  1. Anyone know if the game is Versus exclusive, or do I have to listen to the idiots from the Islanders broadcast booth this afternoon?

I'm listening to the game online from the Buffalo feed. Great to hear Rick and Jim!!!

I just heard Miller make a spectacular save. Who did he stop?

Some would argue that the Versus broadcasters are idiots too. <_<

I've heard that too. Too bad they won't play HNIC on any of the American networks.

  2. Although the Sabres' PP has been slowly crawling back to life, a big improvement has been overlooked; the PK. Opponents have been 0-13 in the last 4 games since Tallinder has returned. Great win, Good Guys!

Refresh my memory, please. Didn't Tallinder file for arbitration at the end of last season, only to see Darcy ante up to avoid the arbiter? Whatever the case, this was a good deal all around!!!

  3. Spacek rode Nichol into the net on a 2-on-2 rush, and after Nichol got up he sucker punched Spacek essentially from behind.

I just checked out the official score sheet on NHL.com. Nichol received 27 minutes in penalties for that hit -- including the Instigator. Not only can he be suspended, but his coach can be fined for that hit as well.

See, Bettman does have a "few" good points when it comes to rules.

  4. Don't get me wrong, I love the score, but this game is one of the things I don't like about the NHL.

I've been waiting for a good hockey game and this was the one I had circled.

But instead, Nashville draws the short straw and has to play last night, travel and then face a team who had the night off.

I don't think teams should have to play on tired legs unless the other team has the same schedule.

Good point. Just look back at the last Olympics. Much better parity. Just ask Teppo and Toni. Too bad they didn't bring back gold for Finland.

  5. They also appear to think their mustards are cool. Fashion sense, anyone?

The mustards were voted the Worst 3rd Jersey in the Espos last year under the Mr. Blackwell award. :bag: Surprisingly, the old Sabres reds were nominated for that award. I don't know why. I acutally liked the reds!

I admit, I'm not even listening to the game. I don't even have my XM on anymore. Honestly, I'm sick of satellite radio. Music channels are way too repetitious.

  6. During the broadcast they said that the weather was so bad that the Rangers would be staying over night instead of leaving. With Buffalo due in Washington tomorrow, I was wondering what the weather does to their travel plans,

Don't worry. DC had its share of weather problems as well. However, considering just how busy that town is, they have to keep things running smoothly there. Trust me. I've lived in that area before, and I've driven through there. The smoother they can keep things running, the better it is for everyone to get through.

However, it could be worse. Try driving through Oklahoma, where they apparently don't have a clue on how to plow the roads (except for the major interstates, and even some of that's rather half-way). I had to remind one of the locals that the storm they had there couldn't even come close to the Blizzard of '77.

What can I say about Ryan Miller? He has a way of coming through when it really matters the most. Listening to the key saves he made when it counted just about had me on the edge of my seat! :worthy:

  7. I certainly don't fault him for his talent. What I do fault him for is how he plays. When he is that talented, there is no need to play bush league.

You have a valid point. However, there is something else to take into consideration. Scott Laughlin of Hockey This Morning on XM's Home Ice once said that the only team that loves an agitator is the one he plays for, i.e. when Bam Bam played for the Blue and Gold. Everyone else hated him, but we loved him. Thus, the Leaves' fans must love Tucker.

Having said all that, I have one thing to say to Toronto: Make like a tree and "leave".

  8. Sweet, F*cker didn't get a game star.

If you're referring to Darcy Tucker, I hate to burst your bubble. I just looked up the official scoresheet on nhl.com. He did get the third star.

As much as most Sabres fans can't stand him (count me in that group), he leads the league in PPGs. I do have to give him credit for that.

  9. We need to trade one of our forward prospects for a no. 5/6 d-man.

Only problem is we still may have to cut someone that way, this team is still too thin on D.

That is just plain ugly! Reminds me too much of the Stanley Cup playoffs when we were down 4, count 'em, 4 blue liners.

Hehe, that will pad the shorthanded goal stats for us---2 in less than a minute :P

Miller was absolutely huge in this game, making big save after big save in the later parts of the 3rd period...

Make that 20 seconds. When was the last time a team pulled of two SHGs in that short a time span? That is just unreal! I'm sure I'll hear about it in the morning on Home Ice.

  10. He tried to clear a rebound from in front, which just appeared to bounce away from him.

I think he should've taken a swipe at it rather than try to get it under control, but hindsight is 20/20.

Well, he's either going to learn from it, or he could wind up like that guy with some funky Russian name who got booted off the Senators team because he refused to go to Binghamton (although, not to that extreme).

Doggone it! I just lost my XM feed. It got replaced with Chicago at Calgary. What's up with that, XM?

  11. You'd think we wre playing in Toronto with BS calls like the one on Mair, what a friggin' joke.

"That is an absolute joke!" -- Lindy Ruff on Darcy Tucker's cheap knee hit on Jochen Hecht last season. The quote should say enough.

im out, gonna logoff now, go have a few cold ones, and watch tv, and check for updates on espn/espn news..happy thanksgiving everyone.....go sabres/go bills...... i will be in OP sunday to watch those pathetic bunch of idiots called the Bills..... hope they can pull one out, I mean i am driving over 600 miles to see them for crying out loud

Sabretooth, that's amazing. You live in enemy terrisorry, er, I mean, territory. I hope you don't live anywhere near Raleigh. Them 'Caniacs are an enigmatic breed.

  12. First game since the Sabres caused a Philly Revolution! Should be fun!

I had to make a delivery south of Philly this morning. I wore my Sabres "Old Time Hockey" shirt with Mad Max's name and 61 on it. No one said a word to me. Gee, I wonder why.

BTW, Scott Laughlin of Home Ice said on "Hockey This Morning" that Philly was having such a terrible start, and it's not going to get any better for them, considering that the Sabres were coming to town. Don't I wish I was at the Wachovia Center to cheer our boys on (and still be humble about it by not gloating in front of all the other Philly fans)!!!
