  1. Nothing wrong with driving to the Grand Canyon and enjoying the ride. 35 times the Sabres have trailed going into the third period. Not a good number no matter how you look at it. Here is one thing to take away from it. 37%. 37% of the time the Sabres came back and tied the game. They won six, lost three in OT and 4 times they tied the game to end up losing the game. That's a decent stat to build some positivity on. You add in games they trailed by a couple of goals and made it a one goal game. This team has some comeback kids in them. I hope it's a trend that continues during the rebuilding of the franchise.
  2. This team has trailed going into the 3rd period this season 35 times and won 6, tied for fourth most in the NHL. Last season they trailed going into the 3rd 42 times and won only 3 times, tied for 19th. It's just one stat in a league of many stats, another sign the franchise is in good hands going in the right direction.
  3. The number is from a 1993 phone survey by a professor at Florida State University at Tallehasse. http://rense.com/general76/univ.htm Here is an actual number, YTD, out of 9,655 gun related incidents, 293 have been verified as defensive use. That is what? 3% BTW, 3 more children have been injured in gun violence, the YTD total is 108.0
  4. This just goes to show that you and many others who feel this way just don't get it. Where do the criminals get their firearms? When you have the over-saturation of firearms that we have in this country it is easier than ever to get a firearm. You can even order one online. When a bullet enters a child's body, does it matter if that bullet was purchased legally?
  5. it's March 12th. there have been 2,395 gun related deaths in this country and in 1 day the total of children under the age of 11 injured/killed by firearms is now 105. So, please, tell me again how guns are well regulated "and then some." Sorry, if you don't find 105 children gunned down in 72 days important enough for a debate. I believe we all know the fundamental differences between alcohol and firearms and the deaths caused by both. There is a serious alcohol problem in the US which also needs to be addressed. Much like heroin and other drugs. IMO, the gun saturation is a primary concern.
  6. How many children have been injured/killed this year as a result of the 1st amendment? The count on the 2nd amendment is 102, probably 103 by now. The problem is, as per the 2nd amendment, gun ownership needs to be "well regulated" as the Constitution states. Even if you don't want to believe that gun ownership is confined to militias, again as the Constitution states. There is just too much money being pumped into congress by the gun industry to get something significant done on control right now. What needs to be done is that the money line to congress needs to be cut off.
  7. How many times have the Sabres trailed going into the third period and come back to tie the game? Not tie then win, simply tie the game? Is it just me or has it seemed to happen a lot?
  8. Wouldn't the first shot the wife fired be "self defense" and the additional shots fired by the husband be murder? By the way, the number of gun related injuries/deaths to children under the age of 11 reached 102 in only 72 calendar days. Also, no one opposes the 2nd amendment, most just want the original meaning to be restored.
  9. I wish the 97 children, under the age of 11, injured/killed by gun violence since the 1st of the year was a campaign issue.
  10. The problem with Matt Moulson is Matt Moulson. He has always been a decent scorer, not a dynamic offensive performer in the sense that he creates a ton of offense on his own, he is an accent piece. What the Sabres need from him is something that Moulson is unable to and is ill equipped to provide and that is creating offense on his own and for others. Moulson is a cleaner, he picks up what others create. The Sabres just do not have enough players that can create the type of offense needed for Moulson to increase his point production. And frankly, Moulson, IMO, is not a top priority in my eyes. At this point he has played himself into the role of roster filler. He has three years left on his contract which works well for the Sabres, they can keep him around until they need that roster spot for one of the kids.
  11. The most important reason why I would disagree with moving Bogosian is that he is only 24 years old and he is still growing as a player. I would love to see that growth continue here in Buffalo along side our young talented forwards. It's important, IMO, that players like Eichel & Reinhart have those older consistent presences in the lineup they can rely on off the ice as well as on. Players like Bogosian at 24, like O'Reilly, will have a better chance of relating to those young guys than say a 37 year old Gionta or even a 31 Gorges. Young players have so much more being thrown at them from all different angles that they need steadying influences. Bogosian is a good enough player, with a cost I don't fee is prohibited in anyway, that his value can go beyond just big hits and occasional points. Sports today isn't as much about "building" as it is about "chemistry". It's as much more about a formula than it is a blueprint.
  12. The best fit for McGinn is right here in Buffalo. I can't imagine the two sides are that far off. Get the deal done.
  13. Why would the Sabres even consider trading Bogosian? He's 24 at a fixed cost long term. It would have to be one hell of a return. Not sure if Drouin is worth it.
  14. With Toews, Kane, Keith & Seabrook locked-up long term they'll be winning Stanley Cups still in 2-3 years. Teams like the Hawks, Bruins and the Kings are solidly run organizations and will continue to remain mainstays at the top of the league for a long time.
  15. Wishful thinking or a pandemic of common sense sweeping the country. Guns are like Racism, the majority knows they have no place in this country, yet we all know deep inside they will never go away. What really turns the pit of my stomach into knots, is in the time I wrote this post another person, possibly a child, has been gunned down. I challenge anyone who thinks there is a more pressing matter in this country than stopping that from happening to name it. Black Lives Matter? All Lives Matter? In this country, No Lives Matter! Only money matters. As long as profits from the gun industry continue to flow throughout Congress like the Nile River, human lives will be nothing more than accepted collateral damage with no value.
  16. Quick update: 1,936 Gun Related Deaths. 81 Children under the age of 11 killed or injured. 7,525 incidents involving guns. Here were are with February just ending, these are numbers we shouldn't be seeing over a decade. How can anyone say there isn't a gun problem in this country and expect to be taken seriously. It's time to repeal the Second Amendment no matter which version you use.
  17. On a playoff team with more talent, yeah probably.
  18. Win now, absolutely. No cap issues because you can let Stamkos walk and the Hawks replenish their roster as they normally do. Business as usual in Chicago. The Lightning would not likely get a better offer.
  19. It's a shame he went home to play. One of the great goal scorers missing from a league in desperate need of goals. He could easily have over 500 career goals by this point. His play during that playoff run was as solid and physical as you could hope to see.
  20. It depends what Chicago wants to do. A s I said, I wouldn't necessarily do the deal, just pointing out a deal can be done. A PP unit with Kane, Toews and Stamkos has to give any GM something to think about.
  21. You are proving you know nothing about Kovalchuk.
  22. A team looking to win yet another Cup?
  23. The Hawks could send Artemi Panarin & Artem Anisimov to Tampa which would get them close money wise. They would likely have to throw in a Marcus Kruger to even out the money. It can be done. Not saying I would make this deal in it's current form, just pointing out a team like the Hawks who are looking to win a Cup this season could easily add Stamkos if they desired.
  24. I am not against "Welfare with conditions" as long as the conditions are within reason. I would love to those who need welfare assistance and even those on social security be given classes on modern family economics. Something as simple as clipping and using coupons. Can save a family supplemented by public assistance anywhere from $20-$50 a month. Some cases more. This is one example, I am sure there are dozens of similar programs that both help and educate. The goal is to not allow assistance to become dependence. In order to "teach a man to fish" at some point he needs to be able to afford to buy his own fishing reel and rod. Knowledge is only half the battle, providing the tools to use that knowledge is also important.
  25. A gift from the political gods for the Democrats. The Republicans following up a historic run of the worst Congress in US history with a flat out refusal to uphold their constitutional duty is the death of any Republican Presidential candidate. Obstructionism is going to be a huge part of the Presidential campaign going forward.
