  1. 2001 Audi A6 2.7T

    2004 Toyota Siena AWD

    2003 Kubota L3130

    2006 Polaris Sportsman 700EFI

    We have a 600 foot driveway. ;-)

The boys just got a Suzuki JR50 and a Honda XR50...

    Now:

2004 Toyota Sienna AWD (~185k, expect we can pull 250-300k out of it)

2003 Kubota L3130 (love this thing)

2006 Polaris Sportsman (Love it when its running good, but the engine heat tends to vapor lock the fuel line - annoying)

2004 JR50 is awaiting the two year old

2002 Honda XR50 is still used by one of the twins, but he should be transitioning off it this year

2001 Honda XR70 - Both Hondas are fantastic

    2004 Yamaha TTR90 - New to us

    Also picked up 4 Ski-Doos - 2000 and 2002 MXZ 700s, 2001 Formula Deluxe 700, and a 2006 MXZ 800

2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab (to pull the sleds to WNY or Northern Maine)

The A6 met an untimely demise due to Mass emission standards. It ran great, had 145k, but needed catalytic convertors (~$2k a piece). Hopefully someone in another state is enjoying it.

  2. If johnny football is there at 9.....should we take him?

This is tough, because the kid is small and may have some immaturity issues, however he can be a real game changer..... I just don't know if his speed translates to the NFL

Yes. I won't say EJ is a bust, I will say he's pretty fragile. If you go with the running type QB (which EJ needs to be at this point), I think you need quality depth due to the high probability of injury. Who starts, and who's depth, matter not to me. It could be more of a pitching rotation...

  3. I would remain a Bills fan if they moved the team to Toronto, LA, London or other. I was born a Buffalo fan. It's not something I can rinse off. Maybe because I root for the team from afar, it is different for me. I would be genuinely sad for Buffalo if they left. I would probably be mad. But I would remain a fan. I'm not wired like that. I just can't turn it off and become a, pick a team, fan tomorrow.

If they move, the NFL will be dead to me. It's on life support as it is. I think at one point in the late 80s I knew the name of every Bills player on the team. Every once in a while I try to get back into it, but between the questionable calls by refs, the selfishness of the players/agents/management, and the constant threat of them moving, it just isn't the same. I minimize my interest in football in front of the kids... I've pushed them more toward baseball and hockey than the football I played.

  4. I was wondering what the reaction would be for people who didn't read the books. You didn't disappoint! :P

I haven't seen an episode yet from this season, but thought it ought to be about time to check this thread for that type of reaction... Fantastic!

I'm glad they broke book 3 into two seasons, as I thought last season was to truncated... especially using Tywin instead of Bolton at Harrenhall.

  5. Hey D4rk, any power yet today? How's everyone else that's being affected?

Here in Elmira/Ithaca/Dryden it's just chilly and a constant drizzle, with a slight breeze now and then. Looks like the sun might peak out. This area of NY definitely was spared, and I feel blessed for that. I hope everyone in the affected areas are keeping safe!

No power here, either... Projected restoration is on Friday...

  6. This thread has drifted a bit from strictly a discussion re: Kassian-Hodgson, but I saw this Hockey News article this afternoon and thought the notion that Hodgson trains under Gary Roberts in the offseason probably should dispel any real concerns about a bad attitude:

    http://www.thehockey...-in-201213.html

"Not surprisingly, the newest Sabres weapon is also a client of ‘Scary’ Gary and whatever subterfuge has been out there in the past about Hodgson’s attitude can pretty much be tossed out the window based on the company he keeps in the summer. Simply put, Roberts does not mess around. What the former NHLer preaches is no less than a lifestyle decision, where players commit themselves to both rigorous workouts and nutrition rites involving organic food and the right kinds of it."

He ought to drag Myers with him...

  7. That's exactly why it was a good trade in the present. The Sabres got something they might need and gave up something they didn't need. And thanks again for the good read.

I am not convinced of this in bold, but there is no question we are in better shape down the middle.

  8. My girlfriend has 3 kids, two boys from her first marriage and a daughter from her second. The boys dad lives in Hawaii and sends them crap all the time. The girl's dad is totally MIA and has seen her once in the past 4 years (she's 6). No Christmas presents, no birthday cards, nothing. She's the sweetest thing, who absolutely loves my son. On Tuesday the boys got a big box in the mail with all their Christmas presents from Hawaii. In the past their Dad has included a present for the girl, but this year he didn't as he's pissed at my girlfriend for pulling a child support review (dude pays $1800/mo for his house in HI, and complains about paying $200/mo for his boys who he sees once a year). Needless to say, the girl was devastated, as here her brothers have about 6 gifts each from their dad, and she knows that once again her dad doesn't give a ######.

My girlfriend was telling me about how her daughter was flipping out and so upset, so after my hockey game tuesday night, I stopped at the store and spent $15 on a few little "girly" items - some lip gloss, hair bows, new crayons, stuff like that. Got home, wrapped it all up, put it in a box, and made it look all legit with postage and the works, but with no return address or markings to know where it came from.

