He never played an nhl game. Last year he played one and year before he played 6. Since that big playoff push with Ottawa he’s barely even played in the nhl. Why on earth would signing have any inpact on nhl starts. Heck upl once healthy will start in roch over him.

In terms of the Barrie component he only has one year left and is than a UFA. I would be surprised they can afford the extension. Looks like a one year rental to me.

You could argue Toronto got slightly worse. Ron Hainsey moves on (he was playing pretty decent minutes for them even at that age), Gardner, and Marleau (not worth his cap hit but still was a contributor). Then again, at this time last year I was pissed about the Tavares signing and they ended up exactly as they did the year before. So who knows.
