  1. I will say Philly is done after 60 minutes...

BUT GET YOUR ROUND TW..Errrr I mean yeah let's wait for the end of the game...

    hehe

Yeah, but I just don't see that happening... ^_^

Pomminstein makes it 4-0 after the Sabs kill off a power play...

  2. I missed the 1st period due to work as well, but caught the final two. In Lindy's postgame remarks he said that by the Sabres stats, Miller only faced one real scoring chance in the 1st.

Montreal really carried much of the play in the 2nd period, and man...every chance, Miller was right there. Miller was giving up very few rebounds, and flat out robbed one Canadien on a cross-crease save. Also made a real nice save on a backhanded shot on a rush, where he stacked the pads.

Also, you have to give some cred to the Sabres stellar defensive play. There was rarely a Canadien left open, and Montreal had tons of passes intercepted by the Sabres in their own zone. The PK also looked very strong tonight as well.

Still, another strong game by Miller. I thought he looked like he was getting back to his old self.

That is very good news indeed. They're now 4-1 in their last 5... :)

  3. Well, Lindy's in a pickle now. How can he not reward Biron with another start on Wednesday? But if he does, and Biron is great again, you have a serious goaltender controversy. Is that a bad thing though?

Terrible penalty by Hecht in the third period, leading to the winning goal. Tucker made him look like a fool.

I just don't know what to make of this team. Take away a near-spectacular performance by Marty, and we're ripping these guys to shreds again. Yet, I see them dominate for minutes on end. It's as if they can be as good as they want to be. What's stopping them?

As of right now, it isn't a contoversy since Miller has not played well for a month, and it does not make sense to throw him in against Ottawa right now.

For what other reason was Biron kept than to be insurance if Miller folded?

  4. I like Frankenchara better than Charastein.

What is it that when I see this I have a mental picture of a QB with the #11 on his Jersey?

I guess the best way to think about the Sabres-Senators situation is that in the biggest matchup of the season between the teams, Ottawa won, and handily. A win tonight by the Sabres doesn't erase that at all. That big meatball will be hanging around the Sabres' neck if the teams meet in the playoffs... unless, of course, the Sabres beat the Senators three times in a row coming up and steal the division title.

Remember the previous "Game of the Year" against the Otters was one where a banged up (I believe Connelly, Hecht, and Brierre were out) Sabres beat Hasek on an that around the world move by Vanek.

The Sabres can play with Ottawa if they show up the first period instead of the third.

  5. The Flyers are only 5 points behind the Sabres(The Sabres have two games in hand). I wouldn't call 4th place a lock. There is a lot of hockey to be played yet.

Personally, I'd rather be in fifth or sixth than fourth, anyway. Too much pressure if you lose one of the first two. Win one on the road, and you get home ice.

We're are nearly a lock to play Philly or NY anyway in round 1...

  6. Why Paille isn't with the team right now is a mystery to me.

I agree. Possibly Novotny, too. Are the Amerks officially out of the playoffs, yet? I also think Vanek needs to work with either Drury or possibly Briere.

I think Timmy and Jochen have become two of the best players on the team. Pyatt and Peters are a major step down as their replacements.

  7. Nice effort to make it a game in the end but there is no way they could be the Sens in a best of 7 series. Just don't have the overall talent. That being said I think they are a very good team(duh) and can beat nearly every other team in the league in a best of 7 series( not sure about Detroit). Here's hoping that Miller gets his first shutouts of the year when they play Ottawa in the playoffs!

I disagree. They did not show up for the first two periods for some reason. Discounting the empty netter, the Sabres won the third period. They aren't going to blow them away in four games, but that's ok as long as we win the seventh.

The fact that they didn't wilt in the third says a lot about the team...
