  1. Let's not overreact ... it was the same way against Florida last year. They have lost fewer games than anyone in the league, even after tonight ... to say there have been too many nights like this is setting the bar a bit high.

At this point in the season last year, it was the same way against Ottawa. They didn't figure the Sens out till April. Hopefully something similar happens.

To me, the difference is Emery. The game should have been in hand in the first.

  2. (and i really hate to state this, because it does minimize the greatness of the sabres, but its wonderful to have a sabres game or two to pass the time before an honest to god meaningful bills game. come on folks... we've got some serious mojo now)

The Bills haven't played a truly meaningful game since Bruce DeHaven was a coach for the Bills.

    Buffalo:     Florida: :death:

  3.

-The Sabre fans in attendence were AWESOME!!

-He can fight(if that is what you want to call his charade)) all he wants, Peters should still be in the press box(I don't care what Briere said after the game) and Paille on the 4th line. This would allow Lindy to roll 4 lines EVERY GAME! :wallbash:

    GO SABRES!!!

For a game against a one line team, Peters certainly does not hurt. They won by 3...

As for Sabre fans, another team's fans didn't appreciate us... Link

  4. Sorry about the gameday thread. My job has been kicking my butt, so rather than spend 20 minutes on here at 6am, i slept! I'll be back on track soon enough though.

    Slacker!

Personally, I don't see a shutout. TB ought to be up for tonight after the beating they took last time we met.

I see more fights tonight and a 4-2 win.

  5. Marty currently has a GAA of 3.30 and a SV% of .886. That's Bob Essensa numbers

I know stats only tell half the story and some will point out that he saved the game against The Cryers on a 3 on 0 Break. True, he did. But he wouldn't have had to if he hadn't been his usual sieve-self on Umberger's WEAK wrister from the blue line.

Fact is Marty puts teams in trouble, when all that is needed from him is to hold the fort. Nobody is asking him to be spectacular.

Sorry, there is no way this guy starts for anyone in this league, and it's another season with 2 mill. down the tube for a backup on a team that is currently cap strained.

Let me preface this with the fact that I did not see the game last night. I only listened to the second and third. But to me, it sounded like Biron was making the saves in the second and third and was playing much better than he did in Carolina. The third period goal shouldn't not have even counted. The other two were PP goals for the Sens. If you want to complain about Marty, that is fine, but the evidence from last night does not support your argument.

Drury's line is not producing, and hasn't been for a while. Drury, Kotalik, and Novotny are on a three game pointless streak have only one point in the last six games. There is something to talk about.

As for a $2M backup, I see it as a good thing for a contender, and a bad thing for a rebuilding team. Last year's Edmonton, Atlanta and to some extent, Ottawa, are examples why. Atlanta would have had a playoff team if they had depth in goal. Edmonton, well... Ottawa probably would have fared better if they hadn't worn Emery (who I think is pretty solid) out last year.

The Sabres are the best team in the east, and arguably in the NHL right now. That means we will be seeing every team's A-game for the foreseeable future. Ottawa played that way last night, and they still needed Toronto to misunderstand physics to win.
