Isn’t the real east coast 1/2 hour ahead of you?
-
I think their struggle with the cap is real. BriseBois basically inherited Stevie Y’s team and now has to deal with a bunch of NTCs. He apprenticed under Yzerman but he is new to the scenario facing him. He cannot keep that team together, good assets can be had. Leafs fans think Dubas is a cap genius but he gave the Canes Marleau and a first just to shed that salary. There are deals to be had this off season.

OT - What are you doing to pass the time
French Collection replied to FogBat's topic in The Aud Club
I’ve been cleaning, refurbishing and sharpening some old axes. Shaping and installing handles as well. My collection is close to forty now but I am always keeping an eye out for more. -
The cap will be flat for a few years. Tampa is tight now and has a boatload of NTCs. Buffalo has some space and needs to find a way to make this happen. Cirelli is from Vaughn, Ontario, a couple of hours from Buffalo. Maybe he would sign an offer sheet for a team that is on the rise, especially if he can be the difference maker.

That speed may serve him well as a winger if they get some C depth.

You are right. There are still some pretty good teams that can get #1 though.

I feel that upsets always happen and some really good teams will be in the mix for Lafreniere. Using 2019 as an example, Tampa, the President’s trophy winner would have had a shot at the #1 pick.

Ryan Stimson's "new" power play approach
French Collection replied to Eleven's topic in The Aud Club
I think if the behind the net playmaker becomes your go to PP other teams will be able to find ways to defend it. In my opinion it would be more effective as one weapon in an arsenal of two or three options. If you have possession and you change the play on the fly, you may catch the opposition off guard. Analytics may determine which matchups are better for which plays. -
TSN reports Toronto and Edmonton as Hub cities for playoffs
French Collection replied to Sabre fan's topic in The Aud Club
I thought McKenzie said that the Leafs would use the visitors bench for “road” games. Besides, there won’t be any fans. -
If they do hire him, he can also help tweak the Sabres draft board. He can’t bring the Canes list with him but I am sure he has a lot of it memorized and has different insight on players.

Wow, I haven’t thought of that place in years. Maybe global warming is a thing.

Taking Johnson off their hands may cost next to nothing. They clear cap space for Cirelli.

If Halifax is in the tundra then I must be in Santa’s workshop! I have been to the northernmost community in Ontario, Fort Severn. That was the end of the boreal forest and the edge of the tundra. Tallest tree I saw was probably 20’. No idea how old it would have been.

A few of the Mock drafts have Holtz at #8 so I watched a few videos of him. Elite shooter, comparable to Caufield from last year’s draft. He is bigger and a better skater than Caufield. He is a right handed RW, which the Sabres could use. For some reason, I am not sold on him. I would consider moving down a few spots and getting Jarvis or Quinn. It is no secret that I would love to get Rossi at 8 but I don’t think he gets by the Devils. They have 3 prospects on the 67s so they have seen all of Rossi’s games. My only hope is that they need something other than a C.

Agree 100% that is better than Matthews, and not just because I hate the Leafs and his moustache and.....
-
Yes but they need to sweeten it with a pick.
-
Ok, so if Toronto is knocked out they go into the phase 2 lottery. If they win they get #1, every other option goes to Carolina because of their record?
-
Well, if the package involves a 2C and we get a later first rounder I would be tempted. Jarvis or Lapierre are good C prospects that could be in the 12-18 range.

Leafs pick belongs to Carolina, Marleau dump by the cap genius. -
Sabres Announce Jeremiah Crowe as Director of Scouting
French Collection replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Well, they have the draft board compiled by JBot and his gang as a starting point. They have tons of time to review video, crunch data, interview people and brainstorm together to tweak the list. They may even be able to poach someone from another organization for added opinion. I believe many contracts end in July. -
I hope Columbus beats them. Doesn’t Carolina have their 1st in the Marleau deal? That would look good on the genius Dubas.
-
Lafreniere, Byfield, Stuetzle, Drysdale, Raymond, Holtz and Perfetti are the seven I hope are taken. This would leave Rossi exposed. It would be a bonus if someone took a chance on Sanderson or Askarov to add options.

Friedman saying that if they scrap the season the 8 teams with the worst records will draw for Lafreniere. -
