  1. I've been trying to get better at my distance drives but I just can't seem to throw consistently. I was starting to get comfortable with a basic Valkyrie and then I lost it. I'm not as good with my Champion Valkyrie. Never had good luck with Beasts.

I always have to go back to my Leopards and reset.

I lost my favorite disk last year and I've been kinda lost ever since.

    I need a coach

My distance drives are just awful. Then last year I fell in love with a short course here where I only use midrange and putters. So I haven’t improved any haha. I also need a coach. Or several spare hours, a stockpile of drivers, and a large field.

  2. Lost a driver today disc golfing. I was just getting it broken in too. Lame.

My favorite driver ever was actually one that I found on a course. No name or phone number, so I started tossing it myself. Absolutely loved it. It played to my (terrible) slice perfectly. Got a solid 3 sessions out of it.

Then I threw it into a pond.

  3. Jack’s position got me thinking about McDavid’s position on the PP. I think he plays a similar role to Jack, on his off-wing half wall. But obviously with less of an emphasis on one-timers. And I tend to see McDavid creep up closer to the goal line than Jack usually stays.

Anyways, McDavid was something like 60th in PPP last year. Everyone on our PP1 outscored him. Imagine if he added another 10-15 points with the man advantage. Sheesh!

  4. It's pretty spot on for market value. These UFA deals are always a risk.

Man, I just don't know.. He's only hit 50 points twice in his career. Yeah, he's been injured... But if you project his PPG over an 82 game season, he's still just a 50 point player. 7x7 seems like a lot. Marchand just signed a 8x6.125 deal last offseason.

I guess Washington overpaying Oshie upped the market for wingers.

  5. Kane has never had a season worth $7M in his career. And based on his playing style and injury history, I'm not comfortable assuming he'll become that player and betting 7 years on it.

In the 3 years prior to signing his deal, Okposo played 210 games and posted 67 - 117 - 184. He was coming off his age-27 season.

In Kane's last 3 years with us and SJ, he has played 213 games and posted 77 - 55 - 132. He is coming off his age-26 season.

We know how the Okposo deal is working out... I'm pumped SJ gave him this contract. Hopefully it contributes to their demise and we land a solid pick. And I really liked Kane and enjoyed his time here. I just think it's ludicrous to give him that contract.

  6. Columbus got hosed with some awful NMCs. They had to protect Dubinsky and Scott Hartnell. That left Josh Anderson exposed. And they were so concerned with losing him that they paid a first rounder to have Vegas take Karlsson and Clarkson's contract.

Hindsight is 20-20. Josh Anderson was not 20-20. He put up 19-11-30 this year. You all know what Karlsson did! And Vegas used that 1st rounder (24th) in a deal with Winnipeg to move up and take Nick Suzuki, currently their top-ranked prospect.

    All of that: OUCH

  7. I think Sheary is a great JBot comparable to Danny O'Regan. Guentzel also fits the mold a little (great college career, immediate success in AHL, graduation to NHL) but was a better prospect and has found more success than I ever expect Danny to find.

    O'Regan

    4 years college: 1.00 PPG

    2 years AHL: 0.875 PPG

Cup of coffee in NHL at age 23: 0.21 PPG (24 games)

    Full NHL duty: age 24???

    Sheary

    4 years college: 0.77 PPG

    2 years AHL: 0.90 PPG

Cup of coffee in NHL at age 23: 0.22 PPG (44 games)

    Full NHL duty: age 24

Sheary's production dropped in half this year when he was moved away from Crosby (duh). But he still would have ranked in our top 6 forwards in terms of points. If we can find that kind of production out of O'Regan, that's not a write-off. That's middle six scoring that we desperately need.

  8. Wow, I missed those pics back in April. Really neat!!

Came here to post that I bought my wife a bike for her birthday. The pup also got her a birthday present- a doggy trailer to tow behind my bike so she can join us on rides. It’ll obviously be more recreational than hardcore fitness, but hey, I broke a sweat the first time we used it :P

  9. I actually had an EKG done this week. Pretty sure I pulled a muscle in my chest, where the rib connects to the breast bone. Don’t ask me how... maybe it was ping pong? Anyways, it was an odd pain and my insurance covered everything but the $10 copay, so I got an EKG and chest X-rays to rule out everything. I’m healthy, or so they say, and I’m playing ping pong through the pain :P

Since this is the House thread, here’s my good news. I own a condo in a quickly growing neighborhood. My opposite end-unit (aka the absolute best comp for my place) just sold for $24K more than I paid 6 months ago. If only we can keep up that ROI until I sell in 5 years...

  10. Maybe I’m unique, but baseball is perfectly suited for my (insert millennial stereotype) attention span. While I have a game on, I’ll also be:

•talking to my wife about her day

•online shopping for my wife’s birthday present because oh that’s sneaking up

•looking at my phone to see what you hooligans say

•getting up to grab a snack

•tossing a toy for my dog to fetch

    •flipping through a magazine

And I don’t miss anything because of the downtime between action. It’s perfectly enjoyable. You get up to use the bathroom during a hockey game, BOOM you missed two goals and then zero goals are scored the 58 minutes you do watch.

Baseball on TV is a calm, relaxing, summertime night.

  11. I was looking for a reason to stop posting here. Thank you.

I mean, your post above mine had more hashtags than twitter.. I might not be your reason

But in all reality, I’m sure they’ll duke it out all season and it’ll be an epic division battle. You can make fun of Boone for wearing his letterman jacket when it’s 80 degrees. I’ll make fun of Cora for turning to his closer way too early. It’ll even out ;)

  12. Mine was also Briere back as a kid. Didn’t really have a true favorite until Jack came along. Now it is far and away Eichel. Love that he’s a US-born star and played college hockey. His electric shot doesn’t hurt either. I also genuinely think he’s a good dude (some of his charitable work and public appearances appear authentic and touching). And Josie creates cool pictures of him :D

Although I will second that Afinogenov was always a favorite to watch.

Oh, and I’m named after #89. In case you were wondering how my father would answer...

  13. Illegal in NY.

And I think most of those folks talk tough, but when it comes right down to it, you've got to be a bit of a sociopath to shoot someone stealing trinkets.

I don’t think it’s illegal here in OH. Certainly doesn’t mean it’s best practice, though.
