    I was thinking about it this morning. What if the plan is to keep this group intact for as long as possible until you make trades for picks and prospects. The new system is going to be 10x easier to learn in Rochester than it is up in Buffalo and you'll have hungry guys that understand their assignments and can be where your stars need them to be. Almost like a half season mini-rebuild. The team can come together and move forward until your top line talent is ready to move up next year (Nylander, Asplund, Casey) By then you have a few great ELCs that understand the new system, can play it, and are out from underneath your albatross contracts like Moulson and Gorges and can stack some serious talent for a year or two for a deep run.

    Damn, that's ugly. Well I've already given up hope for a win on this trip and instead looking at individual player progression. So far we have Eichel, Kane, Girgs, and Pominville awake and playing. I'm hoping Risto and ROR wake up. Who knows, maybe even Samson!

    I dunno, maybe he does need his older brother around to keep him mentally level. Or maybe it's his diet finally catching up with him and he just doesn't have the gas. Either way it's kinda scary how fast of a drop off he's had.

    I actually forgot about Girgs for a second. So Eichel and Girgs woke up. He was in beast mode working to create opportunities for his line.

    I agree. He showed a few flashes but that is still not the ROR of the past few years. Something is definitely wrong there.

    They were just as disengaged as the last 2 games but Eichel woke up. Maybe we get one player back per game. So now we have Eichel and Kane. Who's next?

    Ever since he was traded to this team I have loved this guy. Every shift was 100% effort, and his 2 way skill was amazing. He would win most battles for the puck and could strip the puck off almost anyone in the league. The biggest thing we heard about him prior to the trades was how he made everyone around him better. He was my pick along with many others to be the captain despite the fact that Eichel would be the face of the franchise. My biggest concern is that DD played him too many minutes and would wear him down. Now he looks completely disengaged and uninterested. He rarely even attempts to strip the puck off an opponent. His line looks completely lost. The only part of his game that seems to be intact is his face off %. What happened to him? Is he hiding an injury? Did 2 years of working for DD wear his body down? Is being a vegan having an effect? Is there some sort of family issue going on? Is it conditioning issues? Its scary to see such an admired player do a complete 180°. What happened to him?

    Waiting for the inevitable excuses of us not being cup contenders yet, new system, good teams have had bad starts, blah, blah, blah... Because you're not allowed to be upset if your team comes out and looks like an AHL squad at best. Not allowed to be upset when your vets look like they are showing no effort. This fan base has been abused and taken advantage of so long that they make constant excuses for it like some domestic abuse victim that refuses to leave. He only hit you cause he loves you, right?

    Say what you want about Gorges, but how many times did he fail to cover the passer on a 2 on 1? How many short handed goals was he directly responsible for?
