Well I would just say if you are losing interest in the NHL because of the Sabres you're not really a fan of hockey, you're just a fan of the local team. I'd suggest you go watch some other local sport. Bandits still a thing? Bills of course. Probably something else you could find. If you love hockey though, there's lots of good hockey and I've seen many great games this year. Unfortunately only a handful of those were Sabres games. But the hockey? Most nights there's good if not great hockey easily found.
  13. idk I've said that for a number of years now but there's still bums in seats. The numbers are down, as they should be, but it's not quite empty yet. I guess season ticket holders are rich and/or afraid to lose their seats if and when this team ever gets reasonably good but they are the ones that hold the real power. Season tickets are your guaranteed base level revenue stream (along with broadcasting revenue) but I'm not sure how low that has to fall before a mega millions guy like Pegula wakes up and smells the stink.
  14. idk, I think they are all a package deal. You can single out one or the other but I don't think it would change much. I'm watching Granato's presser on youtube right now and it's just excuses and lame positives. There isn't ANY anger or sense of accountability. (and to the other post, yup, the media questions are definitely softballs) Just once I'd like them to admit they sucked.
  15. Ah poor jealous Sabres fan.................. Actually I couldn't care less. Philly is just Philly and always will be. Comforting in a way. I still don't think they will make the playoffs, but they could be a wildcard.
  16. I question that 🙂 Certainly didn't seem to be the case with the response game after the fire Granato chants. Leadership is definitely missing though.
  17. I forget but when they hired Adams (or fired JBot) was there not some nonsense about Terry feeling he had gotten bad advice from the hockey people? Something like that but it seemed to speak to his arrogance that HE knows better and it's always someone else's fault.
  18. Buffalo media seems as soft as the team. idk if Pegula threatens to lock them out so they softball but I have a hard time find critical media on the Sabres anywhere. It's like Dan and Rob as well. For years now it's just some version of "some good things tonight" no matter what the lack of effort or result is. I'm not sure there's another franchise in the league that goes so soft on their team. The bar isn't just low, it's lying in the mud.
  19. He was not good tonight, no argument on that. Should we go back to the old "can he drive a line?" argument. Tage doesn't. I would say Mitts actually does "drive his line". Cozens does SOMETIMES, and Tuch does now and again but not consistently. The rest not so much. Benson might one day but he's hit the rookie wall, which is what everybody but the Sabres management would realize was only a matter of time. He should be in and out of the line up and be more situational BUT they have nobody to replace him who is any good so he gets to be the next free range rookie on the team. Question: Does ANYBODY coach the D at all? Because either Power doesn't listen or nobody is teaching him anything.
  20. This is an interesting comment because ideally it IS the way they should play. Every team (except the Sabres) knows you go to the net and you screen and tip. That's not unique and that's been hockey forever. They are more solid on the back end but speed with an aggressive forecheck, that SHOULD be the Sabres and it SHOULD be the Sabres EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. But it ain't.
  21. Anyone who thinks Devon Levi is NHL ready is delusional (and that includes KA and Meatballs). Anyone who doesn't think this is a fair weather hockey team that doesn't quit is delusional (and that includes KA and Meatballs). Anyone who thinks they will make the playoffs is delusional and really should seek help. Easy game for Seattle. Proper road hockey. Get a lead and then shut it down. Sabres quit. I pity anyone who goes to games like this and pays money. They should get 2/3 of their money back since Sabres only play for 20-25 minutes. Just another in a long list of low event games that are over about 10 minutes faster than an NHL average in real time minutes. Or as Meatballs says "we're in a moment here".
  22. lol, don't insult me
  23. IF they are sticking with this roster BUT if they have actual free agency plans for next year to take a great leap forward rather than rebuild/build then the 3 million for a bottom end guy matters. Pesce, Hanifin, etc. it's a long list. I do not think the Sabres will go this route and don't think we will add high profile free agents but you never know, they might think the team is ready for a leap.
