I would think Buffalo should be able to get a late first for Hall, and a 2nd-3rd for Staal. However, Buffalo would probably need to retain the max 50% and or take back some 1 year deadweight salary in either case.

You don’t need to trade all of the players that he listed out. It’s just an acknowledgment that they are tradable. The option exists. There is an ability to make whatever change is needed in order to get this team on the right track. No excuses.
-
I hope they don’t rush up prospects next year. They didn’t do that this season. I guess we’ll see.
-
While I agree that the team will not be relocated, there is absolutely no chance that the NHL folds a team. They would certainly move them first. Thanks for the advice regarding the garlic.
-
Yeah, G and C. Just as a rule of thumb, should on average take, one C in round 1-3, one D in round 2-4 and a goalie somewhere almost every year.
-
Ok, If you are only talking about prospects added in the past 6 months, then yes, they have not added to the C pipeline.
-
Yeah, I agree. They just need the right person in charge of hockey decisions. My question is, will they actually put that person in control and let them do their job? The last person they hired for GM is without adequate qualifications and experience. He was brought in because he was know and trusted. Does this seem like the correct hiring strategy? It seems that the Pegulas are 0/2 on GM hires and 0/5 on coaching hires. I don’t have a lot of faith that 3rd time or 6th is the charm. It’s cool that the Bills are doing well, but I’m not concerned with them. The NFL is a different animal. Pegula made a bad hire of Ryan before hiring a good coach, who then helped bring in a good GM. So I guess he is 1/2 with the Bills. Now, if the recent rumor that they are looking for help running the team results in them bringing in someone with experience and success to a high level position, it could signal that they realize the need to take a step back and give up some control to people who know better. That would make me slightly more optimistic.
-
I understand where you are coming from, but all Pegula’s money has not helped the team one bit. His time as owner has turned the Sabres from a respectable organization into a true laughingstock, in spite off his spending. $10,000 spent wisely can accomplish a lot more than $20,000 spent foolishly.
-
They drafted 1st round C’s in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2019. I would not say they have been negligent in that regard.
-
Who is your least favorite non-Pegula since the Pegulas took over?
Curt replied to Randall Flagg's topic in The Aud Club
Trick question. It’s the Pegulas. It all comes back to the Pegulas. -
I wouldn’t trade Miller. Just keep him. He’s under contract for another year. Unless you can make a really good deal on him.
-
He might not be the 2nd best either, lol.
-
I don’t think I would even take him 1st overall. And I don’t think I would want him in the NHL next season. He has a high upside but he is pretty raw. Also, he is really big, but not actually very physical. No mean streak there. Also, this should just be in the 2021 Draft thread.
-
It’s not a question. They aren’t tanking. Tanking is trying to make the team worst in the league on purpose. They aren’t doing that.
-
It’s just not information or news. Especially since we don’t even know who said it.
-
Really? I wish more of them showed to the rink!
-
Who are these “quotes” from??? Also, these quotes don’t say anything. -Eichel just wants to get back playing and all the trade speculation is just people speculating? No kidding! -Eichel doesn’t want to be hurt and missing games? No way!
-
Zero chance that I feel “hope” with the group that’s currently in place. They need to change something big.
-
Right, and never a HC at a lower level even. I have no appetite for lottery ticket head coaches any longer.
-
I would think that Eichel probably waits one more year, and until after his NMC kicks in before he would actually demand a trade. Doesn’t mean he won’t be traded though. Reinhart could also definitely get traded, especially if he seems intent on going to arbitration and walking to UFA after next season. These guys leaving in such a way would certainly be a low point for the franchise, but honestly I’m not sure it can actually get much lower than it is right now. It could also be something of a new beginning, bringing forth the new hope that comes with it.

Kerfoot and Compher are reasonable suggestions. I’ll throw some other names out there. These are established NHLers who maybe could play a larger role on a different team. Philip Danault Tyson Jost Roope Hintz Jack Roslovic Anthony Beauvillier Ryan Donato Kevin Lebanc Adam Gaudette Mason Appleton Andrew Copp Jakob Vrana Alex Tuch
-
Sounds like this could be the season for Eichel. Maybe if he recovers faster than normal he gets in a few games at the end. It’s crazy to think about, but there is a non-zero chance that we have already seen his last game as a Sabre.
-
Hmm. He certainly embodies the type of attitude I would like to see from this team, but can he coach?
-
Yes, teams should draft a goalie almost every year, or at least 3/4 years. I agree with this, but the Sabres have drafted quite a lot of goalies. That’s why there is Ullmark, Cal Peterson (who they lost), Johansson, UPL, and Portillo. If they hadn’t lost Peterson, the goalie situation would look like excellent.

Ralph says Team needs to Physically Respond Against Pittsburgh
Curt replied to Fallsnative01's topic in The Aud Club
Super gross. I don’t want to hear about who you used to ***** to. I shouldn’t be subjected to this cruel and unusual punishment. It’s bad enough that I watch Sabres games.
