So much for the PP. Not impressive...
-
If we don't resign McKee this offseason I'm going to lose it.
McKee will probaly take care of his own resignation...
Wow. 22 shots? not good...

For the guys that went to the game and might have missed postgame comments:
Sounds like Connolly could have played tonight if it was the playoffs. Doctor's advice was to let him rest up for a couple games, sounds like he'll most likely be back on Sunday. If Jochen can't go, I hope we toss in Peters for the Ottawa game. I like the idea of having a scrapper in what I would imagine will be a tight, physical game.
But boy, you sure do notice a difference with Timmy and Jochen off the ice. Granted, this was a very different style of game, much tighter and more defensive minded, but it makes a difference not to have a couple of playmakers and finishers out there.
In his post-game comments, Lindy alluded to the fact that he would have preferred to be playing Ottawa with a full club, not down two big parts of the team.
Either way, Saturday can't come fast enough!
The last Ottawa game was the last time Peters dressed, wasn't it?

Just got back from the game. God I hate Leaf fans. There was a lot of them but the 300s totally drowned them out when they did their gay chant.
Very playoff-like atmosphere tonight! I hope Hecht and Conns are OK. We need them in the playoffs
I don't either is that bad off. Timmy skated in practice today, and Lorentz said Hecht wouldn't be out very long...
-
Maybe, just maybe....
Bruins pull through!
Saturday's game just got a little bigger...
-
Well, Miller is going to get his chance to build his confidence.
Miller gets the assist! Drury Scores! 3-1
Buffalo wins 3-1! nice job guys!
-
Miller looks much better tonight...
-
Its very quiet in here tonite. Guess everyone is watching the game....
I'm stuck listening online with a hotel wireless connection that keeps cutting out.
It sounds like Miller is playing better, though I just heard a Toronto PP goal was scored.
I posted a topic earlier about this team, though winning, not playing a full 60 minute game in a very long time.
It sounds that way again tonite...
Been there, done that... <_< Actually, it sounds like they are playing pretty well tonight. Toronto is just playing well, also.
Crap. Drury gets 4 minutes for a high stick...
-
Grier! 2-1!
-
Sabres always start slow they picked it up there in second half. I bet Hecht buries one later in the game to make up for missing that empty net. Anyone see Tucker on that penalty? He grabbed Campbell and then he just fell down. Old legs do that to ya.
Hecht will not return tonight due to a knee injury... <_< Hopefully not too bad... Just said it wasn't too serious...
Sounds like Ryan is sharp. Gotta give Lindy a lot of credit for sticking with him and letting him play his way back. For all the criticism Ruff has taken in the past for a heavy hand when handling his goalies, it seems like this year his touch has been almost perfect.
Tight, low-scoring game. The Sabres will get a lot more out of this than another 6-4 win.
Let's go Buffalo!
Amen to that...
2-0 Bruins!
-
He seemed a little better in the third. Something to build on.
-
Crap, Ottawa tied it up...
-
Max may have gotten the empty net at the buzzer...
Either way, somehow, the Sabres get the win...
Didn't count.. 5-4...
After further review, 6-4!
-
Kotalik Scores! 5-4
-
Roy! 4-4!
-
What are you driving at, Knight?
The Sabres ended up with three second-rounders in 2001, one coming from Tampa along with Chris Gratton in 2000. Not sure how we ended up with the other one. But we got Derek Roy and Jason Pominville in the second round, so that was certainly a nice draft. Do you think we should have kept those other picks?
So far, that draft looks like one of the nicest we've had in a long time. He was on a roll that day... ;)

March 13, 1988
In Vancouver, Ray Sheppard scores a hat trick against goalie Steve Weeks as the Sabres beat the Canucks, 7-5.
March 13, 2001
The Sabres acquire "rental players" Donald Audette from Atlanta for Kamil Piros and a fourth-round pick in 2001 and Steve Heinze from Columbus for a third-round pick in 2001.
The pair does not return for the 2001-2002 season.
Based on the picks he made in 2001, he should have kept the pick...
-
This equation reduces to:
Primeau + Holzinger +Sarich + 4th = Briere + 2nd
F
The thing I'm trying to figure out is did that 2nd round pick end up being Roy, Pominville, or Thorburn?

It'd sure be nice to have 18 guys with 30+ goals and 50+ assists but that's NEVER happened in the history of the game and it never will. Every team needs guys who are willing to grind and do the little things (like killing penalties, facing the other teams number one, etc). The Wings had the grind line (Maltby, Draper, McCarty) when they were winning Cups, the Devils were littered with guys like Marshall, Pandolfo, Stevenson, John Madden, etc. That's just a couple of examples
That's what it takes to be successful and keep your stars fresh for PPs and late game heroics. Mike Grier is a VERY important player to our success.
Kinda weird seeing you with one of the fewest numbers of posts on the board... ;)
He does stand out a little though because so many contribute. Probably 7-10 players will have 40+ points this year, and most of the others either are stay at home d-men or have been hurt for extended periods. But you still make sense. He does his job.
Campy - I just clicked on your signature line. I LOVE IT! A different mix but Tommy Calandra brings back VERY fond memories of my youth. I still have the 45, just nothing to play it on.
I think I've played it 4 or 5 times tonight...
-
Toss the hats! Roy makes it 8-5!
-
so the ladies tell me...
That's not a compliment.
-
Roy has 2 goals, an assist and is a +4 tonight...I think he is ok.
No we should have traded him and Max for....
Nevermind. :)
-
Roy makes it 7-5!
Corp's pretty quick!
-
VANEK!
6-5
[Game Day] Sabres @ Senators 7:00PM
in 2005/2006 Season
Posted
The good news: we cut their shots in the second to half what they had in the first.
The bad news: It was still more than 3 times the number of shots we had...
