  1. Sorry if I'm working out and that song comes on, the workout is over. Gimme some old school metal, some 90s alternative, 2000's Nu metal, pre 2010 hip hop. That song makes me want to pee in someone's cheerios.

What music do you play when you uber? I’m always interested in the different genres I hear. And of course there are plenty of no-music drivers.

  2. My wife and I saw the most beautiful crescent moon last night.  It was very low over the trees when she first saw it, so no pics.

    It was amazing.

We are now a few days less that 2 moon cycles away from the start of Ramadan.

I / we look forward to it every year and it should be every Muslim's favourite month, but I am really looking forward to Ramadan this year even more than others in the past.

Any particular reason? (if you don't mind a curious friend asking :) )

  3. Dylan Strome called up for the Yotes.

    Ouch.

Strome is 30th in games played (18) for his draft year. A year that included: McDavid, Eichel, Marner, Hanifin, Proverov, Werenski, Rantanen, Aho, Boesser, Connor, Barzal.

I'm still hoping for good things for him in the desert. But man, they deserved Eichel. Or Matthews if his birthday came a wee bit earlier.

  4. Anyone have any experience with GoPro filming? I'm toying with the idea of recording some of my skiing adventures. Perhaps even some hockey too. I found what appears to be an incredibly cheap deal on eBay for a hero 3 white and was wondering if it would be at all worth it.

Others can probably be more helpful here- I have borrowed my in-laws GoPro a couple times but only dabbled with quick footage. Main reason: the battery life is horrendous. I don't know if they just got a lemon, or the battery issue is rampant. But I would suggest you invest in backup batteries. Nothing worse than missing your footage because you're already up on the mountain when "low-battery" starts flashing.

  5. My company HQ are in Los Angeles. I uber everywhere when I go out there. For just a couple days it is cheaper and less hassle than renting a car. Also, who wants to drive in LA traffic??

It seems that uber fairs are the same there as they are in Columbus. The cost of living, however, most certainly is not the same as Columbus. I’m assuming uber doesn’t adjust their rates based on location.

So that makes me wonder... If Ink exclusively drives during surge pricing just to scrape up some bonus cash, what the hell are these drivers in LA getting out of it? It has to be between jobs to make ends meet, I guess?

  6. Food for thought...

Browns tried to trade a 2nd and 3rd round pick for McCarron. They only gave up a third to get Tyrod. Contract obviously comes into play in these valuations. But still, interesting how things came full circle.

Browns wanted McCarron. Their execs celebrated the agreement like it was their first win in 2 years (oh wait...) and didn't put the call in in time. They later got Tyrod instead. McCarron comes to Buffalo to replace Tyrod... Full circle, people. Full circle around the wagons ;)

  7. Shady and Tyrod are really close. Swapping Tyrod for McCarron could motivate that tweet from Shady. But who knows. I don’t read too much into athlete tweets because it’s all cryptic and emotional.

Edit to add: people on Twitter think he’s talking about Bell

  8. Think this is a Hughes replacement?

I've been told the #Bills' signing of FA DE Trent Murphy does not impact the status of Jerry Hughes whatsoever.

To answer the questions that have followed my tweet about Jerry Hughes staying put with Trent Murphy addition, the same goes for Shaq Lawson. #Bills want as much DE depth as possible.

  9. I have no idea how this bracket thingie works, but how were they in the play in game and ended up winning into the East Regional as the 11 seed?

"Last four in" doesn't necessarily mean "worst four to make it." St. Bonaventure got an at-large bid. Lots of other schools get the automatic bid by winning their mid-major conference. But they're worse than St. Bonaventure, Cuse, ASU, UCLA, etc. Which means they are rightfully seeded lower. The Bonnies were one of the last 4 at-large bids.

There might be a better way to explain that. But that's what I've got!

  10. Yay Bulls beat toledo for the Mac title

Dancing 3 of the past 4 years.. Go Bulls!

I have no hard feelings for Hurley. Good for him to move on up when he did. But ASU hasn’t made the tourney yet under his watch. They’re a bubble team today. Makes me feel pretty good about Oats.

  11. Another bottleneck would be the technology gap. My grandma hasn't driven in 15 years and could certainly use a service like this. But she also has never held a smartphone. Her knowledge of the internet doesn't span beyond Facebook, which she calls "Spacebook." She's not summoning a ride on her phone like we are. She would need someone else to do it for her, or have a call-in service.

  12. The market for accessibility/senior ride sharing services has got to be huge.

Agreed, it seems like a big opportunity. Uber would just have to come up with a list of acceptable vehicles. They assuredly already have enough drivers whose vehicles are eligible. It's not even like they need to add any new drivers. The "infrastructure" already exists. They just would need to market it. And probably not even to the elderly that would use it. Market it to their kids that are otherwise transporting them. They already know and trust Uber. Let them convince their parents instead of launching a daytime TV marketing campaign!!

  13. The biggest problem I see is that the typical aging boomer that would need this service is mobility restricted and needs to have a vehicle that is easy to enter/exit.

But I am sure there is a fix to that problem.

My grandparents sure could have used Uber if only they trusted strangers enough to try it.

Uber already has all the different ride types: UberX (normal), UberXL (6+ passengers), Uber Select (luxury vehicles), Uber Black (what are you, secret service?)

The company has lists of approved vehicles for each category. They could vet vehicles and put together a list of approved, accessible vehicles. UberSenior? UberAccessible?

That's actually a really, really cool idea.
