  1. Contract tracing does not necessarily have anything to do with cell phone data. In some cases, in some places it is being done using cell phone data now. It is often done by interviewing to gather info about all the places where someone went during a given time period. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2020/03/10/814129534/how-the-painstaking-work-of-contact-tracing-can-slow-the-spread-of-an-outbreak
  2. I went with Fedorov because he was a great all around player. He could truly do it all. I have to put Alexander the Great just behind him though, and if Ovechkin can keep up this ridiculous level of play for his age a while longer, he’ll no doubt finish his career #1.
  3. Yeah, I don’t know if it will actually happen, but it’s probably their thought process.
  4. Maybe they think they might be having playoff games in late June and don’t want the draft to be during the playoffs.
  5. So that they can get the draft scheduled and over. Otherwise they may be scrambling to organize and complete it before the 2020-21 season, if they were to complete playoffs in September or something. Better to just do it ASAP I guess.
  6. Interesting. I have no problem with them having the draft in June. I don’t totally understand the reasoning for the draft lottery change though. It would mean that only Detroit, Ottawa, LA, and Anaheim have a shot at #1. Unless they are going with that weird 24 team playoff thing. Actually, that’s probably what it is. 24 teams are going to be in the playoffs, so they only want the very bottom teams in the lottery.
  7. True. Dominate is a subjective term, but I agree with you. I was just giving background information.
  8. He played a partial season in the USHL and was very productive. He was very good for the USA Junior team at both the U18 and U20 level. I agree that he hasn’t been quick enough or strong enough on the puck to play his game at the NHL level. I don’t know that he is lazy, but I do think he needs to improve his body and probably adjust his game.
  9. Agree. I’m fully prepared for them to give Reinhart a nice contract, then start playing him with 3rd liners next season.
  10. That was TMs best trade. I liked that one but would have held off on some of the others.
  11. Oh yeah, probably. But the point is that there is flexibility to make moves.
  12. Eichel, Skinner, Okposo, Johansson (just 1 yr remaining), Risto, Miller, McCabe (just 1 yr remaining), Dahlin Jokiharju, Hutton (just 1 yr remaining) Just 10 NHL players under contract, three of which have just one year remaining. That’s as close to a clean slate as you can get in the NHL.
  13. Yeah, I don’t think they were trying to be bad though. The team is set up to have maximum roster flexibility this offseason though. I feel that, with this nearly blank slate, if the team is not a playoff team next season there is absolutely zero excuse. Everyone should be fired, including Sidney the dog.
  14. I think it was originally part of the plan to have not a lot of players under contract, cap space and roster flexibility this offseason because it was supposed to be the expansion draft. The Sabres would have been set up pretty sweet for it, but that got blown to heck when they pushed it back a year.
  15. Didn’t Krueger state that this was happening during the season? Didn’t he matter of factly state that he wanted defense to be a focus for Dahlin and that it would reduce is offensive production?
  16. Just read it. It’s not that long.
  17. He is 24. Older than Eichel and only 2 months younger than Reinhart. Might be good in Rochester, but I wouldn’t look for him to have an NHL future.
  18. In general I like Chad, and think that he has interesting things to say, but I agree. Very clickbait.
  19. I don’t have numbers in front of me, but it’s pretty well established that carrying the puck in is more likely to lead to sustained offensive zone possession. Now, carrying the puck in is not always feasible and sometimes you just have to dump it in, but its much better to design a “system” with the goal of carrying it in as much as possible.
  20. No idea. The tweet in the OP says it though. He writes articles about the Buffalo Sabres and post them on websites. Call it what you want I suppose.
  21. DUDES. He said “more on this tomorrow”. He is writer. He is teasing his story so that people will go read it. Maybe we will find out today. Then you can decide whether it’s trash or not.
  22. Haha, agree, but there are so many completely valid avenues for slamming the Buffalo Sabres without having to bend the “truth” like that. Doomed for many reasons, but the 2020-21 cap situation isn’t really one of them.
  23. Larsson at $3.1 is a bargain compared to Reinhart at $8.7. That’s crazyness. Highest prediction I’ve seen for Sam.
  24. I can’t read the article. Dang! That a Reinhart projection is terrible! He isn’t getting that. No way! I think that is about $2M high. The rest seem pretty close, depending on term. Some maybe just a tad high (~$0.5M), but reasonable. With contract projections like these, no wonder his article paints a cap doom picture. It’s not nearly that bad in reality.
