They may be going into a defensive shell but they are not good at playing defense so it doesn’t fair well. I’m just looking at the basic shots against stat. They are 8th in the league on shots against. anyway, we can obviously see that they are not playing well defensively. 21-1 SOG in one period is bad and IMO that isn’t the Sabres just going into a defensive shell. They’re lucky that UPL has played very well the last couple outings.

Maybe they will, maybe they’ll go on another losing streak. Both are possible

Can you post this info? It’s not that I don’t believe you, I’ve tried to research the overall SA per period (league-wide) and I can’t find anything that breaks it down that much. I’m curious yes the best teams get out shot but they don’t get out shot as much as say the Sabres on a regular basis. The Sabres are eight worse in SA.

Good win but this “kind of goaltending” would be impossible to sustain in the playoffs. UPL was absolute riddled with pucks in the third period. 21 SOG in one period is absolutely unsustainable for a goalie, especially if they’re playing every other day. UPL fended off 17 SOG in the 3rd period of the Aves game. In the last two games he started, he faced 84 SOG. there is no way this team survives the first round if they got into the playoffs. UPL did play outstanding and hopefully he is turning the corner. Time will tell 🤞

That is your opinion but we don’t know if it’s Adams. We’ve said that for a few years but it hasn’t happened. They have remained at the bottom of the standings. If they move up to the middle of the standings but just miss the playoffs is literal progress.

Would that show the team has progress? Yes especially if the season remains closer to the bottom than the top. that would show his plan is progressing at a steady pace. Obviously that could change if this season continue to progress quicker than expected.

I think year three is winning consistently (on both side of the puck) vs shooting for the playoffs for Adams. Obviously winning consistently should put you in a better position to make the playoffs but I think Adams would be happy with being on the bubble. If Thompson continues riding his rocket ship to the stars & the team wins consistently on both sides of the puck along with showing organizational stability, that will go along way for Adams to court higher end players.

Well, at the moment, Adams is in no rush. He’s convinced the Pegula’s and the fan base that the need time to evaluate and develop the young players. That bought adams about 3 years which will be after next season.

They talk highly of Tage but the first half was painful when they were talking about what happened at barstool sports

I think Adams isn’t going to go out and get a big name goalie. I think he hoped that Comrie/UPL would be a good stopgap until the can see if Levi could develop into a NHL level goalie quickly.

Exactly. He’s playing on borrowed time right now. He learned the hard way last season that he played way too much. He’s not going to sacrifice his buddy for the Sabres and I don’t blame him
