Big goal for canada!! Great move by reinhart. Won't show up on the score sheet but what a smart move to draw in the defender like that!

I can't wait to hear Reinhart's name announced after a goal once again tonight. I get giddy thinking how many times we're going to hear the PA guy announce his name in the ACC over the next decade......

I agree we wouldn't have to trade Myers. I just took exception to a thought another team would have a better young D core if we end up with Hannifan after the draft. I don't know if I want Hannifan at 3 or not. It all depends on if Marner can keep this pace the rest of the way and how Strome looks in the playoffs.
-
I don't even know Nashville's blue line but I would have to think Risto, Zad, Myers, Hannifan, Pysyk and McCabe would be the best young D corps in the league. I don't know how we would score goals but if defense still wins championships then..... I still hope we find our way into the top two of course.

True but he's putting up Patty Kane type numbers (better I think right now) and Kane isn't a big dude. If we pick in the top 5 we are going to get a very very good player.

Agree with you dudacek. Crouse is a guy you want on the ice come playoff time. He's not putting Derek Roy junior numbers but he's a very big body who skates well and throws the body around. His hands don't appear to be elite but the still look to be above average. His goal a couple of games ago was pretty nice. I wouldn't want him with our first (hopefully top 5) pick but I'd trade up to 10 or 12 if he lasts that far.

Wow, surprised by this one. I was looking forward to another Canada / USA game. Oh well, this is what can happen in these one game eliminations. Didn't get to see much of the game today but looking good for the Sabres that Fasching had a good tourney. How has Compher looked?

Fair points, hopefully the tank rolls on and we won't be looking at either of them unless it's with our second first (likely have to move up still). At this point I would still move up to the middle of the first for one of them but it will be interesting to see how their second halves of the season go.

@Liger - Doesn't Crouse play a similar game to your boy Zacha or are you off his bandwagon as well? I haven't seen much of Zacha but from what I've read his game is similar to Crouse in that they are both power forwards who are big, can hit and skate well. Zacha has 9 goals in 21 games, while Crouse has 12 goals in 24 games. Not sure why my the quote feature doesn't work.

I can see your point and that's exactly how I usually think. I would look at his stats and say why the heck is this guy in the top ten. But watch him the rest of the tourney. I changed my tone after watching him. You just never see guys play that big and physical and have A plus plus skating ability. He's like a heat seeking missile out there. He's only played third line minutes but they have created a ton of scoring chances. We will see how he continues to progress. Just saying from what I've seen he looks much better than his stats show.

Actually I've been pretty impressed with crouse this wjc. I've never seen him before the world junior tourney and although he hasn't been on the score sheet much he is a very powerful forward and had several chances. He's a big guy who skates very very well and plays physical. His hands still look ok and if he can find his scoring touch then look out. I'd love trading both later round firsts and possibly more to move up and take crouse if he falls to around 10. Keep an eye on him today in the game.

Very true on the Ritchie points. He's Zach Kassian 2.0. Guy is wildly over-rated and his game won't translate to the NHL IMO. He is a big dude that throws illegal hits and has made a name for himself in junior by doing it. I really don't see him living up to where he was drafted.

I agree we won't get a ton but I'm just not sure what an unproven UFA goalie's worth is to the Sabres. Watching some of these prospects play in the WJC is making me feel better about not finishing in DFL but there are some game changing prospects at the top of next years draft. What good is Enroth playing lights out for the next three months and ruining our chances at one of these top guys if there is far from a guarantee that a) he is an average to above average starter after this year or b) Enroth may want to parle this great year into a big contract and not resign before July 1. I agree with you that Enroth has not had enough time to prove himself yet as to whether he can be the long term answer yet. Therefore I don't want it to be him killing the tank. I can live (and be happy with) guys like Girgs, Risto and Zad playing great and us winning games but not an unproven UFA goalie.

Ya I completely agree that you cannot use the wingers as an excuse when playing on a stacked team. To make the point even more clear, McDavid is playing with Nic Petan on his other wing and not Ritchie (by the way Ritchie is way over rated IMO). Petan is a great player so there is no excuse. McDavid looks ok out there but I thought he would be more game changing. Possibly still getting back into the swing of things after being off for so long with that injury?

What do we know that other teams don't? If the Sabres think he's a bonifide starter then other teams in the league might as well. If he's not a legit starter in the Sabres eyes then it's in the best interest of this organization to sell him to the highest bidder of a contending team to play as their backup and insurance policy. Because if he hasn't demonstrated this ability by now then we still don't have our answer in net and will have to look elsewhere come the summer. In the meantime he won't be a dynasty shootout goaltender and it will aid the tank.

Trading Enroth would help the tank. It won't happen but I would trade him and worry about our goaltending in the offseason. Who knows if Enroth doesn't want to wait and hit the free agent market after this season anyways?

Ya Samson has been great. I think you need wingers that can battle in the corners to help get the puck but his vision is second to none. He really is one of those guys where if you just casually watch him you are left wondering what the hype is about but if you watch closely he is always making the right play. I haven't seen him with one missed pass this whole tourney. Also been very good on the draw which the Sabres have been lacking for awhile.