Last night I stopped by and hid it under a chair on the front porch. The boys were in bed, but the girl was still up, so I told her there was a box outside that came in the mail. She didn't believe me, so she went to check. She comes running back in the house with a box addressed to her and starts flipping out. She begs her mom to let her open the presents, and tears them open before she even gets the "ok." I've never seen a kid more excited to get a few little things. All the while she keeps saying "I knew my daddy wouldn't forget me again!" After everything is opened and she's beaming from ear to ear, my girlfriend is cleaning everything up and goes to throw out the box, but her daughter stopped her and insisted she keep it. Why? She said she "always wanted to remember the day her daddy finally sent her something." At this point my girlfriend is bawling, and wants to tell her the truth, but I wouldn't let her. She doesn't need to know.

So my complaint is about douchebag guys like that who if they'd only take a whopping 10 minutes could make their kid feel like the most important kid in the world. Crap like that just pisses me off to end.

I can't fault the father of the boys. He took care of his kids. It doesn't sound like he's got extra, as it ought to cost a lot more than $1800/month to live in HI.

My complaint is sort of a opposite: A good friend at work's ex-wife got caught cheating on him, yet got custody of the early teenage boys, and alimony. She now lives with her boyfriend and the kids, collecting alimony and child support while he, on a >$120k/year salary, can barely make ends meet because he has a condo in the same town that she moved to. And yeah, he'll be alone for Christmas. The moral of the story - never get a divorce in Massachusetts if you are a guy.

Edit: Oh, I should have mentioned this - that was a beautiful thing for you to do. My hat is off to you.

  9. You'd love Boston driving. If you don't tail someone through an intersection, someone coming the other way WILL try to turn left through that tiny window. It's a scientific fact. All of the things people always complain about with people from Boston, they're all true.

Oh, and after today I'm on vacation until 1/3. Doesn't sound like a complaint, I know. But even with that, I can't stop thinking about what I'm going to do when I get back. I should be thinking about my vacation. Then again, maybe it's not seeing the girlfriend for 11 days... yeah, that's the complaint right there.

    He speaks truth.

  10. I kinda have to laugh at all of you men out there who are complaining about the lack of sleeping space because your wives are expecting. AFAIAC, if the Lord ever blesses my wife and I with a baby, I am going to enjoy every moment of it. We've been waiting long enough as it is.

As someone who has known what is like to want children and not have them, I can tell you it is a wonderful thing to be able to complain about the lack of sleeping area. As someone who lost count of the number of miscarriages somewhere around 10, with the most recent one being the twin of this one, a simple congrats would have sufficed.

  11. Pregnancy Sleeping Sprawl... By 1 am last night I had exactly 11 inches of the bed left to sleep on. I learned years ago never to wake a sleeping pregnant woman, but now my back and neck are a complete mess from the rediculous sleeping position I had to take to fit into the available space. I'm bringing the air mattress in from the garage as an emergency back-up tonight.

I feel your pain. I've got a new rugrat on the way in August.

I've got nothing. I was going to complain that we had a complaint Thursday thread on a day like today, but I have trouble complaining when I did appreciate a post.

  12. They've been pretty much MIA for a little while now. Corp pretty much fell off the face of the earth. I think I remember reading him say something about having a kid, so that would make sense. Blue disappeared early in the offseason too. He threw a little fit about inactivity of the front office then really hasn't said anything since. And then there's knightrider. I haven't seen him around here in a long time now.

The inmates are running the asylum! I'm sure we all already knew that though from reading this place in the last couple weeks.

Hi shrader... I've been really busy at work, especially since January, but I do try to check in when I can. The first thing I do is check reported posts. I haven't seen one, though in a while.

    You're right, though, I haven't posted much.

I didn't want them to do anything. They just haven't posted much in a while and they usually are good parts of the conversation. Ok, maybe I wanted them to ban you, but I've settled with the fact that this will never happen.

    :w00t:

  13. Unless he put out an album that sold over a hundred million copies, I wouldn't bet on it this week.

MJ media saturation and insomnia are my complaints.

    :worthy: :worthy:

I was annoyed he upstaged Farrah the day he died... I just can't believe it is still in the news.

  14. And PA gripes that you didn't bring enough sugar packets.

Do you really need to ask that one?

And now for my gripe, why doesn't a moderator or a thread starter keep me from entering into this discussion over 1 hour into Friday? (Please, somebody save me from myself.)

    Why doesn't Taro T post more? ;)

  15. where is labatt blue -- i thought he had some pull around here? isnt he a MOD or whatever? he is usually festering around here like a fly on #%^$#!. can he get me a new title? this is crap. 4th line...horseshit...

He's usually in bed by now. We Mods talked about it earlier. You're a Fourth Liner. Keep up the posting and maybe you will find yourself bumped up to the third line...

  16. #2. Why is it at Christmastime the world feels the need to empty all mental patients from their institutions and hand them all drivers licenses on the way out?

#3. Why does it take 5+ years (with no end in sight) to work on the stretch of Route 20 between 7 Corners and Camp Road? And why, after that 5+ years of construction, did they (Town of Hamburg, I think, or possibly the County) decided to add more by re-routing Rte 20a (Big Tree Rd.) out of 7 Corners and onto Rte 20, adding 2 more intersections to the mess, all within 100 yards of the 7 Corners intersection?

    1. Complaints about Buffalo traffic. ;)

    2. Verizon. I called in a work order for the downed phone lines due to our little ice storm. They put it on hold since won't work on this stuff till the power gets restored. The repair said to just call back once the power got turned back on. Well I did that, was told that it was in the cue now. I waited a day, and called back since nothing happened to get an idea of the backlog. This rep said it was on hold pending power restoration. :wallbash:

    3. Ice. This was my front yard and driveway.
