In the first two games, Thompson looked like the Thompson of last year and not 2 years ago. People want to say he was injured last year but I'm not convinced.

I always thought the hate for olofsson was overblown. Maybe he's not the 2nd coming of Bob Gainey, but he can put pucks in nets... Something this team sorely lacks.

Mittelstadt developed. Once he did, we traded him for another youngun who may or may not turn out. As I've started before, Byran was a net negative expected goal player on the Avalanche, which is really hard to do on a team that good. Not writing him off as a player, but his game needs further development to justify the trade.

I've done this twice before.

We bought out Skinner and Mittelstadt was an RFA. In a world where no one wants to come to our team, we got rid of two of the best guys we had. No wonder nobody wants to come here.

Yeah... that's what they're selling us. The plan is flawed though. We'll be lucky to get back to where we were if the young talent holds their own and improves.

They were 23rd in the league in scoring WITH Skinner and Mittelstadt. I also appreciate it's still early, but how in the hell does this team get playoff level scoring without two of their best producers from last year?!?!

Unfortunately, there's been many.

It's two games I know... but we don't have enough players that can score. Sadly, our GM thought that by getting rid of two legit top-6 forwards (Mittelstadt and Skinner) that we'd somehow improve on our 23rd in the league offense. 🥴

Sabres woke up. Let's hope they keep it up. Problem is NJ is playing very good defense. There seems to be at least 4 guys clogging up the scoring lanes at all times.

I don't remember the full GDT format, but happy to get #1 on the year! Hopefully Lindy works his magic, the boys stay healthy, and we end this drought!!!!

Vegas has them at 88 to 90 points. If everything goes right I think they can be better. If some unforeseen things go wrong (injuries, UPL sucking again), they'll be worse. My opinion is that some things will go better than expected and some will go worse than expected and we'll be right where Vegas says we are. For that I consider myself neither a pessimist or optimist. Just a realist.

I've done this so many offseasons in the past. This year I'm not drinking the Kool aid. In a line by line comparison of us vs the good teams in the East, only our 4th line looks like it has top end potential. The rest are below average to average. With this, I tend to agree with Vegas with our 88 to 90 point projections. Edit: here's where I see our forward lines vs the Eastern playoff teams. 1st Line - worse 2nd Line - average 3rd Line - much worse 4th Line - better

Yeah... Make it end and start the regular season! No reason to wait this long and then be playing playoff games well into June.

Almost everyone looked good... As they should have. I thought at times they took the foot off the gas slightly, especially on the PP. They could have really blown it open had they wanted to. Would be nice to see this team on big ice full time, especially the 4th line. Two guys that need to be better from what I saw were Krebs and Zucker. I kind of feel bad for Krebs, but then I think about his contract and I realize he doesn't need to be a pity case.
