  1. True. Another part of the equation (which, frankly, we are not privy to) is whether Jack playing for another team would get Jack on the ice sooner. As far as getting risky surgery, as my contact put it: don't count on the NHL to do the thing that's best for the player, but rather, best for the NHL. At the same time, of course, the NHL does not want Jack Eichel's career to end early, but from what I've heard, many in the field think the disk replacement is a viable option.
  2. You're reading this too narrowly. It may not have anything to do with "promoting stars," as you would interpret that. It could merely be those close to the commissioner, etc., having more influence on the situation than people realize. It could also involve the commissioner shaping things according to whatever particular vision he has (which you may or may not perceive as "promoting stars"). He has the power to do this surreptitiously, and has people more than willing to help him carry it out. You don't have to believe me, but I choose to believe someone who's worked in several franchise front offices for over the past decade +.
  3. Would be lying if I said I'm not teary-eyed. RJ, you gave me some of the greatest memories of both my childhood and my college years.
  4. I would not say it excludes it, but I get your point.
  5. I know someone who has a senior position in an NHL FO (none of the teams involved in Jack), and told me that Mr. Bettman and his cronies will definitely be involved in a case of someone of Jack's stature, especially if there is a question of how soon he returns to the ice. Bettman & Co. have a vested interested in Jack being happy and on the ice ASAP
  6. Everybody testing the rookie GM. Hold your ground, KA
  7. does anyone think this will move the needle as far as the trade/potential return goes? Really hoping it is just noise as far as the front offices go, although it seems it was clearly intended to have an affect on that. I'm amazed people here on these forums think that the statement was meant for us. Like those people who think the news anchor is talking directly to them, personally.
  8. I don't think Jack would consider making millions less $ as a "win." Wherever he ends up.
  9. Sure, just let me know when you've decided which narrative you're rolling with btw, KA was reportedly shopping him before last season
  10. People always say "what will the locker room be like if Jack is here in the fall?" This is the NHL, not real housewives. Ppl watch too much TV
  11. except, reports are that KA was shopping him before Jack even knew it... I'm beginning to believe this forum is being populated by Ranger bots
  12. Yeah, I also found it pretty random, but he seems to have admitted to it in multiple interviews
  13. 🤔 I thought he said he was actually a Montreal fan
  14. Doesn't sound like he's a leader 😛
  15. I once sat next to Steve Martin at a concert
  16. I agree with this response from twitter:
  17. I am sad. He proved he could be a solid center for us, and we wasted this when we really needed it.
  18. Didn't I read that the reports say he's training & back on the ice?
  19. I will not question your needs 😜
  20. He played soft because he didn't hit people/fight? Big dudes could not take Vanek off the puck, nor could they remove him from the front of the net. I don't call that "soft"
  21. I was about to post the same thing. I think he is uniquely qualified to understand “culture” better than most
