Welcome to the return of the Oilers/Flames rivalry!
-
Couldn't you then say the Sabres lost the lottery because they "tanked"?
-
Why would anything regarding the lottery be different?
-
Wow, the WGR guys are almost in tears. Welcome Jack Eichel! Now it's up to Tim Murray to get to work and fill out the rest of this future Stanley Cup Champion. Go Sabres!
-
9 more points and the Sabres would have drafted 1st.
-
If the Sabres don't win the lottery I hope Dallas does. The multiple 'Lindy is ruining McDavid" threads will be very entertaining.
-
You were saying about not knowing how to read?
-
See, was it that hard? You have to now compare that list to how many teams will be in the market for goalies. I hope the Sabres are aggressive in the goaltending marker this off-season. I'd like to see some type of stability as the franchise moves forward.
-
Ward is about taking a flyer on him and hoping it pays off. He should come cheap. If he were playing well then he likely wouldn't be available or at the very least be more expensive.
-
Wow it took you this long to say something reasonable! I knew you had it in you. Not wanting to overpay for one position is a reasonable concern. Many Bills fans feel the same way about the money spent on the D-line. Next time lead with you best and leave all the other BS out of your posts. They are not equal which means I wouldn't treat their trade values as equals. I would bring Lucic in because we are going to have a young stud center that can use a man beast patrolling his wing as a deterrent. A Deterrent that can also play the game. If I were to trade "McEichel" than I have no use for Lucic at this time. It's about building a team fitting different pieces together and taking advantage of opportunities when they come along. There is a long list of quality players that ended up moving because the Sabres where in no position to make a move on them. If Lucic did become available I would hate for the Sabres to miss out on another quality player.
-
Miller might be available? How about a goalie with a Stanley Cup? Crawford or Ward?
-
More great insight. I had no idea how rampant the post-Nov 12th, 2011 concussion-syndrome still is in Sabres Nation.
-
Lucic and O"Reilly are completely different players with Lucic being far and away the better overall player. That means offensively, defensively, toughness, physicality and probably plays a better goal.
-
It's always a gamble to let players hit free agency. I prefer working a deal with Boston and trying to work deal with Lucic without 28 other teams ringing his agents phone off the hook. So, you think McEichel and Reinhart are of equal value?
-
What are the better answers? So, you don't have an answer? If there are better options available to the Sabres, lets here them?
-
Why use multiple players to re-create what one player can do? That seems like a very inefficient way of building a team. It all goes back to potential vs established. If you want to bank on Reinhart ending up having more impact than an established NHL player than don't make the deal. I'll always value a NHL resume more than juniors or college.
-
The Sabres don't have a Krejci or anything close to deal. Even though, Lucic still produced offensively and was physical. At 26 I'm not going to worry about one perceived down year. Can't argue with this kind of logic. This type of insight with Lgr's ability to evaluate talent, you guys might have the makings of a successful internet show. :w00t:

Lucic is an impact player far beyond a simple role player. Quality doesn't come for free. You want impact you're going to have to pay the price. It would be nice to have established roster players to move, the Sabres just have no value over the age of 22 outside of the former Jets to deal.

Being a Red Sox fan since I was 10 I will say winning that World Series in 2004 did wash away Bill Buckner, Buck Dent and every other past failure. A Super Bowl would wash away Norwood's kick and a Stanley Cup would wash away Hull's foot and all other failures. "Desire" for a championship is only overblown until you win one and you realize the freedom it brings. It's like sex, when you're a virgin Sex seems overblown and not a big deal, when you have sex you then realize that it's the greatest thing on earth. Successful re-build = Stanley Cup. As a sports fan there is nothing I want more than a Sabres Stanley Cup victory. I'd take one Stanley Cup over multiple Super Bowl victories.

Price is going to be difficult. I doubt Boston is going into full rebuild mold looking for picks and prospects. They'll be looking for NHL players in return. The Sabres are whoa-fully short on quality NHL players at the moment. If they are interested in picks and prospects? Pretty much all assets except this years top pick, Girgensons and Risto are in play. If I can get Lucic signed long term I would gladly give-up a package built around Reinhart and #1's. I would need to be able to talk to Lucic before a deal is completed, a rental player, no matter who it is , just doesn't make sense for the Sabres at this point.
-
He still produced and was physical. I wouldn't be concerned about this season until it becomes a pattern.
-
I can come up with 10 better players. Unfortunately, none of them are likely to be available anytime soon. Lucic is the #1 big man in he NHL. 107 differential, I can see why you would need +/- to be pointless.
-
+94 -13 You figure it out.

Wasn't Leino a "great possession player?" I'll take the 6' 3" 235 lb bull charging into the offensive zone wearing out the D.
