  1. Had a CT scan Tuesday afternoon, get out of work yesteday to 4 voicemails from my doctor's office telling me to call back. Short version of the conversation, I need to have further testing done on my liver and prostate. Seeing as how I am not even 40, the issues with the latter has me frealking out a bit. though my doctor didn't utter the dreaded C----- word, the urgency in her voice to get me further testing has me concerned, trying to keep my head up, Sabres wins will help there haha If the worst news comes, I'll be ready to kick this in the teeth

A couple of nights ago I was thinking that Pilut is the runner-up for Sabres rookie of the year, behind Dahlin and ahead of Mitts and Tommer.

Then I started thinking that that wasn't really fair to Mitts, who has had to carry perhaps a bigger burden than was fair to expect him to carry, and certainly bigger than Pilut's burden.

Still:  Pilut has pretty seamlessly stepped into a pretty significant role, is playing a top-4 role and top-4 minutes on a decent-to-good NHL team, has played the role of Risto's partner pretty well and generally looks like he belongs.  At this point, he's contributing more than Mitts.

    Thoughts?

Mitts was definitely thrown into a tough situation. I know he scored last night, but, overall his offense hasn't been there as much as we'd like, but on the other hand, i dont think he's been a liability defensively either. Learning some two way hockey right off the bat, the offense will come. I think he breaks 15 goals this year, maybe pushes 20

This is the one thing that gets lost when we have these discussions.

Back when I used to have some connections I would get hints of things that were happening.  Even then, the people who knew weren't saying specifics, just mentioning that there are some "things and such" going on that shape what we, the fans, were seeing.

Bottom line for me and ROR... if every team he plays for continues to struggle when he's there, then it's enough for me.  I don't care what the situation is with him, just glad that he's not here and the team is improved.

If the Sabres win the cup this year or soon, I still believe that this argument will still stand, it will stand the test of time, this argument is essentially a cockroach.

I mean, don't stop guys, I am enjoying reading it, but I fear that Randall may have a stroke

I have only been around these boards maybe a year or so, how long did it take before the losses of Drury and Briere stopped being lamented?

Tarasenko is a RW, age 26, with 4 more years on his contract after this year at a $7.5MM cap hit.

In his last 4 seasons, he has 37, 40, 39 and 33 goals.

Proposal:  KO, Nylander, Guhle, McCabe and the 2 worst first-rounders the Sabres have in the next 2 years for Tarasenko.

Does JB say no?  Does Armstrong?

    (I think Armstrong says no.)

IMHO, that's way too much to give up. History has shown us what happens when you deplete your defensive depth (06 season playoffs), McCabe being out has been really bad for us too.

they wouldn't take KO either, not a chance

Not sure why he is sucking this year, but Tarasenko is better than Skinner.

I’d rather pay Tarasenko $7.5 for four than Skinner that much for 8. Depends on what we could get for Skinner and what Tarasenko would cost. Vlad would not be cheap.

Leafs need to move for Parayko or Pietrangelo.

this is a tough call, Skinner and Eichel already have some massive chemistry, there's no guarantee that Tarasenko would have the same with Eichel. Skinner and Eichel already work well and it's proven, but, i get your thoughts on contract length as well.

Have a job interview in Philadelphia I'm very on the fence about. The opportunity sounds very promising; a ton of travel, new city, and much more opportunity. However, it is not exactly in the technical area I am in currently, I am familiar with, and quite honestly sounds less challenging. The trade offs of course being growth and experience. Also, it is a lateral move salary wise to a much more expensive city

Any and all advice is welcome. Seriously, call me a dumbass if I'm being one ?

about 2 years ago I had a huge decision to make when i was medically discharged from the Air Force. I narrowed my job offers down to two that i really thought i would like. so i made  a list of what was important to me and then ordered them in level of importance.

one job was in Northern VA just outside of DC making more $ than I ever thought i'd make and the other was in Dayton OH making a lot less $, but, i had to take into account the cost of living as one of my most important factors as the jobs were both something i knew i would enjoy. My wife and i knew what kind of house we wanted to build and it was just not feasable to live near DC and the crazy prices there. Second on the list was how busy DC is and the amount of time we'd spend commuting (I know because i was stationed there 10 years ago.) In the end, it wasn't really much of a choice, we picked Ohio and love it here. Built out dream house for $500K less than we wouldve paid in DC

long story short, make a list of important factors and rank them accordingly and the pros and cons that come with them. good luck

Just saw that happened 6 minutes before my post...Would you do Brassard for Sobotka and Beaulieu? Takes Sobotka off the books for next year?

That trade as is, can't even happen, the Pens only have $116K cap space, Brassard would be $3M out but Sobotka and Baloo would be $5.9M in. darn that salary cap

Anyone have any experience selling things on Craigslist? I'm trying to sell my Pontiac G6 and figure that is the best bet to get an ad out there, but I am kind of terrified of meeting strangers and getting scammed/ending up in a ditch. So far I have had a bunch of scammers contact me and not many legit locals, and I'm wondering if I'm doing it wrong or it just takes a long time.

Figure this community might have some pointers to help out.

I have sold two vehicles on Craigslist and had no issues, perhaps i was just lucky. When the people wanted meet to check out the car, I took a friend one meeting and my dad on the other meeting. I met them both outside of Target (they have surveillance camera's watching the parking lot) i just parked real close and in view of the camera. both times the people were super nice and paid in full without any issue. i guess it's just timing, hoping the right buyer sees your ad and wants your car.

i made sure to have as many pictures online and that seemed to help. good luck.

  10. Going to be going to Cincy for a Cyclones game in December on Star Wars night. I'll keep an eye out for Sabres prospects like Glotov. Isn't there a Sabres goalie prospect down there? I looked up some stats and Glotov is doing really well, 4-13 +9 in 20GP.. D-man Stephens is 2-9 +12 in 18GP..

And that chart illustrates the point I am trying to make re: gameplay

This matches what my eyes tell me.  And I agree it is good news overall, but they’ll need to adjust as the season gets to grinding.

they are bound to clean up the play and stop letting the quality scoring chances happen. Eichel is bound to start putting more pucks in the net. i guess i can't see some collapse and long losing streaks

I think this can end any debate as to why we are winning games. Worst in the NHL at giving up quality scoring chances and expected goals agains, yet, #1 in slot save %. Hutton and Ullmark are monsters this year in the net

    Image result for youngblood movie

Well my routine of watching NHL channel after work to unwind went into watching movie Youngblood from 1986. Hockey sure has changed from just 30 plus years ago although some people still think fighting should have its place. Any of you who have never seen it should check it out on netflix, there is even a gratuitous mention of Buffalo.

Any who, everybody likes the classic theme of newbie upstarts (Sabres/Dahlin) taking on the bad boy perennial conference champs(Lighting).

    Time to ground the Lightning.

    Let's go Buff-a-lo!

i see what you did there

He's gonna sign with Toronto just in time and for a mid range term and year deal. Their real issue is next year when they have to pay Marner and Matthews and Reily. Marner is going to cost them $8+

Marner already has 30 assists, that's nuts.

i was discussing the Leafs salary cap with a Leafs fan and his final guarantee was that Matthews, Marner, Nylander would not be over $25M of their yearly cap. seems a tad low IMO
