  1. Got new granite countertops installed this week. Still struggling to get the plumbing back up and running. When they built this place, they cheaped out and used plastic shutoff valves on the water lines to the faucet. The push/pull type with PEX tubing permanently attached, 1/2” female attachment on the end. Well, that’s pretty useless with current faucets.

Think I need to saw off the plastic ones and replace. Got some shark bite valves that have the correct 3/8” nipple. Problem is, I gotta shut off the water main to do this work, obviously. But I live in a condo, and my main shut off also shuts off water to 7 other units. I’m just going to take my chances tomorrow afternoon and hope everyone is at work.

Scherzer is dealing in the first.

Bet the Nats blow it in the playoffs...

If they even make it! They’re sitting 5.5 games out of the division and 5 back of WC2. Lots of teams between them and the playoffs.

  3. Multiple scenarios exists where not all 3 picks are in 2019, right? If the Sharks miss the playoffs, that pick slides to 2020 (and is unprotected then?).

And if StL really stinks it up (top 10) then that pick also slides to 2020.

Hopefully by midseason we’ll have a solid idea about all three team’s playoff chances. But even still, JBot might have to wait until the next offseason to move any fluid picks. At least if I’m another GM, I want to know.

Other than doing 66 in the left lane, this might be this most Ohio thing ever.

You didn’t even let me get to the part where I dipped it in mustard!

And yes, my 7 minute backroad commute spares me the pleasure of passing people on the right every day.

The Jake is right next to Gund Arena. They're like 100 feet apart.

@EichSnipe what bar? E 4th St has a strip of them if I recall correctly. Last time I was there I think we hit all of them and ended at the Harry Buffalo. That was the last stop before the stadium if memory serves.

Of course, that was 2007 and CC was pitching for the Indian's vs The Twins and Santana.

Yeah, Harry Buffalo is the last stop before Quicken.. I haven’t been there since LeBron’s first Cleveland stint though.

Before Tribe games, I typically head for the bars on E 4th. Today we watched the WC from Corner Alley- that’s right on the corner of E 4th and Euclid. Nice spot! The nachos were underwhelming but the beer selection was good and I had a fantastic everything pretzel.

Disappointed that the Yankees didn’t get to Bauer early when they had the chance.

They have a LeBron banner in the baseball stadium?

Just outside, since the venues are so close!

  6. Heading up to Cleveland for the Yankees game today. I usually sit on the bleachers under the big scoreboard, but I splurged and got viewbox seats on the third base line. Never sat there before at Progressive.

Heading up early to catch the WC final at a bar. I guess I’m rooting for Croatia?

Also, to put a bow on this “other sports” post.. it’ll be the first time I’ve ever been to Cleveland without the LeBron banner up. I’m curious what they replaced it with, if anything.

I think Bobby Hull and Maurice Richard did it? Richard even went from 15 to 9 like Jack. Johnny Gaudreau, Getzlaf, Perry all did it too, though that was only for a season as young guys, presumably in a Rip-like tradition.

There's another recent good player that did it but I can't put my finger on who it was.

Arvidsson switched from 38 (2 seasons plus his cup of coffee season) to 33 (last year). Thinking of him?

Speaking of numbers...….  does anyone know why Mittlestadt wears #37?  Was it a Rip Special or did he chose it?

Casey chose it. He said something to the extent of, “I’ve worn 11, 20, 21, 22. All taken with the Sabres. So my buddies and I were asking what number I should wear and I settled on 37.”

Sounds like no special reason. I wish he would go to 22 since Larry is likely gone.

    Found the actual quote:

    Interview with Pekar.

I love it. When asked about the physicality with Dahlin, there was a twinkle in his eye, which reminds me of a trait in some of the best pests in the NHL comparing them to wrestling a pig: "You both get muddy, but the pig likes it."

I met a pot belly pig today while getting ice cream. A couple was walking it through town just like a dog. It joyfully gobbled up some sprinkles from the sidewalk.

  10. Casey Nelson’s numbers weren’t eye popping last year, but he definitely looked like he belonged, even on the second pair. There’s a chance that Dahlin and (appropriately used) Risto show us what real NHL defensemen look like, and Casey looks like AHL fodder once more.

If that’s our biggest disappointment, we’re in for a nice season!

If I had to pick a worst-case scenario, it’s that Hutton/Ullmark combine to be a bottom 5 pairing like we had last year. But I don’t foresee it.

What's to stop people from using one jersey and just passing it around so all their friends can get the discount? The honor system?

Man, I don’t know.. both of my Eichel jerseys are white. I have some friends that i wouldn’t trust with a white jersey ?

  12. At first I was bummed.. I wanted Eichel to own 15 and raise it to the rafters some day.

But if he's good enough to raise a number to the rafters, I really don't give a #### which number it is!

9 is cool. And like others said, any #15 jerseys will be retro. If he leads us to the promise land, you can prove you were around well before the glory. No bandwagon Jack fans here ?

I like the like feature, but it's a little clunky. If I'm sad or confused at the post, that's still a like? And it adds to the poster's "rep"? Can the options go — you just click on the thumbs up and that's it?

My understanding is that only like (thumbs up) and thanks (trophy) count towards the rep. I added a “confused” for your post and nothing went up.

Where's Wilson? He is surely going to be on the opening night roster.

Hmmm you’re right. I overlooked him since he was stapled to ROR last year and now that line is scrapped.

I had Baptiste out of position on the left side. If one of the young RW makes the team, maybe Pominville rides the pine? We have an oddly full roster if we want to run out some young guys.

Or maybe Reinhart does move back to C, opening up another wing spot and bumping Girgy to the wayside
