I've been snowboarding in Salt Lake many times, though I haven't been since COVID. Strictly from a snowboarding perspective, it's the best spot I've ever been to as the snow and terrain might be the best in the world. Apparently crowds have since gotten bad as the Utah puritan reputation has somewhat worn off. Snowboarding won't matter to JJ though since it would void his contract. I know a guy who played a season there for the Grizzlies 25 years ago. His attitude towards the off the ice stuff was much like JJ (he said he liked to play "guilty"). Said the clubs weren't very good, and many of the local girls were off limits. He also said alcohol was more taboo than other harder substances which made interacting even weirder. He did really like training in the mountains though and liked the restaurant scene. Obviously, things have become much more liberal and the Mormon % has dropped in the last 25 years. I can personally say I've been very much over served in the beehive state (very, very much)... much to the regret of my next day on the mountain. Still, I'd far take Buffalo nightlife over SLC. Maybe JJ will get in with some $$$ crowd over in Park City, but I'm thinking he'd be far younger than the clientele there.

Matthew Fairburn Latest Article regarding Terry Pegula and Adams
JoeSchmoe replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Buffalo has the most hockey viewers per capita and best TV ratings out of any US market. Even factoring in population size (viewers * ratings), they're still pretty high (though I don't have recent numbers on this). Growing the TV contract is Bettman's job #1. The league needs Buffalo and it's viewers, along with all the Buffalo ex-pats across the US. -
The offseason so far - Are the Sabres better?
JoeSchmoe replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
I worry Thompson might lose a few goals without a Peterka level player in the lineup. I also fear a regression from Zucker. Hopefully Quinn can be what we thought he was, and hopefully Norris, Kulich, and Benson all chip in. I've been burnt far too many times to get my hopes up on any of this though. And we still need at least one of Levi, Lyon, or UPL to be a real NHL starting goalie. Unfortunately, I'm especially jaded this isn't going to happen. It'll be exciting however if it does. -

Despite the bluster I find deep down, Rivet is actually sincere, humble guy and I like listening to him. Peters on the other hand thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, which (as per your post) is very far from the truth. I'm still a regular listener, but if Rivet left, there's no chance I'm listening to Peters. -

Connor Timmins filed for arbitration; Bo Byram did not
JoeSchmoe replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
With larger sample sizes, I feel like actual GF% is a better metric to measure a player's skill as some of the randomness of shooting (and other intangibles not accurately factored into the model) usually work themselves out over time. -

Maybe JBD didn't wanna be here. -
810pm on a Saturday night and I just logged in to see if there's been a Byram trade.

Connor Timmins filed for arbitration; Bo Byram did not

If Byram really, really wants out, he's going to sign a cap friendly short-term deal which will make him as tradeable as possible. Even if he doesn't get traded right away, he's going to be locked at the hip to Dahlin, who actually makes him look like a viable 1st pairing D (thereby increasing his marketability and future contract value). He definitely doesn't want to sign a lowball offer sheet as Sabres would be likely to match, and they're not allowed to trade him for a full year afterwards. -
I'm going to put this here and hide. What if a $9mill Byram offer sheet comes and we let him go for the picks. Then we use a small part of the money saved to sign a UFA who was one of Vegas' top offensive players from last year.

I think I've checked at least 5 times today. Seeing all the Byram rumours on Twitter isn't helping.

Have a happy Independence Day!!! PS- How are the fireworks in the Buffalo / Niagara area? Anything worth crossing the border for? I'm not a huge firework guy, but we were in Lake George on the 4th many years ago and were taken back by the quality of the show. Being in a mountain valley though really intensified the sound.

Thanks. It's just kind hard to see in that fast paced video without an announcer. -

I wish I could tell who's who. There's some pretty nice plays being made there. -
I've probably gone on this site a 100 times since Tuesday hoping to see a shiny new Bo Byram trade thread pinned at the top of the Aud Club. Still nothing. 😞

Never saw it coming, but they're actually good!

To the Canadian SabreSpace Cadets here, have a happy Canada Day. I meant to send this out earlier but got caught up in the frenzy. 😝

Sabres trade Sam Lafferty to Chicago for a 2026 6th Round Pick
JoeSchmoe replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
He hurt us everytime he stepped on the ice. Can't understand how he got minutes over NAK who was actually ok. -
Radim Mrtka, 6'6" RHD drafted 9th overall by Sabres
JoeSchmoe replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I feel like Lindy isn't a year away from retirement. I think if the team keeps improving and/or gets competitive, he'll be here long term. Speaking of which, when's that goalie signing going to happen?!!! -

To anyone upset about this trade... Check all the advanced and not-so advanced stats. Timmins is a good 3rd pair D. Clifton wasn't. All the Leafs fans I know liked him. Sounds like Pens fans liked him too. I don't think anyone anywhere has liked Clifton. Lots of reasons to be upset with the team so I get the frustration, but this is a small win for us.
