Is Don Granato the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff?
GASabresIUFAN replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
“How am I going to get another coaching job after working for this idiot.” “Does this guy actually know anything about hockey?” “I wonder how late Chef’s is open and can I order spaghetti-parm with a side of meatballs to go on their website?” -

I have no grudge against Ullmark. He deserved his payday unlike the real chump of chumps Taylor Frickin Hall. -

I doubt these guys will be juiced to be playing against Hall and Ullmark. -

I doubt he'd like playing for this team. This is a real team with everyone so far getting equal minutes and putting forth equal effort. Jack would be annoyed that everything isn't being run through him. -

Watching KO play under DG is further evidence what a terrible coach RK was and is. I know the competition hasn’t been the top of the league, but this team is playing with the freedom and want of last year’s team once DG took over with good goaltending. Honestly it’s a pleasure to watch. Solid goals by Thompson and Skinner around the net. Interesting stat tonight. Balance PT tonight among the forwards at 14-15 minutes except Asplund who played 18. Also balance with the D around 20 minutes except who Butcher 18 and Dahlin 16. -
Frazier has them playing zone and not a single blitz. Dumb.
-
Josh is trying to force the ball. Take what the D gives you, move the chains and win the darn game. Dumb.

How many points will the Sabres finish with

He is Craig Wolanin’s son. Former UND player. Probably knows DG from USA hockey circles. -
Couldn’t agree more on R2. Im no Butcher fan (ok, that’s an understatement), but he was a terrible fit for a Lindy Ruff coached team, especially if NJ lacked enough D first D to balance a guy like Butcher. DG runs a different vision. He doesn’t mind putting to O first D together, like Bryson and Miller, as long as they are willing to work hard to get back. He wants to play fast, and I think his hope is 2 good skaters will move the puck up quickly. It worked in game one. 81 to go and we’ll see if 2 O first pairings will work. Honestly both Miller and Butcher’s careers are on the line this season. They better step up if they want decent contracts in the NHL next season.

Updated Sabres Prospect Pool 2021 and beyond
GASabresIUFAN replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
@dudacek Now you know why I think Nadeau is a better draft pick and better player then the 2 guys drafted in the 3rd round by the Sabres. -
If they play with that effort every night they’ll win more then expected and bring back the fans. If they don’t, then it’s just words.

Or an indictment of previous leaders like ROR and Jack.

Sneaky good signing Amerks, Peterka or someone coming up soon?

This guy should have been given a PTO for the Sabres. -

GASabresIUFAN replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I went and looked at the box score. Interesting how balanced all the play was. It looks like DG so far doesn’t have a No .1 line or a top D pair. Should be interesting to see if this balance remains over the rest of the season. Anyone see how Mitts got hurt? -

I just got to watch the 9 minute highlight reel. Impressive. Great leadership from the vets Okposo, Anderson and Big 7. From the highlights it looks like we were the better team from the opening faceoff, plus we got some great and timely saves from Anderson. Gives one hope. -
Sabres Roster Turnover the last 3 seasons
GASabresIUFAN replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
The large turnover here reflects that management couldn’t find a combination that worked, but even successful rebuilds have high turnover as the kids replace vets. Every team goes through some turnover every year do to cap and other considerations. Obviously the hope now is guys like Quinn, JJP and Samuelsson push out the JAGs by next season to help establish a new core and create a stable competitive franchise soon. If we assume that Mitts, Cozens, Asplund, R2, Jokiharju, Dahlin and possibly Thompson are pieces of the future, then add Power, JJP, Quinn and Samuelson to the mix next season, I think we have the potential start of a deep team. The defense looks very promising and we’ll have to wait and see if the young forwards can build on last season. One thing we know for sure is that with 10 UFAs on the current roster more turnover is coming. -
I feel better now.

I didn't want to be accused of being doom and gloom all the time.

Dreger: Eichel situation may be shifting, multiple teams involved
GASabresIUFAN replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
I have sided mostly with the Sabres in this matter. Having a renowned Dr on the Sabres side certainly helps. However if 4-5 teams are willing to assume the risk of the $ and the surgery, it’s probably time to take the best deal and get this drama over with. Make sure you get 4 pieces to save face even if 2 are contingent and move on -
How long until we see Rousseau line up as a goal line TE? He played WR in high school and his hands look pretty good on that interception. At 6-6 266 he'd make a huge target for Allen. He ran a 4.68 at his team pro day before the draft. (Knox ran a 4.59 at his pro day).
