I voted Top 6 out of hope more than anything else. At this point in the rebuild my hopes are higher than Jochen Hecht. Hecht was a nice role player, right now I want the Sabres to hit home runs with their prospects, not singles and doubles.

Connolly's biggest problem was that he was not prepared for the NHL game. He had the talent, he needed a good 2-3 years in the AHL to develop his instincts and get a feel for the speed of the game. IMO, given time to develop he would be a productive NHL player today. He just wasn't prepared and it cost him.

I would have to think they do see the writing on the wall. Ownership should make it clear to both that at least one will not be playng for the Sharks in 2015-16 even if it means an outright release.

San Jose is a franhcise that needs more of a reboot than a rebuild. I'd keep the coach and move out Marleau and Thornton as you said. San Jose looks like a situation that can be fixed quickly.

Thanks, I just took a look. I knew it. That means that the black van down the street really is my health insurance company spying on me to make sure i didn't lie about not being a smoker just to get the $25 discount. It all makes sense now.

If the Sabres did trade picks with Edmonton than LabattBlue wouldn't have to worry about landing if he jumped off the ledge. He would have the mangled bodies of the USA Hockey and Harbor Center executives to land on. I know we have a fair share of conspiracy theorists around these parts so I am going to throw one out there. Pegula and the Sabres went to the NHL and said they didn't want to win the draft lottery. They want Eichel but don't want to be the team that passed on McDavid. Guaranteed the 2nd pick and Eichel, Pegula and the NHL agreed to ship McDavid to the other side of the NHL, Edmonton. Pegula didn't want the Leafs or Regier to have McDavid so Edmonton was the obvious choice. Seems realistic to me.
-
Look at it this way. Is Terry Pegula, a man who has invested what, $100+ Million dollars (not to mention the Harbor Center) in USA & College Hockey really going to pass on the best US Born college player in decades for a product of the Canadian juniors system? Think about it for a while.

Jump my brother and feel the freedom. The ledge you are on is 40+ years of Sabre failures. Free yourself and the hockey gods will reward with a savior named Jack Eichel and his apostles Sam Reinhart, Rasmus Ristolainen, Zemgus Girgensons, Evander Kane, Zach Bogosian and others soon to follow. It is not death that awaits you beyond this ledge. It is life free of the chains of the past. Freedom to pursue the future and a freedom to look upon the past with reverence not regret.

I don't wan to put a damper on anyone's day, but, we're going to get Jack Eichel. 16 hours and 45 minutes later and I am still pretty excited about. I may buy my first Sabres jersey, not off the clearance rack, in a long long time. My last "new" Sabres jersey had Fuhr sewn on the back.

Connor didn't look too thrilled about it being Edmonton

I sat next to the barber of the cousin of the gardener who knew a guy that worked at Dairy Queen that once made a Oreo Blizzard for a guy who knew a guy that knew the McDavid family and they say he's fine with going to Edmonton. Who to believe. -
I hope you are not surprised by any of this. Even if the Sabres would have won the draft lottery there would be complaints. It's what this fan base does best. Why is giving one of the worst teams in the league a chance at McDavid automatically fair? It's not fair to McDavid. It's not fair to the NHL? And it's not fair to fans outside of the team that drafts him? Lottery in it's self is not "fair." Wouldn't "fair" be eliminating the draft all together? There's nothing fair about any draft, you want fair then make every draft eligible kid a free agent. That's fair.

Kill-Fu@k-Marry? Anne Murray-Avril Levigne-Alanis Morissette.

Makes more sense to move current Oilers to help build around McDavid.

Fans will always find the great players.
-
Peyton Manning plays in the same time zone.
-
Edmonton is only two hours behind the East. The Kings are 3 hours and it hasn't been an issue. It's 2015, the world does not revolve around the eastern time zone and the 8 pm start time.
-
In another 8 or 9 years the Oilers are going to have some real cap problems. :flirt:
-
History will determine who the best players from the 2014 & 2015 drafts are, not pre-draft rankings. I don't see why McDavid to Edmonton is bad for the NHL. This isn't 1978 with the only games available being Hockey Night in Canada. The kid will get plenty of exposure and the saving of the franchise Gretzky made famous is a natural story line.

Deal! Just don't let it be Eleven.
-
Oilers could trade the #1 pick to Boston for Lucic? Just kidding! This is a great day for the Sabres Nation, we are getting a great talent.
-
It's easier to just blame the Hockey Gods.

Is it too much to dream that Tim Murray can take a run at Phoenix's #3 pick? Darcy does love himself some Cody Hodgson?
