Next year is a much tougher schedule. Going to have have major improvements on offense just to make the playoffs.
ultimately we are who we thought we were: an upstart young team who was decently coached riding a soft schedule. In order for us to become contenders JA has to go to the next level. Plenty of cap to add talent otherwise.
4 plays added up to the loss:
1. Knox whiffing on the QB sweep. He makes that block and JA gets 15-20 yards. Game likely over.
2. 3 n 18 inexcusable to give that up.
3. Neal/Milano cancelled each other out allowing DW to escape.
4. The Ford blindside block. Dumb rule but dumb decision.
Any of those 4 go our way and we might of won. All of them went Houston’s way and thus we lose.
One thing not settled in 2020 is the issue of QB. Until we design a real offense we will never win. This loss was on the offense all day. Need better QB play. Play calling was bad in the second half as well. Screens to #26 and we win the game. Oh well... not even that mad, I am used to it.
My gosh with the injuries, save minus Eichel, and our roster is not much better then the tank rosters. 75 points this year may be a stretch. We need 2 centers, another top 6 winger, and a goalie asap.
The flip of the calendar does not magically change a deficient roster. I'm pretty sure this is who the Sabres are. A very talent deficient roster that does not have a strong defensive game, good goaltending, or clutch scoring depth. I expect no better than 80 points.
